Ok… tried again. This time knowing we could seat ourselves helped a lot. Much better service. My daughter and I had the same thing. She wanted whipped cream on her pancacke and I almost died laughing when they entrusted me with the entire can of it. It took all I had not to go postal with it… lol. Our friend had the chipped beef. To be fair he is a chef and he gave it an 8. Again food was excellent. I think I got the same broken plate… time to invest in new ones. Waitress was attentive and prompt. If my plate wasn’t cracked again probably would be 5 stars.

I should have written this review 2 weeks ago when I went but unfortunately I didn’t get a chance. I really used to enjoy this spot when I lived closer and my dad and I thought it would be great to meet up and have Sunday breakfast. I dropped my dad off to get a table while I went to park the car. Anyone who’s been here knows that the private lot off the street is very small and so I went to park on the street perpendicular to the restaurant. I maybe took 7 minutes to park and walk to find my dad already seated with a cup of coffee. I though«all right! This is awesome!» So I sat down and then a good 10 minutes + went by before anyone even stopped at our table. My dad pointed out our server but she went and stopped and took orders for other tables, never even looking in our direction. We finally waved her down and I got to place my coffee order and as she started walking away immediately we let her know we would also like to order while we had her. I order the bananas foster french toast. «Oh we don’t have that. We never got our bananas fosters sauce this week.» Crap! That was the one thing I really saw on the menu that I was all about. So I order the pumpkin pancakes and my dad orders a french toast and eggs meal and a glass of water. The server goes and time goes by. Meanwhile their tables have signs that they offer free wifi. But no where in clear view does it say what their password is. I actually guessed it after a bit, its java(whatever the owner’s name is). Maybe Tony? Can’t remember now. Time keeps going by, our food isn’t coming and my dad’s coffee cup is empty and no one has ever come by to see if we needed refills. Finally my dad waves a busboy over to ask if he can get a refill. Our food finally gets delivered. By someone who isn’t our server. My dad does not get any syrup with his french toast which is crazy! He also does not get his glass of water. So my dad had to go up to the counter and ask someone there if he can get it. This gets delivered by a third person, still not our server. Our food is so/so. We finally are ready to leave and no one comes to ask us how are things, no one comes to pick up any plates/cups and no one offers us our check. People who were seated much later than us have already finished their meals and have gone. So I go up to the counter where our server is, tell her I would like to pay and that she never gave us our check. She looks at our table as if she’s surprised and then gets her checkbook out, writes something down and tells me the amount. Now based on the prices of the items we got on the menu, I say our server either miscounted or forgot something because it was definitely a few dollars less than what the menu price totals up to. But I pay and my father only leaves a $ 1.00 tip for the busboy, when verbally says out loud that he shouldn’t leave anything because our server didn’t give us any actual service. I was embarrassed at that but its true. I will not be going back ever.

The owner emailed me and said they made changes and asked for me to give them another chance. I did. New waitress. Fair at best(had to ask twice for hot sauce and the place was dead). They should realize the customers can hear their conversations in the back. Eggs were good. Bacon quality was sub-par AGAIN! I can go to Nifties or Springfield and get quality bacon. Fresh squeezed OJ was good but in a tiny glass compared to the bigger size you get from Nifties for about the same price. Weirdest thing I was asked if I wanted onions in my home fries and I replied yes but when I got them there were no onions. Coffee refills are automatic in other spots. I did increase to 2 stars as it was slightly better but not by much.

Have to give it a zero today. Came in with my wife and college-age daughter. It was after 11 a.m. on Saturday, the place was less than half full. Waitress came over pretty fast, took coffee order and brought coffee order quickly(though no napkins or silver)…and promptly forgot about us. Hard to do as we were in booth closest to kitchen. Odd to watch them ignoring us while setting up empty tables with silver(we still did not have ours). All this time, not a glance over to take our food order(yes, we had menus closed and on the table), not a «be right over», just like we were not there. As I said, the place was not busy, 7 occupied tables and three waitresses. Finally, after 15 – 20 minutes, my wife and daughter got up to leave, I went to cashier to pay for our coffee, girl behind the counter asked where we were, I showed her and explained no one ever even came to take order and she just said, «you don’t have to pay then»(apparently no check had been drawn up for us), and I left. Food here has been good in past, never got a chance to find out today.

