Bubble tea places seem to be a dime a dozen these days, especially in Chinese enclaves like Flushing and Elmhurst. Gong Cha has a standard drink menu along with some unique twists on the standard boba beverage pantheon. In general, this is a pretty good place and has better quality than the no-name shops and is on par with established chains like Kung Fu Tea and CoCo. Milk tea is good here since its the right balance between tea and milk and the bubbles are the right texture. I’m not saying I’ll go out of my way to come here but if I get a craving and I’m nearby, I’ll definitely swing in.

My friend bragged about this place for the longest time and I decided to try it to see if it lived up to all the hype. I ordered Oolong Milk Tea with white pearls. Not impressed. It was meh. I’m just not used to the pearls being so jelly the way there’s is. Don’t get me wrong this place is a good try but it just wasn’t for me and my preferences.

Got the 3Js earl green tea with jelly, pudding, and tapioca with 30% jasmine sugar. I think this was enough sugar for me since the pudding would help add some sweetness to the drink, but 50% sugar wouldn’t be bad. The drink was good, but one cup had me filled up for my bubble tea cravings for at least the next few months… Note: They only have medium or large sizes.

More often than not, I am satisfied with the taste of the tea chain’s drinks at this location. For the most part, the workers mix the contents well that the drink doesn’t leave an unpleasant taste in my mouth(unlike the other branch in Flushing) and meet my requested ice and sugar levels. The workers treat the customers in an acceptable manner. Many times, I’ve been greeted with a «Hello» or «Hi» and accommodated with friendly demeanors. There was one instance where the workers prepared the incorrect drink for my order, but they committed a good gesture by consequently offering me the drink. The line here is normally shorter compared with the branch in New World Mall. Overall, the service and drinks are much better by a huge degree than the other location nearby. If it weren’t for the traffic of pedestrians that I would have to painstakingly endure, I would frequent this Flushing branch over the other.

not consistent with flavoring but I think that is because of my change of sugar content. I love the fact that I can ask how much ice /sugar is in the boba. go to Pearl milk tea– lemon ai-yu with white pearl. love my Boba

Walking pass and seeing that they were offering 2 for 1, we thought we’d give it a try. Upon walking in, I could smell the Oolong and it was so fragrant, that’s what I wanted! Sadly, it smelled better than it tasted. It was watered down and not flavorful at all. Glad we didn’t spend too much money on it as they were both thrown out before half was consumed.

Don’t even bother asking for less sugar in your teas because it seems the staff don’t really understand English. Both times I’ve asked for less sugar, the drinks were made way too sweet. Last time they made the wrong milk tea drink, added red bean topping to the matcha and charged me for the topping when I didn’t even order that drink! Also when you order hot drinks, they only fill the cup 2⁄3 of the way which is totally not worth what you paid for compared to other similar bubble tea places in the neighborhood. I will not be going back to this location.

I love Bubble teas! This is a nice place, service is good and the best thing, there’s no limit for debit or credit cards. You can also order your drinks online in flushing . I went there and they gave me their stamp card.

I am in love with their lemon ai-yu w/white pearls tea. Super refreshing and delicious. The only thing is I don’t really enjoy overly sugary drinks so I always get it with sans sugar and less white pearls and find the formula to be perfect. I love that they have frequent buyer stamp cards which I get plenty of mileage out of. They also have samples of popcorn regularly which my daughter gets a kick out of. Their other bubble teas I have gotten are the green or black milk bubble tea, lychee, and earl grey. I haven’t been disappointed yet, and am always tempted to buy a ton of drinks when I pass by. If you’re lucky, you can catch their BOGO free promotion which they do a couple of times a year.

Lemon Ai Yu — This was supposed to be one of their most popular drinks but I thought it was just OK. Liked the drink but I didn’t like the small pieces of lemon peels in the drink. The taste of the peels just made me want to pick it out all out. I do however love the white pearls. Never had the white pearls before but they were chewy good.

Tried their popular Earl Grey Milk Tea and while I definitely enjoyed the creamy texture, the tea flavor was weak and underwhelming.

This tea shop seems to have potential for growth. I enjoy the variety on their menu, and friendly associates. I would say that the drinks I’ve tried here do taste/look somewhat noticeably different than the other places I’ve tried. For example, the Taro Milk Tea taste a bit more grainy and creamery, but taste great. I was surprised that they had Lychee Milk Tea also, as it did taste much different then the one I usually order from Chattime. The Lychee flavor seems to be more intense and maybe a little too overpowering for me. Overall, I would say the flavors of the drinks are just a Tad bit more intensifying than most bubble tea shops. They also have a rewards card which you get credit for every time you purchase a drink. Keeps me coming back!

I stumble upon this teahouse this morning on my way to finding T-Swirl Crêpe. Haha… funny story. So the T-Swirl Crêpe stand sign was outside this established so when I went in I was like«what the hell, Gong Cha… ummmm I am in the wrong place.» But of course not wanting to look stupid and walk right out I decided to look at their menu and order a drink. Let me tell you, I am glad I did and also glad I accidentally stumble into this newly open place cause their drink is AWESOME! I ordered the Hot Foaming Milk Green Tea with 50% sugar and extra foam(Tip: check in on Unilocal and you get a free extra foam for any foaming milk drink). My drink was delicious with just the right sweetness. I am not sure about the other drinks but if you are a green tea lover like me, this drink will not disappoint. The second thing I love about their drinks is the lid for the cups. Unique plastic reusable lids with safety opening that you can save. What a bonus! Will be saving my lid to use with other cups… hahaha… Another tip, not sure if it’s a promotion or ongoing thing but they have a special that if you buy one drink you get any second drink for 50% off.

This place is SO inconsistent that it’s laughable. The first time I ever had their Earl Grey Milk Tea with grass jelly, tapioca and something else, I was floored. Before this, I always ordered milk tea at Kung Fu Tea because I loved their flavor. But a sip of the Gong Cha’s Earl Grey had me changing my tune. HOWEVER, the next time I went and ordered the same thing, it was noticeably different and tasted off. I attribute this to the fact that the first time I went, the owner was present and the second time I went, there were a bunch of teenagers serving/hanging out. These teenage employees also had their groupie friends hanging out in the shop and in front of the shop, smoking and causing raucous, which turned potential customers off. My advice to the owner — hire a better crew or else I can’t imagine your shop will stay around much longer. There’s another Gong Cha location within New World Mall that I may try out but it looks like I will be going back to my dependable Kung Fu Tea.

This is a new store on Union and currently offering Buy one, get one free of Milk Foam Tea and Pearl Milk Tea. Interesting variety of Tea flavors and topping has distinguished Gong Cha from other bubble tea places. My personal favorite is Milk Foam with Wintermelon Tea with less ice, 50% sugar. It is like condensed milk cream… so yummy. I have found that it tastes best when you peel the cover off because you get the most flavor of creamy milk with slight salty flavor from the top then mixed with tea.
