As a fan of waffles, and because of the many positive reviews. I had to try this place. It was definitely an interesting experience. First off, it was not easy to find, since the name of the store is posted in Korean only. Upon entering the establishment, things got even more confusing. It was a bit like walking into someone’s living room/kitchen. There are no paper menus, just some stuff scribbled on the chalk board. Unless you know exactly what you want, you may feel lost. The owner of the store seemed friendly. Not extremely helpful, but friendly. I ordered a rice cake waffle. Was not asked which toppings I preferred; they were simply selected for me. The waffles came with kiwi, strawberries, pear, and ginger ice cream. all drizzled with chocolate syrup. I believe this shop is lacking in some areas, but regardless, I was satisfied with what I got. In my opinion, the rice cake waffles were good.(not to die for, but good). This place is worth stopping by if you’re already in the vicinity, but would not recommend going out of your way.

Their shaved ice desserts are seasonal(summer only) but I love their rice cake waffles! I could eat those year round! They have the same consistency as Mochi but when served warm and with ice cream and fruits, it’s a unique dessert that I haven’t seen anywhere else and wouldn’t have anywhere else!

Good place for dessert if you like rice cake. They have various selections of rice cake. I ordered a big size of rice cake with red bean for family party once. It was pretty good. Then, I often bought many different kinds of rice cake here. I like sweet rice cake stuffed with ground sweet red bean. The sweet red bean and sticky rice in combination are so good. I also like steamed seasoned rice cake called Yak Bap. The sweet rice with flavor of say sauce, sesame seed, sea same oil, pine nut and some dried fruit is another my favorite. They also have some modified items like rice waffle with some topping. The waffle was crispy and delicious. The service was pretty good.

After returning from Korea, I now understand the importance of a good waffle. In Korean neighborhoods like Hong-dae(Seoul), waffle cafes are a dime a dozen. However, back in the United States, even in Queens Murray Hill Koreatown, you will find only one place serious about these chulgit chulgit waffles, and that is Siruyeon. Siruyeon(pronounced Shi-roo-yun) is a small café that also appropriately serves house-made tteok, teas, coffees, saal juk(porridge), and crepes. Seasonally, they will serve Bing-su(shaved ice) and Ddeok-bokki(spicy rice cakes in red sauce). There are two types of waffles; what they call Leige Waffles, which are Belgian style pearl sugar waffles… and, tteok waffles. Ttoek waffle taste just like what you would expect, a waffle that is chewy inside and slightly crispy on the outside. Not very flavorful solo, but that is where the toppings come into play. Since they make their own tteok, I try to stick with the tteok waffle with fruit. Tteok, similar to Japanese mocha, can be purchased in hard brick form or you can make your own by pounding rice. I would think that Siruyeon makes their own, since they make their own tteok, but I don’t know for sure. Either way, if you have not tried this trendy style waffle yet, then I highly recommend getting yourself over to Flushing and trying it. It is a long walk from downtown Flushing. But, if you hop on any city bus in front of Queens Crossing plaza, it will take you down Northern Boulevard to this location is about five minutes.

What a serendipity eating at this restaurant mistakenly. But found it a small and nice pastry shop. «Coffee and rice cake» on the ban intrigued us to get in. We thought they sold fried kimchi with rice cake. One we entered, we saw many different Korean rice cakes(yay they are pastry! Not a dish). The colorful small rice cake balls were so yummy. Made with real juice. The boss was friendly and sweet. In Ju mi were a little bit salty while Obang chapssal Tyrol was really worth a try.

Unique spot because it serves rice cake waffles which i havent seen anywhere else yet! The waffles are crispy on the outside and chewy and soft on the inside. The two scoops of green tea ice cream on top was also delicious. A little pricey for what it is, hence one star deduction… But i definitely appreciated the fact that the owner spoke fluent english! Worth a try… And dont forget to check in for that free cup of coffee :)

Just dropped by here with curiosity. After tasting several menus, I was really surprised by several things– nice and delicious food, good service, and cheap price!!! I’ll visit this place again!

My mom and I were pretty full from a previous meal so we stopped by for a quick and small dessert. Thank God for their small option of pat bing soo! There was a lovely older lady serving us and you could tell she put all her effort into that one bing soo that we ordered. She gave us so much injulmi dduk(similar to mochi but it’s a traditional rice cake) and lots of red beans(pat), topped off with a traditional Korean cookie stick! MmMMMM! The portion size was absolutely perfect for the both of us so I can’t even imagine what the size of the medium and large is like(which is served with ice cream). Although the majority of customers that visit are the elderly, I definitely recommend this place if you’re not into the usual Paris Baguette and Tous Les Jours bingsoo.

