24 hours Korean food. Very authentic kimchi and huge kimchi serving sizes. Went as a large party(without prior reservations) and they served up our order almost immediately. Food — Good, generously portioned, authentic Recommend — Tofu soup, sausage soup, Bulgogi soup Service — Friendly and super fast!

Would have given 4 stars but the smell of chung gook jang is just too terrible. The overwhelming smell of that soup is way too intense. I love the food here but every time someone orders the«chung gook jang» the smell makes me want to leave this restaurant. Imagine having dinner and then all of a sudden having to deal with intense smell of fermented beans. definitely not the way to go…

For a guy serving the tables alone he did a pretty good job and was always attentive. Though I was bothered by how many uncleared tables there were… I come back repeatedly for the gamjatang. Spicy kimchi, pork bones, and potato soup. For $ 11.99 there’s a lot of meat and deliciousness in a bowl. Once seated and ordered he comes out with a big plate of radish and kimchi. And at the end of the bill he gives the little plastic bottle of yogurt. Great way to end a tasty meal.

Went on a craving for blood sausage. Weird I know. The center wasn’t hot. We both felt like it came from freezer to pot of soup to table but not fresh. Still looking for the soon dae quality I found in LA’s ktown!!! Maybe I wasn’t Korean but service was blah. No one came to check on us or ask how it was. It wasn’t busy and they ere staring at the tv so it was even hard to get their attn for the check. Definitely need a recommendation from a Soondae expert on where to go in this city.

Came here last night with boyfriend and ordered soon dae bok eum. First off, we usually get their soups but this time we weren’t really hungry so we ordered the above mentioned dish. Ummm… It was okay on the beginning but honestly, the soon dae inside the dish was hard and tasted like it came out of the freezer but not fully thawed/cooked. Their other dishes are usually okay in my opinion… But will not order soon dae bok eum again

I fail to understand some of the bad reviews here. This is a restaurant specializing in pork. So, we’re talking about pork based soups and dishes for the most part. This is not intended to be a full-menu korean restaurant and they make this kinda, pretty much, very clear. You may have a hard time finding something for everyone in your party. Young kids may not find much suitable for their palettes. You will not get a big spread of korean side dishes(banchan) here. There’s no korean bbq here. And, are you ready for this? There is no bibimbab here folks.(Gasp!) But here’s what you will find here. The best soondae gook in the area. Piping hot, fresh, clean broth of sliced pork, soondae, and all the customary pig parts — it is excellent. Served with all the necessary fixings such as hot pepper paste, fresh chives, salted baby shrimp paste and their superb green pepper relish and great radish-kimchee, also customarily paired with this soup. Their soondae gook is consistent time and time again. We’ve been here many times. At first when they opened, business was slower and things were quiet. But now they have a steady stream of diners whenever we go and it is so good to see people recognizing their good food. It is the kind of food that people want to eat any old day, alone or just with one or two friends. It’s not your birthday dinner feast food. It’s the kind of food you’d think of often because it’s simple and good. The atmosphere and service, likewise — not a fancy restaurant — just simple, good and familiar. And while perhaps it all starts with the pork and the soondae gook — it doesn’t end there. We’ve found other favorites here. Bajirak Kalgooksoo: a surprising no-pork find. refreshing clean broth, a generous portion of korean bajirak clams and just-done, al-dente, knife-cut noodles. SooYuk Jjim: wow. lots of tender juicy sliced pork, steamed with glass noodles, sautéed veggies, rice cake and semi-spicy sauce; a perfect soju pairing. GamJaTang: spicy stewed chunks of pork ribs and potatoes; not a brothy soup but a stew, perfect with a bowl of hot steamy white rice. They do offer a handful of non-pork options of course. Such as pancake, beef bulgogi soup, chicken noodles, and even naengmyun. But I think you get my drift. Here, it’s kinda all about the other white meat. Sssss ~.This review is making me hungry.

