I think I might have found my 2nd go to place if Shake Shack’s line is too long. Keith’s Grill has been a mainstay at Citi Field since its inception, but I’ve never tried it. Wanting something different from the Premio Italian sausage and the long lines for Shake Shack/Blue Smoke, I was finally able to give Keith’s Grill a try. The prices are high, $ 12.50 for a burger. I got the«Mex Burger» a 6 oz. patty with Monterey Jack cheese, guacamole, lettuce, jalapeño peppers, and chipotle mayo(more ingredients that I might have missed). Also comes with Wise potato chips and a tootsie pop. Gotta say, despite my $ 27 total(I also got a water and a shock top Belgian Waffle beer), it was really good with the perfect zing and zest. It’s a bit messy, but didn’t miss a beat. And yes, getting the beer helped with the peppers. It tempers the heat to make the burger taste better. Plus it was super refreshing and easy to drink. I’ll definitely order this fiesta in my mouth again. Keith Hernandez played a mean first base, and his burger is just as mean, in the good way when it comes to food. You should get too!

With so many food options at Citifield I like to try a different one on each visit. Last night I tried Keiths Grill which is the namesake spot of my favorite player Keith Hernandez. Now you would think a place named after one of the all time great Mets and a current broadcaster would get a better spot, I swear we walked past it twice! I guess in a way its good as it keeps the lines down. I got the Keiths burger which is the more conventional burger, the Mex burger is fancier but I didnt trust my stomach. The Gold Glove Burger is a large Pat Lafreida burger on a really good, sturdy roll with lettuce, tomatoes, excellent pickle slices, cheddar cheese, mustard and mayo. It comes with a bag of Wise potato chips and a Tootsie pop which Hernandez eats through the games. The burger was really good and didnt seem like that much of a ripoff at 12.50 especially since we got ther before 630 and got the Beers of the World 5 $ beers offer. Let the sheep line up for that other stands overrated burger, I will be eating my Keith Burger while u wait for your greasebomb.

Awesome burgers. Definitely recommend the Mexican burger. Prices are really high, but about average for the stadium.

It’s in a darkened corner so I guess that’s why I never even saw a line. Despite the poor real estate within the stadium, they provide a fantastic Mex Burger. It was a bit smaller than I had hoped but was also thick and juicy. $ 17.00 including the iced tea.

The Mex Burger is a far superior burger to the standard burger, and while Shake Shack is tasty, it’s a long ass wait. The Mex is topped with bacon, guacamole, jalapenos, and both jack and cheddar cheeses(that’s 2 slices). I asked for extra bacon on mine, and the guy putting it together scooped a handful of bacon onto the burger. This did not cost extra. + Bag of chips, and a tootsie pop(«keiths favorite») $ 11 Do it.

The mission was quite simple. Enjoy a nice afternoon at the ballpark and get myself a burger. I haven’t had one all summer long(frozen patties at friends’ BBQs don’t count) so the itch needed some scratching. There was no way I was going to wait on that Shake Shack line so a quick search through the blogosphere informed me that a new stand opened up this year focusing on burgers that Keith Hernandez helped create — hence the name Keith’s Grill. Located on the field level at the corner of left field is your typical looking food stand. Only two burgers were listed, the Gold Glove Burger* and the Mex Burger**. No fries. No sides. No nothing. So be warned. Although each order comes with house-made kettle chips and a tootsie pop. As the Mex Burger looked the most interesting of the two, that’s what I opted for. Despite the assembly line set up, orders were a little disorganized and the line didn’t move as quickly as it should have. In the end, this was a case of a bland patty overstuffed and covered with toppings in hopes to inject flavor and taste. The toasted sesame roll was too much bread for the already tasteless burger and towards the end I just pushed the bread aside to eat the toppings. For $ 10 your money may be best spent elsewhere within the park but if you’re craving a burger, I don’t know what to tell you. I guess Keith’s burgers are a step up from your average stadium burger. Only because the toppings are tasty themselves but won’t do much to save that bland patty. Keith, stay in the SNY booth and out of the kitchen! — — — — — — — — — — — — *Gold Glove Burger — cheddar cheese, w. lettuce, tomato, two dill pickles, raw onions mayo, extra ketchup, and mustard ** Mex Burger — cheddar & jack cheese, bacon, guacamole, chipotle aioli, & jalapenos.
