Besides Kung Fu Tea, this food court is all in one restaurant. My question was, where am I going to order some noodles? The noodle/dumping restaurant located at the main floor, next door to Paris Baguette and Kung Fu Tea. I assume this is a food court for Queens Crossing Mall. When I came to this place for lunch, I wanted to try some mushroom noodle soup for $ 7.99. Then, I was looking for the register to order my food, It’s either by the dumplings or by the noodles. So, I asked one of the employees about this and she pointed to the right, so it’s by the dumplings. When I dine at this noodle/dumping restaurant(don’t remember the name), it was crowded, so I had to sit next to a Chinese mom with two rugrats. She started talking with her mouthful and one of her kids started to messed up the table. Furthermore, The place looks semi-clean and the seating area looks disorganized, I don’t know what’s the deal with the stripes hologram wall, trying to look hip?. The mushroom hot soup noodle taste agh ok, I was afraid that I’ll show up flies or roaches because their kitchen looks dirty as a regular Chinese food joint, but thank god they don’t show up. Anyway, the mushrooms and the vegetables taste fresh, and the transparent noodles taste like ramen noodles. However, the soup looks and taste too greasy. The chef put a lot of oil in this soup so that I could get high cholesterol.

There’s nothing like a good hot bowl of noodle soup on a rainy day! Then add some Chinese vinegar and hot oil now you’ve got something awesome! This place give you a huge bowl of noodle soup, the noodles are hand made, the beef has great flavor and melts in your mouth. it’s a great value too, I think only around $ 9. I like to get this with a small portion of cold dishes :-)

There are maybe only three things you should be ordering from Old Street(Lao Jie). 1) the egg and scallion bun — a flaky turnover-like pastry filled with egg and scallion. Nice and salty and perfect by itself or with soup/congee. 2) salty tofu soup(shen doufu fa) — a salty version of the typically sweet doufu fa you see during desserts, with a salty soy sauce scallion and mini shrimp sauce thing and most importantly… 3) beef hotpot(niu rou malatang) — a delicious mix of noodles, assorted veggies, and thinly sliced beef akin to the ones you get during hotpot. If you’re getting dumplings/pan fried pork buns, you’re getting ripped off(aka go over a couple streets to Yummy Dimsum to get them for 4 for $ 1.50). The highlight of this place is the beef hotpot in my opinion. They come with other meat options, but beef is the best. You can choose your spiciness level, but be warned… even the«small spicy» leaves me sweating and sniffling. It’s around $ 8 for a big portion of vermicelli noodles, seaweed, sponge tofu, cabbage, potato, lotus root, and beef all soaking inside a salty spicy soup with hint of garlic. It’s the perfect thing for a cold winter day. For what this place is, don’t expect great service. It’s meant to be for a cheap eat or quick bite, but it’s quite delicious.

Love spicy noodle soup. Poor seating arrangements. Restaurant is small but the spicy noodle soup is my fav. Other dishes are too oily.

I’ve only really gotten one thing from this place — the pan-fried dumplings. They’re simple, relatively cheap($ 5.50 for eight huge ones). Every few weeks I bring a box of these home to share with my mom and they’re devoured within minutes! Slightly greasy, perfectly seasoned, and more akin to gyoza than Chinese dumplings, they’re definitely worth a try. Come here and eat some while sipping a bubble tea from the Kung Fu Tea in the same room!

From the menu, the food sounds and also looks delicious. My friends and I decided on sharing the pork soup dumplings. It took a little while to start eating, since they are soup dumplings one poke and the soup can leak out. I’m used to eating my soup dumplings by biting it while it’s on a spoon, so it was a little different. This didn’t deter from the flavor and taste-juicy steamed pork with chives. Absolutely delicious! I’m looking forward to trying their other foods, especially their sweet tofu.

Their dumplings are good so as Beef noodles. Try pork bun and become a fan. I mistakenly found this place And happened to be regular now, I feel very homey although I am not Chinese & the good thing is they have A grade rating & Most speaks English! That’s Better right. Saying all these I need to take a star out just because they do not have enough seating arrangements & have a hassle of askin key for the bathroom always. other than that it’s a hot & spicy fast — food that simple! ;) try it.

