[Update] January 2016 and they finally raised it to $ 9 for a wash and style. Still a steal! Can’t believe this place was never on Unilocal as it has been around for 20+ years. I started coming here with my mom waiting for her to get her hair done when I was a little girl. Then, when I was a teenager my mom took me here to get my hair dyed for the first time. Years later, I am in my mid-20s and this place is still around and still offers the same amazing prices as years past. $ 8 for a wash and blow /blowout style?! No extra charge for using a curling iron? Unheard of in this day and age! a woman washed my hair then Edison did my blow out/curl. I tipped $ 7 total cause it was awesome service and so cheap! $ 5 to the stylist and $ 2 to the lady that washed my hair. The hair wash is a legit wash with a full on head massage. Definitely no frills at all. Looks more like a barber shop than a salon and the décor hasn’t changed in 20 years but the stylists have skills. Many have been around since I was a kid coming with my mom including the owner herself – a petite lady with short hair to just about her shoulders as she curls the bottom half. It is difficult enough for a business to survive with all the competition here in Flushing but even more difficult for one to survive without changing owners so that must attest to something! If you’re looking for some quality service at a good price, look no further. If you want all the fluff and Foo foo stuff of a fancy salon, pay 5x to 10x the price in Manhattan. They do get busy though, especially weekends so best to call and make an appointment or stop in to make an appointment then come back after lunch cause there are so many amazing restaurants within a few minutes walk. The business’ sign is in Chinese though so check the pic I posted.
