Looks like nice, but it’s too sweet, which you don’t really taste anything else but sweet! I put much more expected on it when I saw the pictures on the Unilocal, but Im really disappointed when I really have it. Not recommend it

I am so sad to be updating my previous review. I suppose nothing lasts forever. In this case the nothing is cocohodo’s bingsoo(shaved ice). They have DRASTICALLY reduced the size of their large bingsoo. This apparently happened couple of months back. ALL of the pictures you see here with the plates being used for their bingsoo are no longer any useful. DONOTTRUSTTHEPICTURESOFTHEIRBINGSOO’S INCERAMICBOWLS. Their large bingsoo’s are now served in a metal container similar and slightly larger to the metal«bowls» they use for their smaller sized bingsoo’s. They seem to try but of course you just cannot get the huge amount of shaved ice and toppings you used to get. It’s physics. That’s just how volume works. It’s a bit bigger than the smaller counterpart. Putting it into a high and narrow bowl has also made it much harder to eat and share now. What a shame… The only reason this isn’t 2 stars is because they’ve recently imported those square Korean boo-ng uh bbang(aka taiyaki) that’s pretty popular these days in Korea. I highly recommend the nutella and biscoff fillings. The taiyaki itself will be pretty sweet no matter what since they just douse it in granulated sugar. So understand what you’re getting into when you buy one of these. They are super sweet. Ughh I’M SOSAD!

I love their walnut filled sweet goodness! They make a bunch and keep it warm. It’s very good here. It’s very nice and clean here but there are a lot of older Korean women chit chatting so I don’t think it’s a good place to study.

Went here after an early dinner with my gf, so it was quiet and not that busy. The atmosphere is very relaxed and calming. 2 drinks and a shaved ice to share was cheap as well. Definitely going to come here again!

I got the oreo bingsu and and when i asked the employee about what was in it for sure, she gave me an attitude. Plus, she was the only employee working there and she took 10 minutes to make it, no joke. It was the first time i’ve waited so long dor it. And when i finally received it, it turned out to be 90% ice. Not even other filling underneath, just a bowl of shaved ice with oreo crumbles and chocolate on top. Very disappointed :/

Service was great because they allow us to try a sample of the walnut pastry and they were attentive. The taiwanese shaved ice was alright. Nothing spectacular. It was served with mochi, walnut pastry, sunflower seeds, nuts, vanilla ice cream and red bean paste. Would recommend the warm walnut pastry. Cute packaging.

Came here to pick up some of the walnut pastries for my friend’s birthday party. They are about $ 7 for 15 pieces which I would say is an ok deal. The service was nice and the interior seemed really clean as well so that’s a plus. The pastry is soft on the outside and is filled with a red bean paste in the center and a piece of crunchy walnut in the middle. The taste of the pastry didn’t blow me away but my friends seemed to like it so I guess it’s a matter of personal preference. The pastries make great snacks for parties and gifts though!

One of the best Bingsoo places indeed! Came here around 9:30AM because I was craving Bingsoo for breakfast. Really liked the ambiance of the place! The small potted trees lined against the shelves on the wooden walls instantly made me feel relaxed and happy. Since it was my first time here, and it was pretty early in the morning, I decided to get the original Cocohodo Bingsoo to go, which is $ 5.95. 10 minutes later, the Bingsoo was ready(yay)! When I peered into the bag, I noticed that there was ice at the bottom to keep the Bingsoo cold. I was so astonished because I only see that kind of stuff in Korean dramas, LOL. I was so hype that I just couldn’t wait to eat it at home and quickly dug in. There were two of the signature Cocohodo walnut pastries to complement really rich helpings of mochi, sliced almonds, chopped walnuts, and red bean paste. A scoop of vanilla ice cream was placed in the center of the bowl to complete the masterpiece. The layer below that is mainly snow-like shaved ice, but that did not affect the taste at all. Ah… so good! FYI, the shaved ice here is nothing like that of Snowdays. The shaved ice at Cocohodo is more compressed and grainier like real snow, while the shaved ice at Snowdays is more light, fluffy and broken apart.

I’ve been here 1.5 times. How were you there 1.5 times you ask? Let me explain. The place closed at 10pm. I showed up at 9:40pm. Figured i would grab something and eat quick. As I looked up the menu for the«bingsoo» the cashier was cleaning up and quickly said no more shaved ice for the day! She was rude and I understand you’re having a long day, but don’t take it out on me. The second time i got there at 11am just in case they were cleaning and getting ready to close up. I ordered the greentea bingsoo. The flavor was bland. The walnut pastry was the best part. Not worth the hype. At least not for me. Even my friends were disappointed at my suggestion to give this place another shot.

