Mi Cocina

This place is just a couple of blocks from where I live. It is such a great location and I want to love this place but, but, but, I just can’t. The layout of the restaurant just doesn’t work for me. Its a large restaurant and the bar area where people congregate is always crowded. It has like like 4 bar stools. Since it is a large restaurant you feel like you are in a cattle car when it is crowded. All that being said, if you eventually make your way to the bar and get a cocktail the mambo taxi margaritas are very solid, especially if you add the Grand Marnier! The combination fajitas are my go to entrée and they are always very consistent. The chips are a little salty and the salsa is fair to Midland. As much I want to find another Tex Mex place to hang out, I just keep going back to this place…

This place is a bummer. It’s basically a choose your noodle, choose your sauce, choose your meat sorta place. It’s like Olive garden with a little less confidence in how sick it’ll make you.
Skip it if at all possible.

Great restaurant by name, however horrible service and execution. Can’t wait to go to Mesero in the city!
Had a fresh plate come out after the first stale one was delivered and still horrible.
Check, check… beware!!!

Great customer service and good food. Love the «Taste of Mi Cocina». It’s a little of all their signature dishes on one plate.

Update from my first visit: ordered fajitas and the presentation was fabulous as well as tasted great. Our server was fast with refilling chips/​salsa and our waters, not to mention our food came out fast. Décor is nice as well and I noticed that the floor, tables, and bathrooms were clean. Overall it was a great visit. Will be back again.

This restaraunt keeps getting worse every time we go. Not sure if they changed cooking staff or what but not going there again unless they change cooking staff.

Haven’t been here in a long time. I was greeted at the for by the hostess who was very nice. When she sat me at my table she asked the name of the other guest that was joining me. I was immediately given salsa and chips which were yummy! My friend and I split queso blanco with brisket. Yummy also. Adding brisket did not cost extra! I had a mango margarita, very good. Our server was awesome. My friend and I are talkers and he checked on just the right amount of time :-) I will definitely have to visit again!

Came here for book club on a Tuesday night. The tables were arranged awkwardly for book club but we dealt with it.
The chips and salsa were amazing. The menu was hard to read because they had the names in Spanish and not English. I ordered the brisket tacos and they were so amazing! To drink I ordered a sangria and it was huge!
While the service was good, food was yummy, restaurant was cleaned, I felt the pricing was expensive. It could have been the sangria but who needs a sangria that big? I would go back but it is pricey.

First time here and I really enjoyed it. Their chips and salsa were great. I had the chicken fajitas and my husband had nachos. Both were really flavorful and delicious. The guac was so good! I’d like to get an appetizer of it next time. The prices are a little high but the quality is equal to the cost so we didn’t mind. It makes a great special occasion restaurant. We had great service from both our server and the manager. It took about 20 minutes to get seated at our table, but that is expected on a Friday night. We’ll be back.

Food was expected and wait staff was exceptional! Our waiter continued to check on us throught our dinner even though it was a busy Friday.

On a typical night you can expect great service along with some killer food and drinks… but last night was anything but typical. The waitress we had was awesome, up until she thought we were lesbians — then she disappeared. She literally ran into our table and still would not look at us. She passed the table at least 10 times, never stopping to ask if we were ready to order, or if we needed more drinks (empty bottles were a clue). This went on for at least 25 minutes before I finally asked for the manager; magically 3 others showed up to help. And surprise, surprise, our new waiter was gay. The only reason they’re getting two stars is because of the new waiter, because that wasn’t the end of it. Do you know of any restaurant that runs out of toiletpaper — and puts paper towels in its place?! That was the first stall, the second was out of order. Do you think it could be because someone is putting papertowels down the toilet? Doesn’t take a genius to figure that out. There are 3 stores within walking distance, one across the lot, where staff or management could have purchased tp. I can only hope they do better next time, if there is one. #ridiculous #lazy

I was here for a business dinner. Very fast service, the seating was a little strange only because the door guy did not want to have us sit where we wanted to sit.
The guac was very good, hot sauce was great, chicken was out of this world.
Everyone at dinner enjoyed themselves and it was a memorable dinner.
I will go back again.

They have great food, especially the fajita nachos. They are a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. The reason for 4 stars is their tortillas are not home made.

I really liked their guacamole! I’ve ordered their quesadilla’s with all veggies and by far one of the best veggie quesadilla’s I’ve had! Service is good and the food is great!

Really excellent service! Margaritas were especially good! I had the fish tacos, which were ok … I couldn’t really taste the fish with all the extras in the tacos. We showed up about 20 minutes before closing and were not rushed one bit.

I really like this location and the Valley Ranch/​Las Colinas one also. Good food, good service most of the time.

Came here for nachos and margaritas before a movie. Wife and I ordered a couple of Mambo Taxis and Piccadillo nachos. Both were excellent. Our waitress was hardly friendly and beyond rude, so much so that we requested a new server. The manager could not have been nicer if he tried. He got us a new server who was outstanding, brought us a fresh round of drinks and comped the meal — and would not even consider letting us pay.
They have a nice atmosphere and extensive menu. After our first waitress, I wouldn’t even consider coming back here. After the interaction with the manager, who clearly cares about his customers and his business, we will be back often. Nice to see someone in the restaurant business realize that their business depends on customers, and this guy went above and beyond to make sure we became loyal patrons. Goes to show that a $ 30 investment in your customers will pay dividends. We took our Christmas guests here for dinner twice over the holidays and received a wonderful meal, great drinks and impeccable service.
If you haven’t been here lately, give it another try. You won’t be sorry.

All though I come here a great deal. And I love their food, tonight 12−16−204 was exceptionally slow and way to long from. A queso to dinner over 50 Minutes. Of course you now have eaten to Many chips etc. Not sure if they staffed right or not but I am totally unsatisfied with tonight’s service, timing and the fact there are new 21’s year behind us, I am sure I was the same rambunctious 21 year old as well.
Totally disappointed tonight as a regular. !!!

Very disappointed. The restaurant itself is beautiful but the food and service was very lacking. First off it was pretty empty but It took a very long time to get chips and then drinks. The salsa tasted like cheap canned tomatoes with onions and maybe a little jalepeno. The waiter assured us all the sauces were created fresh but the queso tasted like salted velveeta. My enchiladas were so dry on the ends they were almost crunchy with very little sauce. My husband ordered fajittas. The meat was gray and he said it tasted boiled. The onions and peppers were sitting in a watery and greasy puddle. I could have spent ¼ the price and had better good had we gone to taco cabana.

I love going to this restaurant.
Everyone that works there is so humble and friendly. The management are wonderful and the food is excellent. It’s a family environment and when I go with my family there is never a wait. I recommend this place if your looking for great tex mex food.
The mambo taxi is the best margarita!
