Member for more than 10 years. Love the hours available for work outs but terrible arrangements for personal trainers. Have to wait or skip workout routines due to excessive number of people in training groups that monopolize large areas of the weights/machine areas. I realize we all pay for our time in the gym… but really??? Make dedicated area for personal training so we ALL can get benefits from the work out areas…

I worked in Florence SC for about four months at the end of last year. I have been meaning to post a review of this gym for a long time! So here it is. The front desk staff is wonderful. They were helpful in getting me the best deal possible in order to use the gym. Incidentally, they recommended getting day passes from my hotel front desk. They are only $ 10 and can be used for 24 hours. The facility is clean and spacious. There is plenty of equipment with lots of TVs and lots of towels. The bathrooms are clean and comfortable. There is also a large indoor pool. This is a great place to visit for your daily work out if you are in Florence.

I’ve been a member for about a year now, and it’s the best gym I have ever been to! I am currently interning in the Florence area, and this is my go to after work. I say it is the best gym because the facility is so clean, and there are a variety of equipments. They also have clean towels EVERYWHERE! I’ve never been to a gym that offered so many towels to its members; there’s a stack at every corner! Other then that, the staff is very friendly and helpful.

Snarky, rude front desk personnel who seem preoccupied with things other than their jobs. When finally I gained someone’s attention, it took a half hour to get someone to speak with me about membership. Equipment and facility are nice, but the price does not compare to facilities nearby. The YMCA has everything this gym has, and although the facility is older, the price is 1⁄3 that of McLeod. Staff at the YMCA is helpful, available and friendly.

Simply put this is the best gym ive ever been to. I believe it is 10 $ to go for a one day experience. The gym has a spa, separate locker rooms, separate and multi gender saunas and hot tubs, a LARGE and medium sized pool, a basketball court, separate steam rooms, showers, training sessions, etc. you name it, they have it. They also keep the basketballs in GREAT condition. They got a whole brand new set the other month. Theres only one negative and that, of course, would be the price. Contracts are never fun but once you are in, you are in love. This facility is to the gym world as Louis Vuitton is to handbags. It is the premier gym. Only negatives — 1) the price as already stated. 2) can get crowded at times. 3) The hours are not the best for somebody who works the entire day. The gym closes at 10 on weekdays and between 6 – 8 on weekends. But this gym is perfect! For goodness sake, even John Cena trained here once when the wwe(world wrestling entertainment) was in town. This is the best gym Ive ever been to and probably will be the best gym still when Im dead. If you ever dislike your time at this gym, you’re doing something wrong.

I was a member of this gym for almost 3 years when I lived in Florence. I now live in Charleston, a bigger city with more gyms, but I miss McLeod Health and Fitness. Yes, it is the most expensive gym in town, but you get what you pay for. This gym would cost twice as much here. Not that it matters because it’s not here, it’s in Florence and if you live there and want a gym membership, look no further! If you like group fitness classes… this is your place. There are tons of them. Probably 100 or so each week. Heck, you can’t do them all because there are sometimes 2 – 3 taking place at the same time. Some of the classes are basically like personal training. The instructors are excellent and the yoga instructors and classes are comparable to expensive studios here in Charleston where you will pay $ 15 – 20 per class. Did I mention at McLeod, these classes are *included* and *unlimited*? You can do yoga, Zumba, spin, etc, every. single. day. If you don’t like classes, there’s tons of free weights and machine weights on both floors. There’s also every cardio machine imaginable on both floors, raquetball courts, two pools, basketball courts, and the outdoor running track(which is free, do not have to be a member to use). The locker rooms are immaculate… steam room, sauna, hot tub, nice showers and roomy lockers. There is always someone cleaning in there and with it being a hospital gym, you know it’s up to high standards. Café’s food is good, a little pricey for Florence and it takes awhile, but it’s good food. And the gym has a daycare, I don’t have kids so I never used it but it always looked like they were having a great time. I was kinda jealous when I saw them playing with the parachute! Gym’s hours are pretty good too. Not 24 – 7, but they’re open most anytime you’d want to come to the gym. Otherwise the walking track is always open(obviously). Also, there is a guard who will walk you out to your car or watch you go out when it’s after dark which always made me feel very safe as a female. He patrols the parking lot on a golf cart as well.

I’ve been a member of this gym for about 3 years now and I still love it. They offer all sorts of classes throughout the day from yoga to power cycling to zumba. There are 2 floors to this gym. The upstairs seems to be more for the hardcore exercisers and the ground floor is more for newbies like me. Their machines are really nice and easy to use and there are always staff members around to help you. A nice somewhat new feature is that there are televisions attached to a lot of machines so you could watch whatever you wanted while running on an elliptical machine. They have 2 indoor pools, 1 heated and 1 non but honestly both are fairly warm. There is also a hot tub/whirlpool in the main pool area. There are hot tubs in the locker rooms(1 in each) as well as a steam room and sauna. Again 1 in each(so no co-ed). It is possibly the most expensive gym in town but I think it is also the only one with an indoor pool. If you’re not sure you want to drop that much money in a gym come in and take a tour first but for me it’s worth every penny I pay.