Came with a party of 8 on a Sunday night and had no problem getting seated. I did call ahead around 30 min before to see if they could accommodate a larger party size. They stuck us in a corner room which I had no problem with but the waitress NEVER came to check on us. We had a 2 hour dinner mainly waiting and trying to get the attention of the waitress to take our order and get the check. They sure came quick when it came to collecting the credit card though… For a group of 8– we got the seafood pancake(not the best place to order this), bulgogi something(my friend got this… it was ok), soon dae bokkeum and pigs feet. Nothing was really outstanding but tasted ok. I would give it another try– this time to try the soon dae gook and maybe some of the other dishes the Unilocal-ers raved about for this place. I did enjoy the soondae better than I thought I would. So I’ll definitely be back but maybe with a smaller group…

I had the soondaegook which is my absolute favorite dish to eat! Unfortunately this place did not have the usual accompaniments required for a successful SDG! There was no crushed sesame, spicy paste, and extra chives to flavor up the bland soup base. It was clear that the broth was not cooked over a long enough period since it was very watery. The sausages themselves are the standard packaged glass noodle instead of traditional pork filling. To make things worse, the organ parts did not have the right texture.

I am and avid soupist and this place constantly called my attention. I’m so glad I entered and tried their delicious soups! They have sooo much flavor, it was just delicious. Of course like most Korean places you get free refills of rice. The service is pretty good and I love that they have k dramas playing on the TV. Be careful of the spicy soups though, they’re extremely spicy but still delicious. Definitely a must try. Their interior is nice I really like it. The bathrooms are actually gorgeous lol what I also love is the price of soju! They have a promo of it for only 5.99, in most restaurants they’re anywhere between 10 – 14 $. My friend and I each got a soup, 3 bottles of soju and a beer. The bill came out to 50 $, which we split half and half so 25 $ each. That’s amazing for dining and drinks I mean we each got a buzz lol definitely going to keep returning to this place. I absolutely love it!

This is not the place to be if spicy doesn’t work for you. For myself, it so absolutely does. We ordered their«dak dori tang» and«so muh ri gook bap»(I’m not explaining this. Please google for specifics) and of course, bulgogi for the Littles. The heat in these dishes minus Littles’ foods, can be pretty intense so be forewarned. The latter of the two can be measured yourself but watch out for anything on the menu that says it’s spicy. They’re not friggin’ kidding but oh so so good.

To Soc Chon is not for everyone, and certainly not those who wince at the prospect of traveling(just) to sate their appetites. It’s farther removed from the epicenter of Flushing in Bayside, so arriving at the restaurant requires some form of transportation beyond public transit. It’s a restaurant that caters more towards the locals, and one of the few that stays open almost unreasonably late on a daily basis. The restaurant is best known for their Soondaegook, or Blood Sausage Stew. While it wasn’t what I ordered here, I can say from the few spoonfuls I had that it’s not a dish for the weak at heart. It’s served in several components — the stew, slices of blood sausage and steamed pork, and a variety of condiments. They can be eaten separately, or they can be piled into the stew and eaten together. The blood sausage is pretty mild, and surprisingly chock full of japchae noodles. The sides of a red pepper paste, green chilies, and chives are much needed additions to an otherwise bland soup, which is full of various cuts of pork that might be appropriately be categorized as offal. It’s a hearty, savory soup, best enjoyed during colder weather. I was more than happy with my Maeun Deungalbi Jjim, a spicy steamed pork rib stew. It’s still bubbling when served, and the bright red tint of the stew is a promising first impression. There’s a plethora of toppings and fillings, including cabbage, bean sprouts, green chilies, and jalapeño peppers… served whole. The stew packs plenty of spice and heat, and there’s a good punch of acidity from the kimchi and red pepper paste that serves as a stew base. There’s a fair number of pork ribs strewn throughout as well, and the meat is both tender and packed with flavor. Of course, a side of white rice is a necessary complement, and gives the illusion of ameliorating some of the spice. I’m envious at times of those who live in Queens and in such close vicinity to a range of delicious eateries. Certainly, if I lived within the area, you’d find me here more than just a few instances; after all, it’s a value proposition you can’t beat.

This place is overpriced for the quality or lack thereof for the food. I’m used to spicy but everything is way too spicy even for a dish I ordered that is specifically non spicy and they made it spicy. If you’re going to put non spicy dishes on the menu why make them spicy. Never going back here again. Waste of money.

