Grill Baby Grill — Get me Some Abomasum Their Mak Chang(abomasum) is scrumdiddly-umptious. Never knew what ‘Mak Chang’ exactly was, but I found out is the part right below the small intestine of a cow. Eww, some may say. But let me assure you, it defies any preconceived notion of having a barnyard gamey-ness expectant of animal innards. They are sliced thin enough that the fattiness crisps up almost like a golden chicharrone. It is delicious when washed down with some cold Korean lager or Soju. This is Korean comfort which hearkens back to a pre-industrial time when our people grilled up whatever source of calories they could get their soot-covered hands on. We went with a party of fourteen and even the children loved the makchang. It comes with an aluminum foil cup of cheesy mayo-ey corn and foil wrapped garlic. There aren’t many accompaniments or banchan aside from palate cleansing pickled onions and peppers, and pickled daikon wraps. This joint is more of a Korean gastro-pub than a sit down restaurant. The kids were going nuts on the chalkboard which may give it a family-friendly character. However, this place is for a small group of friends to grill up an assortment of meat and wash it down with some libations to absolve the stress of a rough work week. All the grisly grilled mystery meat tells the story of how hardworking Korean people adapted and overcame third-worldly troubles.

A great new addition. Previously Bulpan at this address. So far, so good. Not a full-on koream restaurant. More of an izakaya spot where drinks are equally the main attraction. Grilled a delicious selection of meats at the table, accompanied by our usual favorites — soju, baekseju, beer and makguli. Atmosphere — unassuming, clean and just dim enough. not a huge space but well ventilated and very comfortable. Crowd — little bit older, which I appreciated. Service — top notch. very knowledgable and friendly. staff. owner sandy, seems like a really solid guy. knows how to treat customers right — thus earning this sort of review from me. Menu — currently only in english. hopefully they’ll add english soon because the many different cuts of meat and intestines, need some translation. graphics would be fun. Price — combos are a good deal. all pretty average pricing for these korean bar/restaurant spots. portions are a bit small but cuts of meat are good. We enjoyed ourselves; and it’s nice to have a new option other than Gugong or Shikgaek etc. And because this does feel more like a restaurant in some ways(there are actual seats and tables, and female servers) — one could easily take their parents(which I plan to do) without them feeling as though they’re mingling at a young-people’s bar. Overall, great. Will definitely revisit.
