We eat here a lot. Very good food. Watch out for the metal door. It gets very hot in the summer time because it’s facing west. Best Asian food in the area.

This is a good restaurant. We go there often. The food is not overly spicy like I like it but it is tasty. My kids love the dumplings.

My food never came. Everyone else got their dinner, twenty minutes later the waitress said, «now you are still waiting for a dish, right?». I told her to forget it. Then she still charged me for the meal.

While the food can be good here, the service tonight was horrendous. I understand that Friday nights can be busy — but it’s not like restaurants don’t know that. You should be able to handle people actually frequenting your establishment. My wife called in to place a to go order around 7:00PM. After multiple busy signals and being put through to voice mail twice, the phone was finally answered and she was put on hold immediately. 8 minutes later she was still on hold. I picked up my cell phone, called the restaurant, and my call was picked up and I was asked for my order. My wife, meanwhile was still on hold. She hung up, we placed our order, and was told 20 minutes. I showed up at the restaurant 20 minutes later, paid for the food, and was told it would be a few minutes. Fair enough — it was Friday night after all. 10 minutes later I was told it would be a few more minutes. 10 more minutes — «just a few more minutes». Finally, 25 minutes after showing up(and 45 minutes overall), my food finally came out. At this point, I asked to speak to the manager. I tried to explain my frustration, but he really didn’t seem to care. His only feedback was — «We are busy and we have a lot of orders». I get it — but then don’t tell people 20 minutes when you know it will be 30 – 45 minutes.(And I won’t even get in to my wife being put in to on-hold purgatory). I will think long and hard before we order from Empress of China again. The service was bad enough tonight, but to add insult to injury, somehow, the food was not even fresh and hot when I got home. Definitely not a good night for Empress of China.

Very generic Chinese food, we had lunch special, rice was dry, egg roll was nasty. We had stir-fry schewhan beef an I had honey glazed chicken. Service was good, food just tasted off.

As americanized Chinese goes, this was probably as good as it gets. I asked if there was a Chinese menu of more authentic options, but his response was«So you want it spicy, right?» Other than this the service was OK, drinks were refiled quickly, food was out fast, and they checked on us a couple of times. As usually for us, we were there at a very quiet time. The ambiance is retro cave, very dim and dark. I had to use the light of my iPad to read the menu where the details were in the finest font I’ve ever seen on a menu even at 3 on a bright sunny day. The menu was large and had a ton of great sounding stuff on it. Plenty of good choices for vegetarians. I had Kung Pau Tofu which was 80% green peppers, 2% red peppers, 3% peanuts and %15 percent Tofu. This was the least amount of Tofu I’ve ever received in a Tofu dish at a Chinese restaurant. Sauce tasted like garlic sauce with a dash of sugar, much blander than expected. Even though it was listed as spicy, it had zero spiciness to it. Good food comes out the right spiciness for its taste, this did not. The flavor matched the tofu well, but the Green/Red Pepper flavor totally overwhelmed the taste of the sauce. My wife had a Shrimp dish, her first comment was that the Shrimp were overcooked. She also said the sauce was too sugary and scrapped as much of it off as she could. She ate most of the shrimp and saved the rest for her dog. Both dogs loved the leftovers; my dog, Zipper scarfed down the remaining Peppers, I ate all the Tofu and Chubby loved the vegetables from my wife’s dish, they gave it 5 stars. My wife does not want to go back, I’m ambivalent; its good americanized Chinese and edible, but I can find frozen stuff for less that is just as good. I really only want to give them 2 stars, but the Chinese food is so bad in Flower Mound/Highland Village and this may be the best of the bunch. If you like Americanized Chinese, then this may be the place for you!

Definitely my favorite Chinese restaurant in FloMo/HV. Their Hot and Sour soup is amazing and I normally don’t like that kind of soup. And their Beef with Broccoli comes with carrots which is always a way I know it’s going to be delicious. Every dish that we have ordered comes looking and tasting fresh. Plus, you can tell they use good quality meat.

