Micro Center

This was my first time using the Microcenter located in Flushing Queens and I doubt I will ever go back. On Tuesday night, June 7^th, I was at the location to purchase a new computer and software, the experience was going smoothly until I opted to leave my computer at the Knowledge center to have the software installed for me. I was told I should come back the next day, Wednesday, June 8^th, at any time, and my computer will be ready. I returned at 4:30pm on June 8^th and the associate behind the knowledge center counter told me my computer was not in the system. He called his manager to help find my computer, it took roughly 15 minutes to find my computer for me to then be told nothing had been installed yet. I was assured everything would be installed right away and I would get a call within the hour. Needless to say I did not get a call and decided to head back to the store at about 8pm. When I asked if my computer was ready and why I didn’t get a call there was no satisfactory answer. But I was happy to have my computer and headed home to set it up, only to find that there was no power cord in the box. I called the number on their business card and was told by the representative that he was sorry for the inconvenience and that if I would come back to the store I could buy a new cord at a discounted price!!! The entire experience was the worst customer service I have ever experienced and I will not use this store again.

Came here several times. The first two times, we came here to redeem a free tablet computer. The third time, we came here to buy a Dell tablet computer.

Great store with exceptionally knowledgeable people. Marvin helped us get just the right laptop for our Grad. Really took the time and stayed with us until we found just the right item.

What a great store. Far superior to the crappy Best Buys in Flushing and Rego Park.
The store worker was very pleasant and she my shopping experience a delight.
And the prices are amazing! For example, a ps4. In Best Buy a system would run at 390+. Refurbished
Here at Micro Center I got one for 320!
Go to this store for all your computer needs!

I really can’t understand how anyone could give this store anything less than 5 stars, really. It’s a geeks paradise. Name any other big box store that comes close the the PC, electronics, or mobile inventory than Micro Center?
It has the lowest prices on CPUs even against online competitors such as Tiger Direct, Newegg, and Amazon. It’s the only brick and motor store where you can actually find water cooling components, led lighting, PC fans, heatsinks, PC cases, and a multitude of accessories: SSD, HDDs, CD/​BluRay drives, Gaming mice, keyboards, mats, memory, motherboards, GPUs, etc, etc, etc.
Don’t even mention Best Buy — Pure crap selection. And not only that the clerk’s helpfulness and knowledge blows any other big box store away. The only way you would find better is if your town happens to have a nich PC shop, but even then you wouldn’t find the inventory comparable to Micro Center.
They have DRONES for Christ’s sake, all sorts of DYI electronics: heat guns, soldering irons, shrink wrap, resistors, etc etc, and even freaking rockets.
I can’t leave this store without spending money. There is always something useful that catches your eye.
And all of this is not to mention their promotional give-​a-​ways: free Flash drives, microSD, and SD cards up to 32GB.
I love this store, and am always bummed when I don’t see a lot of people in it. Their return policy is excellent, and is the next best thing to shopping online.
If you’re a PC geek you get it because the only other way to get some of the items in this store is simply to shop online. It is what Radio Shack use to be in the 80s, and then some.

Had multiple experiences here. Took my laptop to be fixed, broken keyboard, they were pretty good with pricing and turn around time though ultimately it was under warranty so I sent it back to the company to be fixed for free as it was a known error. The knowledge bar staff were friendly and helpful though. Store is always clean and cool. Great selection of merchandise and friendly staff. Like a smaller version of BH Photo in the city just less of the cameras.

This location sent me a CONFIRMATION email for my in-​store pickup purchase. A few minutes later they sent me an email with a personal message saying they don’t have the item and asking if they can help me buy something else.
Their process seems to have a problem the concept of reservations and confirmations.
(By default they do not charge you anything until you come pick it up, so at least that’s not a problem in this case.)

I always thought Micro Center was like another Best Buy but I was wrong; Micro Center offers much more products than Best Buy does and is the perfect place for buying random electronic things (I really don’t know the correct vocab for these stuff). Prices are competitive and the store was very nicely organized, making everything very easy to find despite a huge store. Staff located around the store also took the initiative to approach customers and were happy to answer any questions. My only complaint was the employee at check out. She said all of 2 phrases to me — $ 32.98 and your email? Way to leave a lasting impression on the store.

Think of this place as the Home Depot of Computer needs and much more (printers, cameras, games, etc). Very satisfied during my first visit here. Note, they have brand new and refurbished items in stock so prices vary.

This place looks like a great place to come to shop for electronics and computer parts. The store is clean, and organized.

Back in December I received a ad in the mail from Micro Center. It featured a voucher for a free choice of 32gb SD card, USB, or a micro SD card. You get to choose 3, you can mix and match or get 3 of the same. It sounded too good to be true, there had to be some type of catch. It ad also came with two referral cards. Your referrals, they can receive 1 of the choosing. I strolled into Micro Center, checked out the store first. It’s a really nice and big store. Everything is neatly organized and there’s always a staff member around to assist you unlike Best Buy!
After browsing through the store, I didn’t find anything I really needed so I asked a sales guy where I can redeem my SD cards. You simply head over to the registers, make sure you fill out the voucher with your info, and just like that, they hand you whatever choice you want with no catch. I took 3 32gb SD cards for free and walked out of the door. I was amazed! My friend whom also came with me, picked up an SD card for himself as well. For referrals, they receive 16gb. Still not bad!
I’ve heard about some great deals from Micro Center through my friend who goes to their store in Brooklyn. Now that they’ve opened up in Queens, I’ll be sure to check back for tech stuff I would need in the near future. I took an extensive look at their camera section and was disappointed. Not much of a variety, lack of new releases and lens options. I know it’s not a pro camera store, however it would be nice to see some newer camera models.