This spot is the best for rice cake/waffle. Parking is a little difficult but not impossible. The owner is great — speaks English pretty well also. It comes with kiwi, strawberry, banana, and to top it all off, ice cream and fudge. The waffles are a chewy texture and very warm. It contrasts very well with the coldness of the ice cream, sweetness of bananas and the tartness of the strawberry/kiwi. It’s a great mélange of flavor sand textures. Pricing goes as follows: 1 piece for $ 5.00, 2 piece $ 9.00, 3 piece $ 14.00. Overall, this place is probably one of the best places for a rice waffle. Definitely worth trying out.

Rice Cake Waffle. Who knew I’d end up in a place like this because of my recent addiction to Korean dramas? We checked out the place after having lunch in the area and checking out korea village mall next door. We couldnt decide on anything so we just said, okay — let’s have that waffle.

I saw an instagram photo of the rice cake waffles that my friend had posted, and had to try them. The café is located in a nondescript location off an intersection and a strip mall. I wouldn’t have noticed it if I wasn’t looking for it– and the place had a different name– Natural Harmony Café r something. There was noone inside the café, and the woman behind the counter was so so nice! I ordered the rice waffle, and was a bit disappointed. The texture of the waffle is thick and gooey, not as crispy as I thought it would be. It needed the fruit and the ice cream to add flavor to it, and the waffles were just too much for me to finish after the first one. I probably would not have this again, because I am usually not in that area, and it doesn’t work too well as a dessert I think.

I had the rice cake waffles with ice cream and fruit(bananas, mangos, and strawberries). Get the free green tea or coffee with a Unilocal check in! The rice cake waffles were… interesting? They’re a rice cake store, so it was definitely something I wanted to try, but it’s not for me. I don’t like my waffles to be chewy. The three stars isn’t for that, but for the fruit that like they were canned. The only thing that looked and tasted fresh were the bananas. The mangos. tasted like they were pineapples? I honestly could not tell whether they were mangos or pineapples – they looked like both(another reason I could tell they were canned). The strawberries didnot have a white inside like strawberries usually do. Okay experience, would probably never go again.

Hanging out with a group of friends«foodies» and they decide to follow the only spanish guy to this asian place :) Second time at this place and it was whack. The rice cake was great as always but the bubble tea and the bubbles were awful. Lets begin. THe rice cake and ice cream with fruits its good. i mean its different good. Then the bubble tea felt gui and the bubbles you could feel the texture in them, like unboiled or too boiled. Everyone said ewwkkk. My first visit everything went well not sure what happened this time. rice cake with ice cream and fruits $ 8.99 bubble tea $ 3 – 4 bucks Not bad to take a date for some sweet things. Well i guess 3 is the charm and will update when i re-visit.

A café on Northern Boulevard that is a branch of a Korean chain specializing in desserts. It is small and quite austere, its interior mostly painted in a warm yellow, but its friendly proprietor brightens up the place easily. The ordering and preparation counter is on one side, opposite shelves of Korean sweets, snacks, and other goods for purchase. Another rack of colorful and interesting sweets sit before the counter, along with an ice cream case. They have three four-top tables for dining in. There is a large menu of desserts, but we were interested in their small menu of ssal desserts, made of rice flour, included liege or tteok waffles, as crepes, or just tteok(filled pancake). All are prepared to order at the counter section. We sampled the liege waffles, served impressively with a rainbow of fresh fruit on whipped cream, two scoops of ice cream, and drizzled with chocolate syrup. The rice flour makeup suggests mochi molded in waffle shape. So no crunch, and much chewiness. Mileage will vary here. I happen to prize waffles for a specific crustiness encasing the soft, warm interior. So these didn’t particularly work for me. Like most waffles, they lacked flavor on their own but paired enough with all the accompaniments, which were quite good. So I learned that rice cake waffles are not my thing, but I think they make a good version. Worth a try, especially if you like the texture of rice cakes.

just soso, I got the Korean rice waffle and thought they were interesting but really nothing special about it. They tasted pretty much like plain mochi in a waffle shape. They put 2 kinds of toppings on the waffles, blue berry and cinnamon apple, I prefer the blue berry one over the other. I do like the whipped cream they added which tasted light and not too sweet. I was quite disappointed that they didn’t have ice cream on the side. I think overall it’s kind of pricey for the portion. They came out to be about $ 8 for 2 small waffles like the size of your palm. I’d go somewhere else if I’m looking for desserts in the area. I would give 2.5 stars for this place.