This is our second attempt at trying Empress of China after receiving a good referral for Chinese in our new area. The first time we were greeted and seated fairly promptly. Our drink order was taken and food order taken not long after. The beef and chicken dishes were overcooked to the point that the beef and chicken were dried out and tough. Never experienced that issue in a decent Chinese restaurant before. We chalked it up to an off night that can happen anywhere. Recently went for dinner and couldn’t even get the two people at the front desk to acknowledge we were there. We stood there for at least 10 minutes and finally one of the front desk people acknowledged us and asked if we needed a table. DUH??? We said yes, we wanted a table. Then the guy says he would have to get a waiter for help us. A waiter came to the front desk and ended up helping the other guy with some issue on his register. Seriously? After no one else came to take us to a table, I loudly proclaimed we would go to Lucky Panda where the food and service was much better anyway. I know they have a huge take out business, but if people are walking in, get off the phones and do business that’s in your face. Will never go back to this service-less establishment.

Had dinner tonight service was prompt and pleasant however we were extremely disappointed in the food. We ordered Egg rolls and were quite impressed when they arrived immediately. Took a bite and they were old and cold. The waiter had no problem throwing them away and bringing new. We then got orange chicken, it came with the vegetables ice cold and chicken luke warm. We spoke to him and he was upset at us. They brought new right away. Chicken was hot and the vegetables ice cold still, we were told that’s how they are suppose to be. The Mushu Pork was fantastic.

The inside of this place was actually surprisingly decorated well. I have been ordering here for years, but the food is so much better when you dine in for some reason. I would definitely dine in here again.

Best choice for American Chinese in the area. My son’s beef and broccoli and my twice cooked pork was prepared perfectly. Vegetables crisp and sauces not overpowering. My wife’s tofu dish missed the mark for heat(spicy). She had requested extra spicy but only one pepper. Not enough to even taste. However she still enjoyed the dish. Attentive service and pleasant atmosphere. We will keep coming.

I have been here before but get distracted by all of the new restaurants popping up. I need to go here more often. The service impressed me most of all. The staff was very attentive to all of my needs. I ordered iced tea and my glass was always refilled quickly and many times I didn’t even notice it had been refilled. The staff wad always very courteous and helpful. We ordered three items and. All of them were even better than we ecpected. The Ginger Shrimp was our favorite. The only thing that took away from our experience was a woman who was not very polite to the staff. She wanted something special that wasn’t on the menu. The waiter told her that the chef said it wasn’t possible. She kept badgering him and saying, «I’m the customer. I’m always right.» The waiter got the manager and she did the same with him. He told her he would take care of it. She. was so rude. I would have told her to leave but they helped her. I wish I could rate customers. This is a great restaurant with very good food and service.

This is the second time I have eaten here. The first time was superb. This time it was agonizingly awful. The shrimp(Ginger Shrimp) were small and rubbery; there was so much sauce it was more like an overly sweet soup; and the snow peas were overcooked. My mother was afraid to eat any of her Jumbo Scallops with Soy Ginger Sauce because the scallops smelled off. I called Empress before I wrote this and did not even get an apology. FYI, there is no crab in their crab Rangoon, just cream cheese.

Empress used to be a close by favorite until recently when I placed an order to go. I ordered Mongolian beef with fried rice, honey seared chicken, and a combination fried rice. The Mongolian beef was super dry. The honey seared chicken was fried chicken tenders with sauce poured over and the combination fried rice had no flavor at all. Usually the honey seared chicken was not fried and it was white meat chicken breast, not some chicken tender mess. Sadly, I won’t being here any longer. If you changed your chef, you’re business will probably dwindle because the food was horrible.

This place has been here for years… but I’m not sure how. The service is less than stellar and the food was sub-par. Egg drop soup had some weird hoo in it. Super bland, no corn or scallion… Honey sesame shrimp & chicken was a huge portion. The sauce was ok but the chicken(white meat) had a weird texture and not a great taste. Fried rice was bland. The tea and DP were on point tho. We will not be back. Not sure if the crappy service was due to is being a same-sex couple or just truly crappy server.

Things I liked about this place: The egg rolls were fresh My lunch came with free soup and an egg roll for only about $ 6!) The waiters were really nice The waiting time on food was short Things I didn’t like about this place: Not very organized(table seater is nowhere to be found, waiters go missing) The chips were overcooked Not authentic Chinese food, but good for Americanized Chinese food I ordered curry chicken, which was okay — not incredible. The sesame chicken was pretty good, and their egg drop soup is good as well. I’ll come here again because of the price.

My personal favorite for Chinese food in the area. The service is always good and they will prepare off-menu orders with ease, making it easy to get the exact ingredients and degree of spice you prefer. The ONLY reservation I have ever had is the concern for the FM Health Department scores in the upper 50’s to mid 60’s. I have never witnessed any issues, but it makes me want to walk through the kitchen just one time.