I was a bit disappointed at the spot others called the«best bingsoo» :(The café itself has really cute décor and friendly workers but the bingsoo was just okay for me. I got the green tea bingsoo which came with their signature walnut pastry, green tea icecream, mochi, and assorted nuts(almonds, walnuts). The ice was shaved nicely but the bingsoo as a whole was very average tasting. I can’t put my exact finger on why, but I was really disappointed. I personally prefer Café 1 of a Kind’s bingsoo. My friend bought a large bag of their walnut pastry and gave me one, and although I thought it was tasty, it didn’t really taste like anything special to me. It was lukewarm and slightly cold in the middle :(It would’ve been a lot better if it were fresh and warm since I believe they use a machine to make the walnut pastry. I saw a lot of people who really enjoyed their dessert so I would definitely give it a try, but don’t expect to be blown away.

I came to Cocohodo with the wrong expectations. My friend said go to cocohodo for shaved ice. I was craving shaved ice. But I was craving Taiwanese style shaved ice. So when that friend and the bf and I shared a large green tea shaved ice, I was taken by surprise when 1. I couldn’t mix flavors 2. I couldn’t pick toppings and 3. there was matcha powder on the ice. There were sliced almonds, walnuts, sunflower seeds, two pieces of walnut pastries, mochi and some green tea ice cream. They also gave us a side shot glass of(I’m guessing) condensed milk. The consistency of the ice was great. Very soft and pillowy. The flavor was a bit milder than I prefer. The walnut pastries were pretty good but I was not a fan of all the other nuts. Overall, it was refreshing on a hot day but was not what I was hoping for.

Love the addition of small bites of walnut goodness in my pat bingsoo. I opted for their original but the green tea bingsoo is good as well. I appreciate the smaller portions as well which makes it perfect to share different flavors with friends! Enjoy this treat while trying to cool off during the summer.

I like the walnut pastries here. It has a walnut piece in the walnut shaped pastry and is has red bean paste in it. It is not that sweet either so thats a plus. I would buy them for friends if I’m visiting their house or something. I had the coffee and green tea shaved ices here. They included a walnut pastry in each shaved ice which was nice because i got to try it for the first time. The ice is comparable to the ice at other places like woolys and snowdays. Here, they provide more toppings which is nice. For $ 6, i would say this expensive because its just flavored ice. Their bigger size is $ 10. I’d come again for the walnut pastries.

I think everything about this place is great. But please, I ask that y’all utilize the order numbers and call them out when items are ready to be served! Don’t be shy!

I ordered a large coffee bingsoo along with a large bag of walnut pastries. It was my second time trying their coffee bingsoo but I don’t remember it being this freaking amazing. I don’t know if they changed the way they serve it but it was the best bingsoo I had in Queens. The shaved ice was like snow — so heavenly soft and slightly comparable to the shaved ice at Snowdays Shavery in the city(except that Snowdays is milk-based while Cocohodo is water-based, which I like more! It’s more refreshing and less heavy). It was gently covered with coffee and served with a scoop of coffee ice cream, a slice of cheesecake, a walnut pastry, chocolate shavings, whipped cream, and drizzled with caramel syrup. Gahhh, I want some more now! The place was kept clean, like always. The girl at the register was really kind and didn’t mind me asking a bunch of questions. Thank you for your sweet service! I will be back.

Discovered these walnut pastries when a friend came and brought a box of these over. We asked her where she got them from and she said Cocohodo. Cocohodo is a relatively new shop located on Northern blvd between 158th&159th Street. Cocohodo is all about these walnut pastries so if you are looking for a place for lunch or dinner, Cocohodo might not be the place. Parking: There are plenty of street parking around the area either on Northern blvd or the side streets. Décor & Seating: Very similar to most Korean style coffee shop, décor in Cocohodo is very simple yet elegant. Bright and clean with very comfortable seating. There are approximately 16 seats inside the shop and 1 unisex restroom. The best description for them are like small soft little pancake balls filled with smooth walnut/red bean paste, not very sweet nor very creamy. They are best eaten when it is hot, I think they are good but I can’t say they are extraordinary, however they do come in very cute packaging(either in a bag or in gift boxes) and each pastry is warped individually. Price: Reasonable– The small bag(9pcs) goes for $ 4.75 while the XL bag(30pcs) goes for $ 12.95 Gift boxes are a little more expensive(12pc) for $ 6.95 and the large box(54pcs) — &38.45 Overall: Cocohodo is a great place to pick up these little walnut pastries for friends and family. The place is clean and the staff are friendly. The walnut pastries are tasty if you are into walnut and red bean but if not, Cocohodo might not be a place for you unless you are just looking for a place to grab coffee/chat with friends.

Came here cause I always see it on the bus but never walked passed it. It was pretty crowded at around 4. I’m not familiar with this pastry, so I didn’t know this was a popular thing in Korea. I got a box of it and their green tea latte. I didn’t order as i needed to use the bathroom, so my friend ordered. So, i can’t say anything about the service here. But their bathroom is big and pretty clean. The pastries themselves are good. Nice chunk of red bean filling and actual walnut on the outer shell. Hm. Didn’t wow me that much. But their green tea latte was very smooth and yummy. I really liked it and wished they had larger size drinks.
