Flushing Manor Nursing Home

SIgh. Like the majority of nursing homes, this place resembles the common perception one has of nursing homes being largely uncaring places filled with lazy, indifferent, under trained staff who just want your MONEY. When they say nursing homes are FOR PROFIT businesses, they’re not joking. Everyone here with the exception of one or two employees are just clocking in. Especially the social worker who is patronizing, insincere, flighty, flaky, dizzy, FAKE. She and they don’t care about the resident’s here. They only care about protecting their butt and their salary.

With sincere concern to visit a good friend’s mother, I was appalled at the state of her condition. Lying in bed shared among three roommates as she was freezing with a very thin blanket when the air conditioner is cranked high as the outside temperature is blistering cold. With humility and modesty, my good friend’s mother did not express her discontent state but I know when an elderly is extremely cold as I’ve had years of personal experience of my beloved grandmother.
Without further ado, the two of us immediately voiced our dissatisfaction to the nurse and nurse technicians on duty. How do you allow an elderly to freeze when this is a rehabilitation/​nursing home as the mission is to facilitate care so patients can be independent and fully function to be ultimately released resuming one’s normal life? They refused to provide a comforter or a quilt blanket, ergo I grab the closet thing of a bed spread so she would be warm. It pains me when an elderly freeze lying in bed as it is simply unacceptable.
Like major hospitals as Bellevue, Flushing Manor Nursing Home has no attending doctors on duty for the entire weekend.
