Agave Tex-Mex Grill

really really annoyed!!! they talked me into buying a $ 25.00 gift card for $ 15.00 last time I was in there and tried to go back for my birthday brunch this Sunday and they are CLOSED. Tried to call the phone number get a message «mailbox is full». what a ripoff.

Three words for you; soup and salad.
The salad with Fajita chicken, homemade ranch (from a mix I am sure), bacon and hardboiled egg is GREAT and all of their soups are fantastic. We go there 3 times a month and the soup and salad is all I order now it is so good.

I ate here twice. The first time I thought it was so good I could not wait to go back. The second time we felt nickle and dimed to death! They charged us $ 5 for some guacamole smaller than an ice cream scoop! I asked for a different side than rice and beans and got charged another $ 5!!! I will not be going back!!!

I have worked in several Tex-​Mex and southwestern themed restaurants over the years and that has caused me to become overly critical of them. Agave does rise above the rest. I was overjoyed to see pork shanks and short ribs on the menu. I am a fool for the cheap meats so of course I went for the short ribs (which were a monthly special if I remember right) My friend ordered the Pollo Poblano, and I am not usually a big enchilada fan were quite tasty. The poblano was the primary flavor in the sauce and it was not overpowering. My short ribs were wonderful. I was able to entertain myself with the metal images of using the bones as projectiles to disturb the other diners, one of the many perks of the short rib structure. The garnish was unnessecary and a chile would have been nice but nonetheless very good for a reasonable price.
The drink menu scared me a bit and I don’t think I would try many of their signature drinks but the tequila selection was decent. I am on my way there right now to have a second taste!!!

Another disappointing Mexican restaurant in Flower Mound. Same location as the previous restaurant that was there, same bad food. Probably the worst margarita I’ve ever had to begin followed by stale chips and salsa. The overpriced entrees that resembled Taco Bell capped off our dining experience. The 9:00 DJ dance party that starts definitely didnt help the experience either. Nothing like eating at a mexican restaurant and listening to the DJ pump dance music with flashing lights. Not sure what’s up with that.

My husband is the mexican food lover (me, I’m all about Italian), however, if he chooses Agave when it’s his turn to pick he doesn’t get any grumbling from me. The service and food has always been good.
