Dumplings taste ok, but I think was over price. And I got the cold rice with my meal! Omg. Definitely not coming back!

Was ordered 2 dumpling, crispy whole fish and garlic ribs. Dumplings are pretty good, I will give 4 star for those, 2 star for fish(cause sauce was too sweet). in the end, I will give Negative points for the ribs. Seriously! The ribs was re-fired food! So hard to eat! And too salty! Service are fine. But I don’t feel happy that they give me cold rice lol

This place in in my area in flushing ny I went here wanting good dumpling and that’s what I ate when I got there. It was my first time going there and it was very nice I ordered 3 different type of dumpling. Chicken and broccoli, spicy beef and crab meat. The chicken and broccoli was to die for and I ordered vegetable noodles they were great also the atmosphere was chill the waiters/waitress was very nice and the price isn’t bad at all if ur want great dumpling come here and enjoy.

Love this place. It was very serene, and beautifully decorated. The service was great. And best of all? Delicious and unique fried wontons with a sweet sauce for $ 6. I mean I felt like I was at a high end restaurant with $ 100 tab.

with a GROUPON or LIVINGSOCIAL, this place would be ranked 4 stars. First off, the service is great. The waiters are attentive in terms of refilling your tea, and they are super friendly and patient. This was important as me and my squad to do not speak chinese. The atmosphere was also awesome. They have booths that provide more privacy than crowded flushing restaurants. It is also super clean which is nice. I would say dumplings, were above average, but they are not worth the menu price. Also, keep in mind that your order will take around 20 minutes to come out. This is not necessarily a bad thing. It means that all your dumplings are made fresh to order. just keep in mind that if you are in a rush, go to the dollar dumpling spot instead. Cheers, Taylor

The distance between Citi Field and Dumpling Galaxy varies wildly depending on whether or not it’s over 90 degrees, you have your father with a bad back in tow and are currently on Tashkent time. None of these difficulties could keep my part of four from the restaurant, which is tucked in the back of a new mall in a corner of Flushing’s Chinatown. Now while the huge variety of dumplings has led in part to fawning press in the New York Times and elsewhere, it’s actually not in service of the first time dinner. There are so many different kinds to choose from, with traditional options mixed in with more elaborate creations. Frankly, neither the Chinese nor the English menu were particularly good in helping us figure out what to order, so I chose more or less at random with a few dishes. The crispy potstickers, connected at the top in an order, were a highlight, as were the lamp. Shrimp dumplings missed out on the plump simplicity of the best har gow, and a vegetable dish was a nice substitution. I’m sure this place is a mob scene around lunch, but at 4 p.m. on a Sunday we were on the only people around. It was worth the trek.

Nice ambiance, located in a small mall. Lots of selections. The dumplings were good, with lots of variations. Service was pretty inattentive especially cause there were only two other customers there’s, but the food arrived quickly once we ordered. Prices were reasonable I wouldn’t rave about this place but it wasn’t bad. It does have a pretty space.

I have been all up and down Flushing trying to find the best dumplings. I must say this is the BEST place for dumplings with a wide variety of traditional/non-traditional filings. We got great service from Jenny and Lucas! Would definitely recommend this place and make sure to get some of the traditional Chinese dishes as well.

I stopped by here briefly at night to pick up some dumplings for dinner and it was the perfect little thing. The menu had a lot of different Chinese food but my eyes went to the dumplings immediately. They have quite a lot of combinations that you wouldn’t expect like tomato and egg — great for vegetarians looking to venture out of the typical veggie dumpling. Of course, they also have pork, beef, and chicken combinations too to satisfy any meat lover. I got the chicken and broccoli(never had that in a dumpling!) and it tasted like any other Chinese dumpling to be honest. I wouldn’t have known it was chicken and broccoli if I couldn’t see the broccoli pieces chopped up. The meat just looked mysterious and didn’t taste like chicken but if they say it is, I guess it is… or at least I hope it is. Nonetheless, these were juicy big pieces and 6 come in one order. I ordered 12 and it was more than expected. After 10, I was too full to finish the rest. These are handmade and made to order, but it only takes about 10 – 15 minutes. I told them I was in a rush because I had a train to catch and they were pretty accommodating. My dumplings were ready in 10 minutes! It’s more expensive than other dumpling places in flushing so I wouldn’t necessarily come here again but the dumplings were definitely better quality — more filling, bigger pieces, thin dumpling wrapper.

So many types of fillings!!! I was quite surprised by the selection. Their menu is ridiculous and goes on for pages. Simple pork and cabbage? No way, let’s make it fancy and do different combos like pork with pumpkin or duck with mushrooms(the two types of dumplings we ordered). My friend and I ended up getting a tofu, bean, mustard green appetizer which was a healthy start to a tasty meal. The dumplings we ordered were the ones mentioned above. Each order was six dumplings that ranged from around $ 5 to $ 7. Flushing standards, yes, it’s pricey but there was a lot of filling and the skins were not too thick. For dessert, we ordered the peanut tang yuan. Not my favorite of the dumplings. I was expecting more of a peanut butter mixed with sugar type filling in mochi, not two whole peanuts mixed with the sugar in mochi. Overall, the place is decent. The service was little slow but they were nice.

