DONOTGOHERE!!! My complaint is not with the medical care but with the unbelievably inept front desk staff and the billing process! I went earlier this year because I was visiting my parents in the area and thought I had bronchitis… My husband and I arrived late on a weekday morning and I was asked for my insurance card, which the woman at the front desk spent considerable time copying. I met with a doctor for 15 minutes and had no lab tests, no x-rays. He gave me a couple of prescriptions(which I filled in the pharmacy and paid for). Flash forward to four months later, I get a bill for $ 300– apparently, they had not billed my insurance company. So, I had to write to my insurance company– they said no one had billed them– and to the billing organization(different than the actual facility) to AGAIN provide them with my billing information. Ok, that finally got resolved and I wound up paying $ 126 out of pocket(I know, my insurance isn’t the best, but it’s what I can afford). Today I got a bill in the mail from Ingalls itself– $ 828!!! No itemization of how they got to that princely sum and once again, they did not bill my insurance company. Mind you, this invoice comes SIXMONTHS after I received treatment. I mean, are you kidding? So, I just wrote to Ingalls and am also snail mailing them all of my insurance information. This is exactly why American health care gets such a bad name. Because they just want to stick it to you every which way and they can’t even be bothered to do their jobs! I wish I had the name of the idiot that was working intake that day. She probably doesn’t ever bill anyone’s insurance so I can’t believe I am the only one who has experienced this nightmare. Stay tuned, because I will be updating Ingalls’ brilliant responses…
