One star isn’t fair, b/c we didn’t even go there, but I just learned they’re no longer serving Peking Duck! I called to make a reservation, and was told it’s Korean Barbecue. wtf? It might be great Korean Barbecue: who knows?

I can no longer recommend this place. The wait staffs(how ever new or temporarily they may be) are poorly trained, the main chef left and the dishes just doesn’t taste the same anymore. This is what happens when the owners don’t spend adequate time at the restaurant and the place becomes mis-managed. It’s really quite a pitty, b/c they are probably one of the last authentic Peking Duck place left in NY.

Well let’s see .why the 1 star… ok here we go… 1st the Peking duck was just ok. They cut it into many pieces and bring it to you so you don’t get as many and I feel like they rip you off. Their portions are quite small and considering they put everything in large serve ware you would like wow I get so much but noooooo it’s sooo little lol They don’t have many items on their menu. When you order something they are like nope, no no and huh??? Man you don’t have crab ok… where’s the fish at??? and soda what??? Don’t waste your $ and go here. Not worth it.

DIne-In experience: Definitely not memorable in any way, which deeply saddens me because I love Peking duck… the crispy skin, the fatty goodness, the tender meat… it wasn’t satisfying at all here. Take-Out experience: The guy who took my order and the waitresses here barely speak English but I’m glad my Chinese is decent enough to communicate what I wanted. But 30 min for just 1 duck?! The place was completely empty… that didn’t make sense to me. When I got home and took everything out, I was disappointed. The portion is smaller than normal but at least they were fairly generous with the cucumbers, scallions, and hoisin sauce. Definitely not my first choice but not my last choice either.

Disappointment coming from a Beijinger! I absolutely adore Peking duck and have been eating it since I was a little kid(fob alert! was born in Beijing but moved to U.S. when I was 6!). The duck itself isn’t horrible here, i.e. the skin isn’t chewy and the meat is pretty tender. However the whole Peking duck experience they provided was a total letdown! When we first sat down, the waitress asked us if we were going to get the duck because it takes about 30 mins for it to be cooked. We were still waiting for my uncle to park so told her we’re still deciding. When everyone was at the table, we decided to get a whole duck. They brought a pretty sizable duck out to us, sliced in the back, and came with a plate of maybe at most 20 slices of duck!!! WHEREISTHERESTOFMYDUCK? Then they bring out the pancakes that were rock hard after the first 5 minutes(aka not fresh and reheated). The cucumbers are pre-cut and probably have been sitting around for awhile because they were kinda soggy. They also gave us a plastic spoon for the Hoisin sauce(didn’t realize we were getting take out!). Anyways, I can overlook all of this if the duck was freshly roasted and actually took them the 30mins they had claimed it took. Once I bit into my duck, I realized it was not fresh! Yes, the skin was crispy and warm, but the actual meat was room temp!!! Why say when we sit down that it’s going to take 30mins to cook, when it probably took you 10 mins to microwave and«roast» that ish? Everything in the restaurant flavor wise isn’t so bad(we ordered 2 cold appetizers, an intestines dish that I refuse to eat, clams, a veggie dish and soup). However, you can tell that mostly everything is precooked and then reheated.

Ah where do I start. So it was my sister’s birthday and she wanted to eat peking duck and we didn’t want to go to Chinatown in NYC(no parking. it’s farther mehh). Anyways my sister saw some reviews on Unilocal and decided we should check it out. I think she was slightly disappointed that they didn’t serve any of her favorite items except the peking duck. And yes it wasn’t the Chinese food we are used to finding like cantonese or schezwan, but we ended up staying because we would hope that it would be awesome anyways since we eat EVERYTHING. We ordered the Peking Duck and it came with two other dishes. One dish was a cold appetizer of gizzards. Horribly boiled and tough as hell, no flavor and stinky. And yes I like my gizzards and that was mehhhh. Also we ordered the duck soup, WHICHDIDNOTCOMEOUTATALL. We had to ask our waiter 2ce where it was. And we sat all the way next to the kitchen and had to wave him down because every time he passed by us he didn’t even look to see how we’re doing. We ended up getting the soup in a TOGO bag and had to wait like 20 minutes for that. RIDICULOUS! We also ordered some type of intestine, pigs blood dish and it came out with those CRAZY hot peppers that were awesome. But for 15 bucks and this huge pot, you would think you got your money’s worth… but there were only a few pieces of edible food in there the rest wasn’t edible. It was really delicious, but they are so stingy on their portions! Anddd they didn’t have a lot of items on their menu. We asked for their crab, they ran out. We asked for this fish, they ran out. My mom asked for ginger ale, they looked at her funny. They don’t even cut the duck in front of you, for all I know they can be eating it in the back and only giving you a few pieces! Anyways, I was going to give it 2 stars but I realized that I would never step foot in this place again. After dinner we ended up going to corner 28 and getting roasted duck to take home lol.

