Because of my favorite wine bar in Flushing closing, I’ve been forced to be on the hunt of a new ‘regular spot.’ So far, I haven’t found it yet and am sad to say that my search still continues. S and I stopped by post-dinner to get some drinks and talk. The ambiance is beautiful; they’re still decorated for the holidays(Christmas trees and lights) and it’s dimly lit. We sat on one of the sofas on the side and found them to be comfortable. Perfect for a date or quiet night out with a friend or two… despite the slightly too loud music. THOUGH — it’s entirely possible the staff turned up the music to drown out the loud cackling and near shouting conversation that the drunk table next to us was having. Moving on to the wine — it is ridiculously overpriced! The mark up has got to be triple or quadruple the prices at a liquor store. Now I know that restaurants have to do that; they gotta make a profit after all. But a bottle sold at a liquor store for $ 15 – 20 selling at $ 65? That’s cray cray. Whatever. So we got a bottle and stayed and chatted. Once the loud abrasive group left, the atmosphere was quite nice. The waitress came frequently enough to make sure our water glasses were full and let us know when it was last call. The hostess came by with the check at the end of the night so they could close the register but said we could stay for a bit longer. We didn’t feel rushed to leave so that was nice. Would I go back? For the ambiance perhaps… But at these prices, probably not too often.

it’s a nice neighborhood bar since it’s near my neighborhood. It was a bit quiet when we walked in(Saturday around 6−7PM) but once it hit 10PM it got real crowded that people were waiting for a table! we had a cheese plate(HH price was $ 7.00) and it came with warm salami. It went nice with our Gnarly ’08 red. Also had the chicken wings, very similar to Zurang wings(crispy, flavorful, «sul jip» wings). hostess was nice and kept pouring our wine out for us. would go back as a quiet hang out to talk…

Not sure why they are categorized as a wine bar. Their selection of wine is so basic. Not just that, they give you these stale ass sticks of bread that doesn’t go well with the wine.

Probably the only legit wine bar in the flushing/murray hill area. Great HH7 days a week from 5−8pm with $ 4 beers $ 5 house wines. The space has a modern décor, very clean and intimate, and the service was attentive. Not sure if it was just the bartenders choosing the music but they were playing from good romantic tunes. They also provide light snacks when ordering drinks. Came here on a Sunday evening so it was pretty empty. I wonder how it is on Friday and Saturday. They do have food on the menu, but we did not order anything. I will definitely be back. Great date place in the Queens area.

This place is bewildering. A glass of not-bad house wine is $ 9… ugh, fine. But then… $ 15 for a panini? $ 13 for a waffle? Note that this is just a random café — they’re not cooking, it’s mostly an assembly job with regular supermarket ingredients. It gets worse: $ 7 for a cup of coffee. $ 11 for a hot chocolate. $ 12 for a chai latte. What??! As with the food, there’s nothing special or «artisanal» about the drinks. We got confirmation on this… plus a suggestion that prices on coffee drinks are deliberately ludicrous because they want to encourage wine drinking.(But the profit margin for coffee is so much higher!) They could maybe get away with it if the space were successfully presented as a high-end café/wine bar. But the inside looks like it’s seen better days: chipped tabletops, unfinished floors. Obviously any interior designer worth their salt could swing this(hello raw chic!). But Coffee Tree also threw in: tall-backed pleather dining chairs, 4-person tables split by tiki-bar-esque privacy screens, leather couches(reserved for groups even when the café is deserted), a random geranium, a logo on the glass windows reminiscent of WordArt… and Moet on the menu! The awkwardness(tackiness?) is palpable. I couldn’t wait to leave. The only situation in which I see people comfortable here is if they’re part of the Singaporean mafia and suddenly NEED A FREAKINGWAFFLEWITHWHIPPEDCREAMROSETTES along with that Dom Perignon.

High on looks, subpar on substance. It’s like going to a toy store where all the Legos look awesome, but when you take them out to build your masterpiece, it just falls apart, because the Legos were really made of tissue paper, not beautiful, Danish plastic. Just look at every photo on this Unilocal listing: everything is ice cream waffles with a ton of whip cream and chocolate drizzle everywhere. It kinda looks nice, but like tissue paper, it’s not substantial. Take it away and what do you get? A waffle with meager portions of fruit and a dainty scoop of cheap supermarket brand ice cream. I forget how much everything was, but it was definitely not worth what I paid for it. What I will say is that this place is consistent: their service matches their food. The waitstaff seemed more keen on paying attention to their cell phones than their customers. Poor service stems from poor management/ownership, and this place proves that point thoroughly. I guess, if there’s anything redeeming about this place is that the place is clean. The food is whatever, but the place is clean. But, honestly, I’d rather go to a place that is a little dirty, but where the food is awesome. Who doesn’t love a good, dirty, hole-in-the-wall type joint? Yeah, well, this is not that place. This is a bad, clean, Korean tissue paper Lego set. Watch your breath now. I won’t come back here again, ever. I wish I could give a negative star rating, but we can’t always get what we want in life, unless it’s subpar ice cream waffles.