We first heard about the Korean rice waffles from Siruyeon Rice Cake Shop on . A quick search on Unilocal convinced us that we needed to try the waffles for ourselves. The storefront is nondescript so I doubt I ever would have noticed it if I wasn’t already looking for it. The shop is small with just a few tables and chairs but is well-lit and seems to be well-maintained. Unfortunately, the menu is entirely in Korean so we couldn’t quite figure out what to order. The owner of the shop was quite friendly and when we showed her some pictures of the waffles on our phones, she was able to help us. We wanted to order the deluxe waffle platter with ice cream and fresh fruit but she told us that they only have the regular waffle platter in the fall/winter. The regular platter includes two waffles w/blueberry & apple topping and fresh cream for $ 8. We asked to add ice cream but unfortunately, they ran out. The rice waffles are made to order and should be served warm so that the outside is slightly crisp and the inside warm and gooey. Our waffles were barely warm which was a bit disappointing and the crispy exterior was barely crisp. The texture of the waffles is basically the same as Korean rice cakes or duk. I was expecting something a bit lighter I think. The waffle itself has no flavor and the fruit topping was also not what I expected. I was expecting fresh blueberries and apples but instead got a blueberry compote and apple pie filling. The fruit topping was too sweet for my taste and the waffles needed the ice cream to round out the sweetness and bring the dish together. I’m a huge fan of chewy foods, and the Korean rice waffles certainly qualify, but I’m not sure I would get it again. It just didn’t work as a dessert. Tip: Check-in for a free coffee/tea with purchase. The coffee was quite good and the owner was nice enough to let us redeem two check-in offers even though we only got one waffle platter to share!

Cute little place. Rice cake waffles=tasty! fresh fruit, ice cream, and whipped cream. I love the gooey texture in the rice waffles. So much better than regular waffles!!! The tapioca bubbles in the bubble tea were ehhh, I have had much better. My mother had the green tea flavored bubble tea. I didn’t like it. It tasted chalky to me. I wanted to try the shaved ice but it had to many black beans on it. I like black beans but not so many. I really want to give this place 3.5 stars not 4.

After a family dinner over at BCD Tofu House, we wanted something sweet to end the night. I remember reading Helena H’s review about this place and realized it was really close by. I easily convinced my family members to walk 2 blocks to come here. This is a Korean place and the menu is written all in Korean. Usually, I am screwed when this happens, but luckily, the woman behind the counter was super nice and explained everything on the menu. Very very nice of her. We decided on a shaved ice($ 7.99) platter and a rice waffle($ 4.99) platter. The shaved ice platter comes with shaved ice, red bean, ice cream, mochi pieces and fresh fruit. My family said it was very good and it was devoured in minutes. The rice waffle platter comes with ice cream, chocolate syrup, and fresh fruit. My family also really enjoyed that! My uncle and I actually shared some mochis(2 for $ 1.99). I bought one which had dates in it and it was slightly savory. Excellent excellent mochi! I will definitely come back to try all the different mochi they make here. Many of the items displayed on the counter are made in-house. I suggest you come in, take a look, and buy up the whole store!

I Love waffles I Love Mochi I love Ice cream I love Fruits But all this 4 thing can fit into one??? YES!, It’s Called Korean Rice Waffles(KRW)! Small store off Murray Hill area. Where they made to order KRW. Why made to order??? Because it needs to eat it when is fresh, warm and crispy on the outside, still soft chewy on the inside. Mixing along with Ice cream, Fresh Fruits and a hint of Chocoolate Fudge makes a BADASSS Dish! For $ 7.99 you get 26 X 6 Inches of Rice waffles, Following by 2 scoops of Ice cream, and layers of Kiwi, Strawberry, Banana and Blueberry to blend out the flavor. And I shouldn’t have shared that with my other Half but since I was already too full from the Brunch I had with friends, I wanted to try just a bit… Instead I finish the Entire Waffle. Location is off where the public transportation is. But if you’re around the area, you should stop by here for a Yummo KRW! The store also offers a variety of small sweet snacks(To eat here or to go) that are freshly made. But the sad part is that is written in Korean? make sure bring a K-Friend to translate that with you. But one of the lady who works there was pretty helpful. ***********************************CASHONLY************************************