Came here for lunch. Place was not busy yet we still had to get up to get a waiter to come over. Pan fried dumplings had weird coating and all 6 were connected by this bottom coating. AND they didn’t even flip it over for presentation on the place… We got them upside down. Ordered a hot pot with ribs … Came with 8 little pieces of rib about an inch long and just clear noodle and some cabbage. When we complained that it had no taste they would not let us change it for something else. Looks are very deceiving and we will not be back here in the future

An even 3 and it’s debatable if it even merits this. I must admit that this place is one of the cleaner joints in downtown Flushing. However, the food was hit or miss for the most part. I have them major props for a clean establishment and an innovative menu. Food, however, was sub par. Highlights are dumplings with various fillings. Portions were nice, but double the cost of other similarly established dumpling joints like Nan Xiang or Kung Fu Bao. Hot and sour soup was a bowl full of bad vinegar. With all the fanfare, I was a little disappointed.

Even though Dumpling Galaxy is located in a mall with a full view of shoppers, it’s large, clean, and far from what I expected a restaurant in a mall to be. For one, the service was pretty remarkable. Our waiter was incredibly attentive and kind — he informed us that some of the dumplings would take longer, so he encouraged us to put in those orders first. Water glasses were filled at regular intervals, and he had the nicest demeanor without being annoying or pushy. There were many dumpling fillings to choose from, but since I went with my mom and sister, both not so very adventurous, we stuck with simpler fillings. The soup dumpling was a great hit. While the skin was too thin for my liking and resulted in too many unfortunate spills(the tops of the dumplings were especially too thin — how were we supposed to transfer them onto our spoons?), the soup and pork fillings were enough to keep us fully satisfied. Light, but flavorful. The fried dumplings with pork and chives were good too! There was the crispy, thin, fried film along the bottom, but it wasn’t greasy — it was actually as light as a cracker, but even thinner. The only thing we didn’t like were the shrimp dumplings because the insides were too mushy, and lacked any sort of shrimp flavor. It was like eating an unflavored matzo ball. Pass. Likelihood of another visit: Now that the colder months are quickly approaching us, I’m reluctant to travel so far because I am a lazy, cold adult-child, but I would go again at some point.

I’ve been hearing mixed reviews about Dumpling Galaxy which kept almost kept me from trying it at all. Growing up in Flushing with a Mama Chef, I’ve had my share of dumplings. The décor is clean and open, and I like how they have mini-booths. The service is slow but very friendly. The menu was exciting, since they have a large variety of unique dumpling fillings– but that makes you wonder about the quality, right? Well, I was pleasantly surprised. The lamb and cilantro was nice and juicy, and seasoned well. Lamb is strong in general, so if you don’t like lamb, this isn’t for you. The bitter melon and pork dumpling was one of my favorites, since I’ve never had bitter melon(one of my favorite things) in a dumpling before. It tasted very strongly of bitter melon, so if that’s not your thing, this isn’t for you either. Someone else ordered the egg and tomato dumpling, which on paper seemed kind of odd to me. It was served plump and juicy, and very fresh. I was surprised at how refreshing it was, especially after eating a bunch of meat dumplings. This is one I look forward to trying again. I really love the idea of this place, and it isn’t executed all that terribly. Growing up in Flushing you get used to the idea of 5 dumplings for $ 1, and this is far from that. This is table service, so don’t go in expecting dumpling cart food. These are the most expensive dumplings I’ve ever had at 6 for $ 6 – 8, but it was decent enough that I’m planning to go back soon to explore the rest of their dumpling options. They only accept cards for bills over $ 25. There is 1 hour free parking with a $ 30 meal, but the service is so slow I’m not sure that’s enough time… –_–

Two things that are rare to find in a Chinese restaurant in flushing that this establishment has: cleanliness and friendly waitstaff. Variety was great and I was kind of impressed with the soup dumplings. Super thin skin so easy to break but the soup in the dumpling was really good. Ordered a few variety of steamed dumplings and favorite of the night was the duck and mushroom. Braised pork belly entrée was great too. Would def come back.

This place has some of the most delicious steamed dumplings I’ve had. Scallop+Chive: good started dumpling, was very smooth and light tasting, with a small kick Lamb+Cilantro: my favorite item by far, it was so delicious, I highly recommend it. Scrambled Egg+Fresh Tomato: my friend ordered this, I was not into it, but a good option for vegetarians. Sautéed Snow Pea Shoot+Garlic: First of all, you must really love garlic to order this, there are at least 10 sliced garlic cloves mixed in, that being said, its delicious, though next time I will ask them to not use any oil so it will be even healthier. It was a little pricey for a vegetable dish $ 14.95, but still worth it in my opinion. Fish+Preserved Vegetable Soup: First off, its huge, definitely enough for two people, maybe even three. Its salty, tangy and delicious and the fish is soft and buttery. Service: The servers were super nice and attentive and they told me that if you spend over $ 30, you get a free parking coupon(incase you park in the mall parking lot) I will definitely come back, there are more than 100 dumpling fillings to choose from, I want to try the Duck+Mushroom and Curry Beef dumplings next.