I’ve been to Java Joe’s twice now for breakfast and left satisfied both times. For those who haven’t been there, it’s a quirky, little diner-type restaurant in a small strip shopping center. When you walk in, you’re greeted by Spiderman holding up the specials. Can’t say that about many places, am I right? So you walk in, say hi to Spiderman, and usually wait for a waitress to pass by to tell you that you can sit anywhere. The menu is pretty typical — breakfast and lunch items(lunch items available after 11 am, I believe). Both times I’ve gotten the build your own omelette(with American cheese, spinach, tomato, and bacon) and it’s come out big and hot. The home fries always need a touch of salt, but are usually cooked pretty well. They have specials like the slammer(or maybe it’s the whammer) that give you a little bit of everything — eggs, pancakes, choice of meat, and homefries… too much food for me! Java Joe’s is a cool little spot if you’re looking for a quick, cheap meal. The service was hit or miss for us, but it really didn’t deter us from coming back. I’m sure I’ll be back in the future!

Although the food is good, the service is inconsistent and, as my 16 y.o. daughter stated, careless.

Allow me to add my two cents to the inconsistency of reviews here. this place had been recommended to me for years. They seem to have a loyal following. But, the hate on here is strong for the haters of this place. I decided to judge for myself. Truth is, I tried it for the first time last weekend and liked the food a lot. The omelet was excellent. The home fries were sliced just right and flavorful the way I like them. I even enjoyed the oatmeal, and the bagel. I don’t remember the coffee being too great, which is odd for a place that stresses coffee in their name. I had no problem with the service. I had a bigger problem with the couple at the table two feet away from us discussing their life stories. Just don’t sit in the corner next to the door with the tables right next to each other to avoid this problem. Now, places like this can suffer from inconsistency, and I make it a habit to rarely go to places for lunch or dinner that are more famous for breakfast. It never seems to end well(see Coffee Station). But I will be back for a good Sunday omelet again.

Do not go here! I used to get take out and order here very frequently because it was convenient. The food was not great, but at least it was cheap. Then on my last visit, I ordered my meal from the menu. The food was salty and not flavorful. Once I had finished eaten and gotten my bill, I was more than surprised to see how much I was being charged. The waitress saw me order a special from the menu she handed me, but neglected to tell me that the menu prices had changed. I even pointed to the menu as I was ordering and she did not mention any of the price change while I was ordering from the wrong menu. When I addressed the fact that the price on the bill should be different since the menu said otherwise she pointed out that there was a separate green menu with different prices. What the hell? Why pass an outdated menu unless you are trying to trick customers. Do not go here. This establishment is extremely unprofessional and will likely be a complete waste of your time and money.

So, reviewing this place will have me looking over my shoulder for some time to come. God forbid you don’t love it here! Well, guess what? I don’t. In fact I think it’s WAY overrated, poorly run and really doesn’t have any food that should be attracting any crowds. Now, the menu is quite ambitious and looks like it should have some bright spots. Ummm, not so much. I will look for one positive point for this review and that will be the portion size. The pancakes are dinner-plate big. Other than that, everything is grease laden, cooked inappropriately and honestly just not that appetizing. I have had lunch as well as breakfast dishes and have not been impressed with either. Service is right on the same level as the food. A couple of the servers are genuinely friendly, but not very efficient. I’ve been told to sit wherever there was space and then ignored for at least 5 – 10 minutes. I’ve asked for sides that never come, to-go items on top of my eat-in meal that never get passed on to the kitchen, refills on drinks that go unrefilled, etc. All in all, it is a shame that there is not anywhere really close by to give this place some actual competition. Following some basic food service guidelines would go a long way for any place wishing to run a successful breakfast/lunch outpost. (On a semi-unrelated point, but one I will address anyway… This guy who runs the place is apparently obsessed with the WaWa next door. Droning on and on about people going in for coffee and demeaning those who patronize the convenience store and their parking habits, and the delivery trucks and this, that and the other. It’s a little embarrassing. I don’t LOVE Wawa coffee but if I did, I’d go there. Every day. And some guy moaning about wouldn’t stop me. Yeah, parking sucks there, but it has to just be endured. Now there’s a classy chain link fence put up between the 2 properties. Nice. Looks fabulous. I can’t pull through from one lot into the next anymore. But it really enhances the curb appeal.) Oh well, if you like it here, don’t let me stop you from going. Just don’t stop by Wawa after your meal!

After reading a few reviews here, I decided to go for brunch this weekend. First let me say the reviews were pretty spot on regarding service. In general the servers seemed disorganized and inattentive to their customers. We had at times 2 waitresses in rapid succession(while we were deciding) then no waitresses(when we needed napkins). After our initial«please give us a minute» we waited 10 minutes to order. I ordered breakfast and my girlfriend ordered a chicken salad sandwich. A half hour later a waitress appeared to inform us there was no Chicken salad left. About 20 minutes later we received our meal which mean we began eating an hour after we sat down. In fairness my breakfast was phenomenal. I had Bacon eggs and an apple covered hotcake. The Bacon was super thick butcher shop style and generously covered my plate. The eggs were cooked as requested and the Hotcakes were large and covered with a delicious baked spiced apple concoction. The home fries were big and thick and greasy(that’s a good thing). I was surprised that with a name like Java Joes, they had no specialty coffee or cappuccino(etc.) My mistake I guess. Even the plain Coffee was barely warm enough. Cliff notes: Parking is a bit of a problem, service is terrible, coffe is lukewarm, food is awesome. The food single-handedly brought a one star review to a 3.