We made a reservation for a table, and they did not have one for us when we arrived, party of 8. Very disappointing, as we wanted to try this restaurant. Not even a «sorry», just«you wait here».

This restaurant gives a good first impression — the décor is warm and welcoming with a slightly modern edge. However, the service was almost nonexistent. The food is tasty — we ordered the Peking Duck cooked 3 ways. You’ll have to order this as soon as you sit down because it takes awhile to prepare(there’s even a disclaimer in the menu). The peking duck and the stir fry dish came out in a reasonable amount of time but the soup took forever — and when we tried to ask about it, the waiters basically ignored us until we flagged them down with exaggerated movements. We were basically done with our entire meal before the soup came. The peking duck itself could’ve been a little more crispier for my liking but overall, not too bad. There is a deliciously spicy fish dish which I didn’t get the English name of(but in Chinese it’s «shui zhu yu» — basically fish cooked in water, deceiving, I know). If you like spicy food, definitely give this a try.

Peking duck was a big disappointment. If you are looking for real Peking duck I would recommend the real Peking Duck House located on 53rd St. on the East side in Manhattan. We decided to have the Peking Duck 3 ways — Peking duck, sauté’ed vegetable, hard tofu and some duck meat, and duck broth soup. They did not cut the duck in front of us. The vegetable thing was ok. The duck broth soup tasted worse than the broth soup you get complimentary from those chinese take-out places. It didn’t taste like duck and there was only 2 small pieces of duck bones! The service was so so, and no complimentary sliced fruit. We also had the sautéed potato, eggplant & pepper dish. It was too oily and flavor was just blah. Will not recommend. I will have to agree with the guy who had rated this place 1 star, I think the other ratings might have been faked.

I like this place, I would come back. It’s hard to describe the type of Chinese cuisine served here because they do a bit of everything, and featuring Peking duck as the restaurant name suggests(duck options displayed on the first page before a list of extensive appetizers). The Peking duck skin was incredibly crispy and delicious. Unfortunately, it was also a bit too greasy and the meat was a little bland; though with the condiments of scallion, cucumber, and sweet hoisin sauce, it was enjoyable. The fried string beans with pork and cumin beef were delicious and aggressive; subtle palettes beware. I would definitely come back and try the myriad of other dishes. The service was incredibly friendly and our server was very helpful.

Solid meal. We had a group of five people, and so the hostess recommended ordering one duck(kaoya) ahead of time and then ordering a few other dishes at the restaurant. We followed her advice and ordered one kaoya, braised pork belly with chestnuts in brown sauce(hong shao rou), three kinds of sauteed mushrooms, and three earthly delights(potato, eggplant, and green peppers/di san xian). As others have commented, Deyi does not carve the kaoya in front of you, which is a bit of a letdown, nor do they separate the skin from the meat. Further, the pancakes are huge — mooshu-sized. Nevertheless, the kaoya tastes good, and that’s what counts. The hong shao rou was also quite good, though the pork belly was pretty much all skin and fat. I rarely order pork, and so I don’t know if that is to be expected when ordering hong shao rou. The mushroom dish and di san xian were both terrific. This version of di san xian is head and shoulders above Fu Run’s. All in all, a fun time, and I will certainly be back.

Ok so apparently this place has been in business for only about 6 months. From the outside it looks like just about any other chinese restaurant out there. To be honest, I would never give this place a second glance. I’ve heard here and there that this place is good and HOOBOY were they right! The Peking Duck wasn’t made properly though but it was still good.(Peking duck — the chef is supposed to completely slice the skin off the meat and leave the meat on the side to eat. The meat was still attached to the skin). But it was still good. Ok for all you asians who know this dish, mayonnaise shrimp with broccoli and walnuts. It’s a popular chinese dish! Ok this place makes it unlike any i’ve ever tasted before! I can’t describe it, maybe it’s the use of kiwi and strawberry instead of walnuts? If you’re a big fan of spicy food, they make it VERY well here. It’s the type of spicy where you can’t taste it at first but it slowly creeps up on your tongue and sits there… but not in a painful way… I CANTEXPLAINIT!!! I’m sorry for not taking pics but I was really too busy stuffing my face. Next time though. OHAND free parking in their lot right around the corner! A BIG plus for flushing!