I go to Micro Center often for electronic gadgetry.
There are just some things, like cables, that you need right away and don’t want to order.
Further, Micro center generally keeps a big inventory and their prices are competitive. They tell you on the website if the item is in stock at your local store.
I have never returned anything, so I Don’t know if that is a hassle.
I have bought a laptop, desktop and a monitor here and all of them were great.
Also, they have SD cards by the registers, at a good price.
I got good customer service when I bought the laptop, just showed them which one I wanted a d they got it for me.
Stay away from this store on weekends, it’s a mad house.

Being a computer nerd in this day and age is not as bad as it was 30 years ago. Back then, being tech savy is usually associated with wearing coke-​bottled glasses, pocket protectors and buying stuff at computer shows (remember those). Nowadays, being tech savy is still associated with glasses but with cool frames, pocket smartphones and shopping at Microcenter.
This Microcenter location may not be as big as their other superstores but it’s very convenient if you live in the area. Some of their sales staff are hip looking geeks (in a good way) and one guy looks like Shaq. They’re friendly and not pushy in trying to sell you something when you’re just asking questions.
If you want free stuff (don’t mean a five finger discount), get on their mailing list for free memory cards or sticks coupons.
I’m giving their Flushing store four Unilocal stars for their products (Winbook surveillance DVR and cameras) and service (human and online).

This is the place to be when you don’t want to wait to have real geeky computer parts shipped to your door. I do love this place, don’t get me wrong, but the way stock rotates here sometimes puts me off when I actually spend the time to get out to this location. When its listed «in stock» on the website, it should be in the store no questions asked. I came to get four components that I saw were in stock on the site, I was only able to retrieve two of them and had to buy alternate parts which changed my build considerably in price and style and not to mention functionality. I can’t complain much because the other alternative is ordering through newegg, which is so 2001.

I’ve been to this Micro Center several times. While I love the fact that I can really geek out there, I find that there are better prices on used items like cables and such at the original Westbury location. I mean… $ 12 for a used VGA cable is absurd.
This location seems to more retaily (is that even a word?) whereas the Westbury location is more of a geeks warehouse for all things computer. It’s somewhat the opposite feel of the Westbury location because where the Westbury location puts the geeky stuff on display as the main focus and puts the big box type of items like TV’s and laptops in the back, this location seems to focus more on the average consumer, making the nerd-​herd have to wander the poorly lit aisles at the back of the store.
That’s just my take on it of course. I still wander in from time to time, but I find the Westbury location is more for me.

This place is awesome! It’s like a better version of best buy or radio shack. Plus the employees are really helpful and nice! They’re always asking if you need help, normally I don’t like when employees do this, but since this store is large and they have so many products, I actually do often need help and am glad the employees are so eager and happy to do their jobs.

I’m liking Micro Center better than Best Buy and PC Richards for the reason that I feel it carries more variety and the store itself is just as large. Definitely more variety and more racks of stuff. And cheaper also. And they offer a better deal on the new Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge.
So I recently only heard of Micro Center from a friend who told me they carry great deals on electronics and computers, it holds true. Though, someone else told me they been around for a while.
First impression is I like the Knowledge Bar; is it like Apple’s Genius Bar. I don’t know, I have not had the experience with either but looks like a smaller version of it, with high standing chairs in a bar format with techs awaiting customers, two customer already sitting there.
Second impression, many bins of accessories on sale at a good price. Camera bags, computer bags, cables, memory, covers, protectors, routers, wireless items, printers, photo printers, etc…
Third, laptops and desktops ranging from low prices to the tech geek. Just great.
True to a real or DIY tech, in the back there are hard drives, computer cases, boards, fans, cooling systems and tools to build/​replace/​fix/​upgrade ones own computer. There’s a help desk in the back to customize your own CPU and board. There’s televisions also. But I didn’t notice any appliances, where PC Richards and Best Buy would have them beat in that department. But for computers and electronics Micro Center is the place to go. But then again, there was a long line of 15 people and long wait on that line. Maybe I shouldn’t have come on a weekend.

Very happy that they opened up this Micro Center that is walking distance from my job. A couple of times I did a quick run to here when I needed a computer accessory or part — they saved the day! Micro Center usually has good everyday prices and sales also (unlike Best Buy or Radio Shack, RIP)
OH! You can shop online and pick it up in the store. They promise to have it ready in 18 minutes — it was ready sooner in my experience. This is super convenient because I can find exactly what I need. zip in. pay. zip out… done!

This place is a great alternative to any electronic store, items here are cheap and they always run promotions. I was able to come here and bought a tablet for $ 19.99 and received a free USB flash drive along with a micro SD card. Great deal!
The customer service reps at this store is very nice and always willing to help.
They have many cool electronics out on display, including a 3D printer that constantly is printing something cool. Every isle is labeled and well-​organized.
They have a joint parking lot, but it allows for a lot of cars. And even if you’re not able to find a spot, you can just wait a few minutes or there is also some street parking.
If you join their mailing list, then they would mail you promotions, they don’t go crazy about it and just send it to you only once in a while. I recommend signing up for it, this way you can follow what is on sale.

Now that J&R is gone where can a geek go a waddle in technology?
Well here you go, acres of technology to run your bare feet through! I meant hand…
The staffs are all plenty and helpful with good suggestions.
Bargains at every isle and if you want they have a Knowledge Center so you can feel special.
They also have an extensive build-​your-​own section for you tech snoobs.
On my last visit I got a good price on a wifi router and several ear bubs.
I look forward to my next visit!