What the focktard is this? It’s half cafeteria(quasi?) and all of 3 stands for well, food. One counter holding dumplings and food related in the dumpling family. We ordered the fried ones because Little didn’t like the look of the round ones — assuming they were the soup dumplings I noted according to the sign overhead. However, Little hit it on the nail in description, «they look squishy and not so good, Mama». The center counter was selling some type of noodle soups of various flavors. Maybe we should’ve gone with that. And the other counter being Kung Fu Tea. There you have it. A cafeteria/restaurant? Not a clue. It wasn’t inedible but it was quite greasy. It was supposed to just be a potty run for Little but I’m always willing to try anything I’ve never tried before and it seemed well, maybe I did know better but wanted to be proved wrong. Well, now I know.

I have ordered the spicy hot pot twice in my life here, and I keep forgetting that I hate it… I just really dislike glass noodles. The buns, and soy bean milk are okay though

I have been coming to this area for the bubble tea across the other side of the store. However this place holds its own, not for any tea but for the buns. They have good turnip bun and meat bun. And the seaweed is very garlicky which is good, just needs a little vinegar. Great place for a quick bite the noodles smells good. Only thing it’s a bit greasy and breading but overall it’s a yummy quick dinner and cheap!

The spicy hotpot is very delicious and cheap($ 7). I cannot handle too much spicyness so I usually pair it with a taro milk tea from Kung Fu Tea next door. Love the vermicelli and fish balls. The non-spicy noodles are thicker but still very good and feels less oily.

In what barely is a food court in Queens Crossing is «Lao Jie» Special Soup Buns. What they offer are dumplings and buns along with your spicy side dishes. What’s great about this place is no tax and tip required. Just order and wait until they yell your number in Chinese. So better know your yi, er, san’s. I had to order the xiao long baos or soup dumplings. If its in their name, then it has to be good right. I mean the fact that I can get the soup dumplings without having to dine in at a restaurant is a plus. However the soup dumplings here are lower quality in all levels compared to just about anywhere. Special Soup Buns($ 5.50/six) — 1. The dumplings were laid on top of each other resulting in the skins sticking to each other. For soup dumplings, that is a sin because that guarantees ripped dumplings and a bad time. 2. The dumplings had no soup anyways and just a moist meatball in the center. 3. Why do I feel like these are the frozen ones you get from the supermarket? The top of the dumpling is rock hard and chewy and just doesn’t seem handmade at all.(4⁄10) I heard good things about their regular dumplings and buns though so maybe ordering what they don’t specialize in is the right thing to do here. On a side note: Apparently, you order the noodles that are seen being made in the middle of the room here as well.(The ma la tangs and the beef noodle soups). If anyone knows if the noodle place has its own Unilocal page, please refer it to me. Thanks!

Note that this place is [Old Street] [Food Place] and not Old [Street Food] Place. I assure you, this is located inside the food court(next to where Paris Baguette is). The lines can be long, but that’s because they make most things to order. I didn’t try their fried or steamed dumplings, but they looked good. I did order some of their turnip related pastries to go, as well as a flakey shredded turnip bun. Both were exactly what I expected. They also have decent fresh, warm soy milk.

Wait, am I really the first one to review this place? Woohoo! Anyway — My sister and I went there early Sunday morning to give it a try. We were very happy! This store shares seating areas with two other stores, so it’s a little bit similar to the food court you’d find in the old Flushing Mall or the New World Mall(but only three stores). There is a store that specializes in spicy dishes in the middle, and a beverage store on the other side of the court. Okay now the good part. I had the sweet sesame cake and my sister had the red bean sou bing. I LOVED the sweet sesame cake! It was just what I wanted. The price isn’t bad, $ 1.50 each.(Some people might think it’s pricey since there are probably places in Flushing that sell the same things for cheaper prices, but we both thought the size and the quality justified the prices). We also had the sweet soy milk, which was $ 1.50 as well. I wish I had room to eat more because I wanted to try the other items they sell. The dumplings looked really good, so did the little buns. I can’t wait to go back and get some. This place seems pretty popular, since there are constantly people coming in and ordering. They ran out of all the bing when me and my sister returned to order some bing to go that afternoon. But of course, they were already baking more. Oh yah! One other thing I like about this place is that they just specialize in the buns and the bings, with a couple noodle dishes. So they make these items very well since this is their signature food. I don’t like places that offer so many choices and then nothing tastes good. I also like how they don’t give you a huge bowl of soy milk like some other places do. How will I ever finish a bowl of soy milk that’s as big as my face? So, yes, I will return to this place. Yum yum!
