Kawa Japanese Fusion

Tucked in a rather unassuming mini-​strip is quite possibly some of the best sushi in Orange county. What the venue lacks in ambiance it MORE than makes up for in quality, flavor and particularly presentation. There is not much on space or decore and I notice when I dine there I am usually the only one (but see many people come in for take-​out orders). Makes for a nice quiet place to dine/​chat and, as I said, the food is OUTSTANDING. I lean towards sashimi often and the chefs cuts are generous and the quality of the fish is excellent. There are several house rolls that are unique (the Spicy Girl and Godzilla are my current favs…) and the service is very friendly and observant. Parking in front is pretty sparse, but 80feet over by the Quickcheck, there is plenty of room.

I had family in town, and we were looking for Asian fusion on a Sunday afternoon. Ka Wa was exactly what we needed. We ordered a multitude of sushi rolls and individual sushi pieces, teriyaki chicken and pad thai to go.
They have a sushi bar with a chef that makes all sushi orders, so, he’s fun to watch. The rest of the staff was very friendly, patient and helpful with all of our questions.
The sushi roll selection is fresh, creative and extremely tasty! Sushi pieces were well cut, fresh and generously portioned. Teriyaki chicken had a lighter sauce, so it wasn’t syrup-​sweet, it was great. Pad thai can be ordered with three different noodles (two Japanese types of noodles or traditional rice noodles). Pad thai flavor was great, but could have used some spicy kick.
When more people find out about this place, it should be packed. I’ll definitely be back.

Been here a few times & each time it’s 5 star service. The staff is extremely friendly & the food is amazing. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants delicious sushi!

We’ve been here twice. The food here is very good. They have good sushi (high and low priced rolls) and great entrees. For an appetizer, my wife and I had the vegetable pot stickers which were excellent. I had the chicken katsu donburi which was different from the Asian cuisine I’m used to but delicious.
The restaurant is set up awkwardly. There is a ‘nook’ in the back which is basically a path to the bathroom with tables. All the tables are really crammed and it feels like you’re eating with the table next to you. It felt like we were secluded from the rest of the restaurant… It was quite uncomfortable. Albeit the service was good. Just ask to sit in the open area if there are tables open.

Super fresh and awesome sushi, which this area lacked. Have ordered sushi for lunch a few time. $ 11 for three rolls to share at the office! No better deal in the area… very clean as it is new. Staff is friendly but may encounter a language barrier with some employees. Knocking off one star because they can be a little slow at times.

I ordered the crispy duck as a take-​out dish, but the duck was less than crispy. In fact the duck was very chewy and did not taste very fresh. Moreover, there were only small chunks of it For 25 dollars I would have expected better. What a disappointment.

I just finished my take out sushi and I am impressed with the freshness, flavor, presentation of the food as well as the quality of service from the staff. I would definitely recommend this restaurant the price can’t be beat..

Finally good sushi in Florida/​Goshen! Have eaten there twice (sushi) and have found it to be fresh, well made. Will definitely become a regular.
New restaurant in the area so give them a try and support local businesses trying to make our towns better.

Ii went to Ka Wa a few weeks ago and had the Shrimp Tempura Lunch/​Bento Box. I found it surprisingly good. The only complaint was it was just barely warm. Went back today and tried the Hibachi Scallops. What a big difference. I had it with noodles in stead of rice. I asked the waitress what kind of noodles and she said lo mien. I asked if they were wheat or rice, etc. Not only did it come out as I was having my salad. but there were maybe 5 pieces of scallops. Three of which were broken pieces. The other two were the size of a nickel. Now I don’t expect diver scallops for $ 10 lunch but come on. The veggies were soggy and greasy. The noodled were greasy and flavorless. I so wanted this restaurant to be good and thought by now they would be on their game. But not so. What a shame because the area could use one. Will think twice before I go back.

2 stars not because the food wasn’t good, but because it wasn’t Japanese. I ordered OsakaDon (donburi). As soon as they put it down in front of me, I had a little and I asked the server «is the chef Japanese?» She sait «NO, he is Chinese but a Japanese chef is teaching him». The food was fresh and very good, but not authentic Japanese!
I would go back and try the Hibachi and also the Bento box, but if that doesn’t taste authentic, I will only go for the sushi. The sushi was very good.
Stick to the sushi.

We ordered for pick-​up twice already. I have to say — very fresh and very good food. It’s a new restaurant so everything is brand new and clean. The lunch we ordered (bento box — lunch size, combination-​sample platter) was very clean, fresh and very tasty. They also have the same bento box for dinner which is a bigger portion but it was a lunch time so we ordered smaller size for lunch. It was $ 9 with chicken and $ 11 with beef. it also comes with miso soup and salad on the side. Next time I have to try their shrimp tempura. We’re very excited that we now have Japanese –Thai fusion place close to home so we can either come in to eat in or order to take out. Also, very well priced as for grand opening and very nice place. The food is delicious. We will be back many times to come.
6−15−15 update:
We ordered to pick up and eat at home again but weren’t so happy as the first few times so I am taking one star back of what I originally rated them (originally gave them 5 stars but now reduced them to 4).
You have to check your order there on the spot when you’re picking it up. Open the bag and check as they may miss some items from the menu. For example we ordered 2 lunch meals that should come with rice, soup and salad. But only my wife got all 3 sides. My meals was missing all 3 ! I think each time other people are packing the orders to those paper bags and forget things. Next time I will check if I got all of the things that come with the lunch or dinner (all that are listed on the menu). I like Miso Soup and their rice and their salad so I was little disturbed when I noticed I didn’t get them.

The food was amazing! This is the freshest sushi I’ve ever tasted. The fish melts in your mouth! A little out of the way unless you’re a local but well worth the trip!
