I’m kinda shocked at the good reviews. I went there with a friend and got the beer and fried chicken combo. They only had Coors Light… which really isn’t my thing… Their chicken was nothing special… very basic, and boring. It was just edible. I’m not going back.

Came across this place by reading reviews on a Chinese website so decided to give a try even though flushing is kind of far from where I live. It was well worth my one-hour-trip. Chicken soup was their signature dish, either herb or spicy, or with seafood. We had the spicy version, with the pot also filled with corns, mushroom, rice cake and potatoes. They had many complementary dishes so we were almost full even before the chicken soup came onto table. Strongly suggest the wine marinated raw crab with scallion. Not crowded at all, a nice place for friends gather-together.

Lets get straight down to business(to defeat the Huns). Jk. But seriously if you’re putting chicken in the name of your restaurant, you better make sure that your chicken is on point. That being said, I’ll try to outline my experience here. Walked in, décor was whatever but who the heck cares about that when you’re hungry for chicken. This place used to be a Pho32 and it looks pretty much exactly the same on the inside. I came to this place with my parents because we’re Korean and apparently it was some Korean«eat hot chicken on a hot day while you sweat profusely» day but I don’t get it. Guess I’m not cultured enough in that area. The AC works well though so don’t worry about sweating too much if at all. We ordered the samgyetang(boiled chicken stew thing) and it came in a pot that resembled something my dad used to use in the bathtub. That is totally irrelevant but anyways it boils in front of you with the whole chicken, potatoes, mushrooms, green onions, rice cakes, and corn. After boiling for a bit everything is ready to eat. How did it taste? The broth was pretty good and the chicken was, as my mom eloquently put it, «just chicken.» Some parts were dry while some were a bit more juicy, but overall quite bland unless you add the sauce they provide on the side which is pretty great. Still, no complaints as the samgyetang was about as good as you can get it with the added benefit of giant portions. If you like samgyetang and are craving it, then this place would be a pretty great choice for you. If you’re not the biggest fan of samgyetang like me, then I’m sure this place knows what it is doing with chicken so check it out. tl;dr — Solid place. Solid, authentic Korean food. You will be full. Chicken.

We ordered herb chicken today, it is so delicious and good for health. I suggest whoever goes for the first time order the chicken combo. You will get many sides and four chicken dishes. must go!

Maybe it seems a bit impetuous to give a five-star review of a new place, based on take-out that has traveled from Flushing to Astoria. However, the food was so delicious and held up well enough through its arduous journey through the borough of Queens, that I feel strongly enough to stand behind a rave review. The first real week of lovely weather in New York after a bitterly long winter, and naturally I find myself down and out with a bad cold and sore throat. One of my kind friends brought me food from the newly opened Dakamari — specifically their DakJuk and Dak GomTang. Both totally hit the spot and were still warm from their long journey. The DakJuk is like a Korean version of congee, just as satisfying but less salty, with shredded chicken and scallion. Totally comforting, just the right thickness and consistency to match the flavor. Yum. The Dak GomTang was even better. It was a chicken based broth with shredded chicken. The broth itself was milky in texture and thickness, and tasted almost like there was oxtail involved. Hands down one of the most delicious soups I’ve had. The kim chi and pickled radish that came with the dishes were also enjoyable, along with an assortment of picked vegetables in a separate container — carrots, asparagus, cucumber — if that’s your thing. It goes quite well with juk/congee type dishes. Super impressed with the quality of this place. If only it weren’t so far! We definitely need more authentic Korean places in Astoria.