These delco mom and pop joints are really hit or miss. Java joes is the real deal though. Everything is always fresh and consistent. I recommend the breakfast burrito. Honestly its not something you couldn’t make at home(as is most of the food) but its still great regardless. Homefries have onions in them :). This is the place where you can just sit back, eat a great breakfast and pound coffee for an hour. Don’t even start on the parking!!! Sometimes the service sucks, but its kind of funny. They’re just good old delco girls, its forgivable. Check out that spiderman!

I really enjoyed Java Joe’s. My husband and I were told about the Bananas fosters french toast and we just had to give them a try. We were not disappointed. They were great! We get the same thing every time we go and everyone that we introduce to Java Joe’s and the french toast fall instantly in love just like we did! Keep up the good work. YUM!

Food pretty good food and reasonably priced. The menu is a touch on the huge side — they have 2 sets of specials. The one big downer was the hairs in the food.

I love my savory brunch and i can’t think of many combinations better than the egg + cheese + stuff. So I went to Java Joe’s last week and got an omelet that was just a little greasy, thin, and uninspiring. If I recall correctly, it had goat cheese, spinach, and something else. The goat cheese was all smushed to one side so surgery was required to get the proper distribution across the whole thing. The homefries were only so so as well. The guy ordered creamed chipped beef which he said was rather on the sweet side. He got a meat lovers omelet that was predominantly pepperoni. I’m glad I tried a new place for brunch, but I can’t see myself going back any time soon. p. s. parking is a drag. java joe’s is in a strip mall and has about 3 dedicated parking spaces. we got lucky since it was a weekday.

man, I hate these reviews. I hate taking a steaming dump on a local, non-chain establishments. But, we had a pretty terrible experience. The menu was pretty extensive. It’s a little disarming how excited they get at the prospect at serving you bacon, ham & sausage — WOWEE! Their emphasis not mine. Wife had the waffle & thankfully that was okay. Pour batter into maker, slather on whipped cream & blueberries, done. I wasn’t feeling anything, so I went with an old standby — the grilled cheese. Somehow, they managed to soak the bread in butter, get it crispy, but still keep the cheese cold & unmelted. How is that possible? I was going to send it back, but I realized that I’d be waiting till Thanksgiving until I saw another waitress The consensus is correct — service was worse than horrible. We got seated quickly & friendly enough. But the staff apparently gets paid to walk the floor and not actually bring anything to the tables. It took talking to three different servers before we could get the check. And the parking. WTF is up with this lot? Between the laundry & the dry cleaner, you’ve got three or four spots for the other two stores. The laundromat has signs in their window that says NORESTAURANTPARKING. EAT A DICK. Normally, I’d just not leave a review, but this place really pissed me off.

Living in the Delco suburbs, there are not many places to get good food. Let alone good breakfast. Even rarer, good breakfast served after 12. Never fear, as there is Java Joe’s! Probably the breakfast place in the area, Java Joe’s is happy to serve up fresh squeezed OJ, huge flavorful pancakes, and omelets packed full with veggies and meats. I almost always go for a large orange juice and one of their many omelet specials. Sometimes I’ll get a breakfast sandwich if I’m running low on time and while they’re definitely tasty, they don’t match the intense flavors of those omelets. The restaurant itself can be crowded at times but they wait usually isn’t long. They also have chipotle hot sauce which makes this spice-fiend happy.

It’s a good thing the food is so delicious because it’s all downhill from there. I’ll do this one good, bad, and ugly style. The good: the food here is really good and the menu is big. A big plus for the fact that they ask you if you want onions in your home fries or not. Usually I get the 3-egg omelet with american and hot sausage but the banana’s foster french toast(topped with bananas, fosters sauce and whipped cream) is always there to try and tempt me. The bad: this place has something like 4 or 5 parking spots, you can take your chances parking next door at the Wawa, an unusually kind waitress told me that someone from Wawa will come over and say something if it’s getting out of hand, otherwise find street parking somewhere around the corner. The ugly: service, pretty much every time I’ve been there. Expect it to be civil at best, don’t be surprised if it seems like you’re inconveniencing them by placing your order. Also for a breakfast place you shouldn’t have to make any noise to have your coffee refreshed.
