Recently visited Folly Beach from Minnesota on vacation. My sister and law, niece, step sister, 2 children, and I boarded the boat with Gresh. It was the highlight of our entire vacation. Gresh took us out on the boat showing us oyster beds, dolphins, and other local marine life while explaining the history of the area. We docked the boat and explored the beach full of shells with the historic light house in the backdrop. He walked along with us for a bit helping us scour the beach for different shells we wanted. Bring your swimsuit with to take a dip when you are done exploring, All ages ranging from 3 – 33 really enjoyed the trip. If I visit Folly again, I will definitely be back for another tour.

Best part of our Charleston trip. Captain Gresh was the perfect guide and even helped us find some great shells on the island. Saw dolphins, loggerhead turtles and all kinds of other wildlife. This is a trip you have to experience yourself to understand just how truly awesome it is!

What a great way to end our trip in Charleston. My wife and I were celebrating our honeymoon and thought Captain Gresh offered the perfect chance to spend some time on the water with our private charter to Morris Island. He was extremely professional, timely, and went out of his way to ensure we had a good time. He provided blankets because it was chilly, stopped to give us interesting facts about the local wildlife, and even shucked a few raw oysters for us to enjoy straight from the water. Awesome! As it was off season, we had the entire island to ourselves to explore, look for sea shells, and take pictures. Fantastic way to spend a romantic afternoon with the wifey. The price is reasonable as well, and costs just a few dollars more than those other companies taking you to Morris Island. But they squeeze you into a boat with a bunch of other strangers. For an extra $ 20, we were happy to set sail with Captain Gresh and have a nice, private trip out to the island to explore at our own pace. Highly recommended!

Our concierge at the Courtyard by Marriott Historic District recommended a private tour that would knock our socks off to a beach that is only accessible at low tide and gets us as close was one can get on land to the historic Morris Island lighthouse. We met Gresh, the operator, at a dock outside of Charleston and he took us by motorboat through estuaries that were lined with live oyster beds and teeming with wildlife like brown pelicans and other birds. We actually saw a pod of bottle nosed dolphins playing near the boat! Spectacular. Gresh anchored off of the beach, which was prominently featured in the movie«Glory» as the battle site at which over 1000 black Union troops perished(and are buried there!). My kids and I walked the entire beach without encountering another soul on a brilliantly sunny and beautiful afternoon. We found lots of pretty shells and sand dollars to take home. Gresh was great — his family has been there for generations, he clearly loves the area and cares deeply for its environmental integrity and is a terrific tour guide. Do not miss this experience — we will remember it for the rest of our lives. It went all too quickly!

We took a 2 hr tour with this Charter back in May(2011), Hands down finest boat tour we’ve been on. I’d echo everything Nikki K said in her review. Gresh(6th or 7th generation local?) made the tour — he and his son were fantastic guides, and my family(and my folks — 6 total) had a memorable evening tour. Trust me — If you want to really experience the intercoastal waterway, the ecosystems, the dolphins, the secluded beaches, Do not do a large tour on some big boat. do a small intimate one like Gresh’s. yeah, you’ll pay a little more, but it’s well worth it. We stay on Kiawah when we visit, and this is exactly what we’ve been looking for for a number of years. we kind of got lucky and stumbled upon it. We’ll likely do same tour when we return next yr.