I love gamja tang! It’s something about that delicious tender meat around the bones. I’m a white with an international palate. I try food from around the world I know what’s good and I know what’s not. The good: The gamja tang was a very good portion. It was an msg overload but I was used to that. The bones were meaty and the flavor was great. The bad: The service was weird. I sat down, I knew what I wanted and ordered as I sat down. A man brought me some tea. The waitress brought some bon chon(iceburg with some russian or thousand island dressing and kimchi) and then my meal. Shortly after, she just disappeared. I did not see her for the rest of the night. Having come from the service industry, if you leave your shift, let your tables know!!! Also, drop your food, wait a minute and then check on your guests. I needed some water. I made eye contact with a gentleman, he looked away, we made eye contact again, I gave him a gesture, he saw me and scurried into the kitchen. Admittedly, I had just tried the soup and the pepper hit me hard and so I really needed the water. I practically had to wave two hands for him to come over.

Came for a quick lunch with my parents and left thoroughly unimpressed with the overpriced mediocre food. The restaurant was essentially empty when we got there during peak wknd lunch hours(clue #1), saw a party of 2 come in, sit down and leave without ordering(clue #2) and by the time we left, we were the only table left — and yet, it somehow took forever to flag down one of 3 waiters for refill on water, our check, etc. They didn’t check on us once after taking our order and dropping off our food(with 2 measly banchans, one of which was lettuce and thousand island dressing… really?!). Will stick to our neighborhood Korean favorites across the street from now on.

I am always satisfied whenever I decide to come here. Their gamja tang, dak boggeum tang, and soondae gook is authentic and delicious. My favorite thing to get here is the succulent meat that comes when you order soondae jungsik(soondae gook+ few pieces of soondae and juicy meat) Their kimchi is amazing and the people who work here are super attentive and nice. I don’t recommend modem soondae though it tasted too dry. And they give you yokult as dessert too :)

This place never seems to disappoint me. I always get the dweji gookbap with their special red sauce and wow its amazing! I eat here often because my wife loves their soondae jungshik. Every single time we eat here, we both go home happy. Must try!

OK, so I have been here a few times and I really haven’t explored the menu, but I am a big fan of their Soondae Guk, which is a Korean blood sausage stew. I’ll be the first to tell people that it’s not for everyone. This dish is a super Winter dish and it’s actually a lot more filling than it seems. The meal starts with the typical Banchan of kimchi and they also give bean sprouts. The food: Soondae Junsik– Korean blood sausage in soup with a side of steamed pork and a side of blood sausage. I really like this dish a lot, it’s really hearty and great especially in the Winter time. They give you different things to adjust the taste of the soup from green chilies, to Chives to a red chili paste. The stew consists of different pork pieces, innards and their blood sausage. The blood sausage is made with cellophane noodles as opposed to rice. Soondae Guk– is the same exact dish as Soondae Junsik without the side of steamed pork and the side of blood sausage. The side order is easily sharable with one other person. Dak Bbokum-Tang– Pan fried chicken with vegetables in spicy sauce. I thought this dish was great, it has some heat and the flavor of the dish were very nice. I thought the chicken was juicier and more tender than I expected it to be and they gave a ton of chicken, I counter two legs and I think two thighs. This is a fantastic Winter dish. Gamja Tang– it’s a spicy Korean soup that has potato and pork hock. This dish is very warming and the pork is so tender but you kinda have to work at it. I liked this dish. Modum Soondae– it’s kinda a Korean pork mixed grill, it’s served on a table side heated platter. It has the Korean blood sausage, tongue, liver, intestines and slices of pork. I have never liked liver and this place is no exception. This is a hearty dish enough for three people. Maeun deungalbi Jjim– spicy steamed pork ribs. HOLYSHITISTHISDISHSPICY! OK, so I think I am pretty decent with spicy food, but this dish was spicy as hell. The flavors were really good, but tad sweet. The pork ribs were super tended and the dukbokki in the dish were nice, but that damn spice!

Week by week this place seems to get busier and busier, i would know because i came here 3 weeks in a row and ordered exactly the same dish all 3 times. Blood sausage stew, chock full of assorted cuts of beef and pork it is both plentiful and flavorful. I should warn you, not everyone likes this sort of thing so if you think cow tongue and pig ears are gross, this is not the dish for you. But if you can handle it their Soondae Jigae is authentic and really rich in flavor. You don’t have to take my word for it, i was there with 9 much older Korean women and they were all ranting and raving about how much they liked the food here. one woman proceeded to tell us that she had just come to this restaurant 3 of the last 4 days and ate the same meal each time now that is a glowing endorsement.