i came here sunday after searching for a place that serves these korean ice cream waffles. needless to say, i was quite disappointed. first of all, there was only one girl running the whole store. and she didn’t write anything down when she was taking orders. consequently, she forgot about my and my friend’s waffles. my friend had to wait 50 minutes for her waffle — after the waitress had served the other table that came after us. i had to wait 45 minutes for my waffle that i ordered halfway through our meal. if i had known that it would take so long, i would have just left. she also never refilled our waters. i did not leave a tip. the waffle and panini were just okay. the pictures of the waffles suggest quite a bit more fruit than they actually give. in actuality, the amount of fruit provided doesn’t even cover half the waffle. the panini tasted like a lunchable. maybe they do better as a wine bar at night, but«methinks not.»

This place is very easy to overlook, especially if you’re looking for a place called«Coffee Tree». Their outside banner plainly reads«Café & Wine Bar» instead of a more appealing«Coffee Tree,» IMO. There are no pictures of their waffles or food products outside, instead the windows faintly suggest a dark interior, which looks very shady from the outside. But inside, it’s extremely nice and clean(The store has an A for sanitation). The inside space is long, the left side stretches as a counter where behind the people make the food/drinks, while the right side there are several tables and more comfortable lounging chairs in the back. We came here at around 3:00pm on a summer weekday, and it was absolutely empty except for the two college korean boys running the store. What a shame, but we weren’t complaining, we had an AC blasting, nice interiored space with music in the background all to ourselves! It was a great place to catch up and talk, as opposed to the more busier and louder korean cafes(like the nearby Paris baguette or koryodang). It was a great find. I heard about this place for their waffles, so might as well get their star product. We ordered the Ice Cream Waffle Deluxe which was a huggeee round waffle with a generous vanilla ice cream scoop in the center, drizzled with chocolate syrup, ringed with whipped cream, and topped with bananas, kiwis, pineapples, and strawberries. It was so good and we finished the whole thing, for two people. The texture of the waffle was correct and combined with the syrup and toppings was a great combination of delicious goodness. The waffle was huge, so we didn’t order anything else. But Coffee tree also has a lunch combination, which includes sandwiches. The menu also said they now serve patbingsoo. Maybe I will get it next time I come back.

I never knew this place existed. For something that boasts to be a café and wine bar, there is a very limited selection of wines. The waffle here was actually delicious although I’m not really sure how good the waffle was because it was just smothered in whipped cream, ice cream and fruits. Not the healthiest of desserts but what the eff, it was Saturday night. The wine is relatively cheap here and not too shabby. Because I’m not an avid wine drinker, I do not know the difference between a 100 dollar bottle and a 40 dollar bottle. The only thing I know is that wine that are less than 20 dollars a bottle usually tastes like crap.

I have mixed feelings about this place. It’s a really date-y place for a pre-game dinner or, what seems more appropriate, wine after dinner. It’s classy. Dim, spotted lighting, partitioned booths/tables for privacy and intimacy. So for its ambience, it’s a really nice café. What kind of bothered me was that the Korean servers were super Korean. Korean egoism is the worst at restaurants/cafes. Sure, we were a couple of Korean kids, but come on, this ain’t Korea either. They did a good job of not bothering us while talking, but maybe TOO good. It’s always about timing when it comes to getting your check. You don’t want to wait too long to give your table the check so that they have to ask for it, and you don’t want to rush them by giving it to them right away either. We had to ask for ours. I won’t blame them for that. But I will definitely note that they didn’t even ask what we wanted to drink, nor give us a glass of water. The food is pretty random. They had legit Korean specialty food, but also café-appropriate items. We shared a waffle that was pretty good(I guess every waffle after a bite of Wafles and Dinges will always just be «pretty good»), and it was, I think $ 13? Talk about heavy prices! Drinks and all. I know the mood of the place calls for wealthy, casual daters, but let’s keep in mind that Flushing isn’t the Yuppie-type of town.(Okay, I totally made that last part up because I’m not from Queens, let alone New York, but I think I’m right.)

Loved this place! The atmosphere was amazing the waffles were great. The coffee was pretty good. I had an Americano, which I asked for strong but didn’t come out that way, but maybe I just like my java extremely dark… I would definitely recommend this place. It was a little pricey, but definitely worth it as I went with my love. =]

Nice décor and great wine bar but I wish they were more friendly non Korean speaking patrons. When I come in with my Korean girlfriends, they just ignore the rest of us and only focus on her. A bit rude but still a nice place to get coffee and waffles. Tip: Skip the paninis.

One of the best hidden wine bars with live piano music every Friday and Saturday night! For the selection, convenience, and service you can’t find better. Ask for Lillie, Gina, Hyung, or Eun :)