As the name suggests — fabulous Peking duck — 3 ways; Lamb with Cumin and pepper was spectacular; Braised fish with sweet and sour coconut sauce; 3 kinds of mushrooms sauteed; All followed by a spectacular dessert of steamed mashed yams with raisins, plums, and a sweet sauce. We had a fabulous group meal with Asian Food Foodies and we tried to focus on the Northern Chinese offerings. Advice: Bring a group and try everything that catches your eye.

I made a negative review of this restaurant as it deserved it, however it seems that it has been deleted. The first review seems that it was paid for(too many positives and sounds more like marketing than layman’s reviews). Food is OK, service is horrible.

Évaluation du lieu : 5 Downtown Flushing, Queens, NY
It’s about time Flushing has a restaurant that serves Peking Duck. Located at the location of the now-closed Northeast Restaurant, which actually appeared in the NY Times earlier this year, the recently opened Peking Duck House is not exactly situated in an area with a lot of foot traffic compared to the rest of the Downtown Flushing area. But while Northeast Restaurant’s offering was a niche regional selection, the famed Peking Duck has culinary fans all over China. So I hope Peking Duck House stays in business for a very long time. And from the fact that the restaurant was completely packed during the Sunday night that I stopped by to have some Peking Duck for the first time in a long time, I think it will do very well in the foreseeable future. Readers, I am certain that many of you who are familiar with Flushing’s culinary gifts know about the ever popular Peking Duck Stall located just one block from the subway station. For a dollar per Peking Duck wrap, that’s an awesome deal. But here’s the thing — it’s not authentic Peking Duck. That’s just roast duck they’re selling. The preparation of authentic Peking Duck is a time-intensive effort, part of which actually involves blowing air into the duck to seperate the meat from the skin and fat of the duck. It is also more expensive because of the work that’s required. There are actually not many restaurants in NYC that offers real Peking Duck, and Peking Duck House is(most likely) the only restaurant that offers authentic Peking Duck in the Downtown Flushing area. Or at least, it is the closest to the subway stop. But those who know better please do correct me if I’m wrong. Peking Duck House has two simple choices for Peking Duck. The first one, for $ 28, is the basic Peking Duck dish itself(duck, pancake wrap, spring onions, and hoisin sauce). The second option, for ten dollars more, is the Peking Duck dish plus a soup made with duck and a small dish of duck and suan cai, which is basically pickled cabbage. I chose the second option, and because I’m a glutton, I also ordered a dish of spicy shredded pork. As I wrote earlier, it was very busy at the restaurant, and I had to wait about 20 to 30 minutes for the food. The spicy shredded pork came out first. The meat was more chewy than I expected, but with the way it was seasoned with the soy sauce and chilli base, it actually worked perfectly and the dish turned out absolutely delicious. Next, the three duck dishes came. The meat of the duck was rightly separated from the skin and fat, and very tender. The clearest difference between Peking Duck and simple roast duck is the way that the meat has been separated. You can tell distinctly that it was not just cut from the skin and fat. The texture of the meat is also more tender and it is a lot less greasy. The pancake wrap in which you place the pieces of duck meat and skin was hot to the touch, so you can tell it was freshly made. This was very tasty, especially since it’s been a long time since I’ve had authentic Peking Duck. And sure enough, while I was eating, I managed to drip hoisin sauce on my jeans. I was reminded of what a high school girlfriend once said about me after watching me eat: «you can dress him up, but you can’t take him out.» I guess I haven’t changed much in terms of table manners. The duck and suan cai dish was basically just a mix of pieces of the duck meat from the Peking Duck and some suan cai, and the soup was pieces of the duck cooked in a simple broth. Both were OK, and were obviously two simple dishes that they threw together with leftover portions of the duck that was used for the main Peking Duck dish. Overall, Peking Duck house is a great restaurant. I love Peking Duck, but it is not something that I am especially ecstatic about. Having said that, I still have to respect the work that goes into its preparation. And while most people would obviously go there for the Peking Duck, this restaurant also has a great offering of other dishes, too. I’d definitely go back. heard about this new place for a while and it delivered all that i had anticpated. the duck was just great. crispy, juicy, tender. what is even more surprising is the duck soup. very rare to find a good peking duck soup, often tastes like water. they really cooked the duck carcass for hours to get the flavor in that broth. havent tried the other dishes there, really no need to. make sure you come here with at least 4 people or else you will be way stuffed like a duck.