Ya need chopsticks *and* a spoon for the pork soup dumplings! Our very friendly waiter Zu explained(in English!) how they cook down stock, mix it with meat after it has gelled, wrap it in dumpling casings then steam it. We were fortunate enough to get a fresh batch, 6 large amalgamations of pork and dough that gush hot broth into your mouth, $ 8. Dumpling Galaxy is an elegant temple to the art of the dumpling, gorgeously decorated and spotlessly clean(not some hole in the wall shack). Three beers on tap: Stella, Bud and goose Island IPA. Just $ 3 for a pint, w00t! Also got the lamb cilantro dumplings, meaty and perfect for me, even better with the house chili sauce, but a little too long on the green stuff for my dining companion, again 6 for $ 8. Mushroom and eggplant dumplings were excellent, if a little bland. Finally we tried the shrimp and celery, pan fried dumplings that arrived decorated with a light fried batter shell, tasty and delicately flavored. Memo to self: try the hot and spicy lamb curry dumpling next time! Vegetarian rating: 4 stars, many different egg, vegetable, tofu and other choices. Leave room for a desert dumpling! The eight treasures has six nuts, raisins and pear. Nuts include peanuts, walnuts, pumpkin seeds, pine nuts, sesame seeds and one more(dang it I can’t remember). My only gripe is that it runs into money rather quickly. Dumplings are not cheap here.

So. I have recently become obsessed with dumplings and this is the first place I’ve ventured to in Flushing. Though I don’t have much dumpling experience to compare it to, I definitely enjoyed it. It was hard to find — it’s inside of a mini-mall and I didn’t really see a sign outside for it. There’s a parking garage around the corner from it and the restaurant covers the first hour(just make sure to ask them for the coupon). They don’t have a bathroom — you have to go downstairs to use the mall bathroom(still, it’s pretty close by). The décor is modern and very cute. Seats are comfortable. The prices are good — most prices were $ 6.95 or $ 7.95 for 6 dumplings. We tried the Steamed Shrimp Dumpling, Lamb & Cilantro Dumpling, Shrimp Scallop & Crab Meat Dumpling, Pork & Chives Pan-fried Dumpling, Chicken Pan-fried Dumpling, and Pork Soup Dumplings. My favorites were the Steamed Shrimp as well as the Pork & Chives Pan-fried. My husband and our friend really enjoyed all of them, especially the Lamb & Cilantro. The soup dumpling was OK, nothing great, not much soup in them — definitely will find a better place for them. One star off because the service was a bit weird. It wasn’t necessarily bad, just weird because of a language barrier. For example, we ordered 3 drinks and they brought only one, not realizing we ordered 3. We placed a second order of dumplings and they never came. Instead, a waitress came and asked if we wanted our check. We had to remind her about the dumplings that never came.

Came on a Friday evening around 8PM with my family and got lucky the restaurant was not crowded. We got the biggest table in the restaurant which seems like it could fit 6 – 8(we had 5 people). The menu is very exciting! There are so many different dumpling varieties you could try. They had pages dedicated to their signature dumplings, seafood dumplings, pork dumplings, beef dumplings, lamb dumplings, vegetable dumplings, pan-fried dumplings and dessert dumplings. They also have other dishes if you want something other than dumplings(but why would you at dumpling Galaxy!) like vegetables, pig ears, fish soup, etc. My family was so excited we ordered at least one type of variety from each section. Overall, I still prefer pork in my dumplings as my main protein. My most favorite was the Pork with shrimp, egg and chives dumpling. For dessert I had the pumpkin with sesame dumplings(aka Tang Yuan) and the peanut tang yuan. Both were so delicious and filling.

We came to dumpling galaxy after seeing the 100 different kinds of dumplings article on grubstreet. We had to wait 45 minutes for a seat, and the restaurant was not organized in terms of seating and it seemed a bit chaotic at times. One hostess said to just line up, while 10 minutes later another hostess started taking down names. By the time we were seated, we were extremely hungry! Unfortunately, none of the dumplings were that great. They were also extremely expensive, $ 7 – 8 per order of 6. We tried the following dumplings: duck and mushroom, octopus, curry beef, pork with shrimp, egg & chives, and money bags. In case you couldn’t tell from the picture, the money bags is deep fried and resembles an egg roll with phyllo dough as the top part of the bag. I wasn’t very impressed by it. I would recommend the curry beef. Alas, the duck and mushroom was bland and just tasted like any other dumpling. The octopus just tasted like a fishball. For dessert, we ordered the hawthron with sweet nuts dumpling. It was much too sweet for my tastes, but definitely a different take on dessert.
