Had dinner here last night. Service was fast. The food was really good. Would come back when I am in the area again.

I don’t really like orange chicken at a chinese restaurant, but this orange chicken is nothing like others. It’s very LEGIT! Highly recommended.

There are very few good Chinese restaurants in Sacramento… but I’m glad I stopped by to try this place. Very nice ambience… relaxing and clean. The Japanese Tofu with mushroom was rated WOWZA! I will have to come back with the rest of the family so we can try their many other dishes!

We were a little nervous walking into Lotus 8 last night when the restaurant was empty. OK, it was only 5PM and we got to be the first ones there. The fantastic aroma coming from the kitchen washed away any concerns we might have had. Without a doubt this is one of the best Chinese restaurants I have ever experienced. We started with the World Won Ton soup, loaded with extra large prawns, calamari, baby bock choy and delicate won tons filled with delicious pork. The broth was clean and fresh. I could have quit right there, but glad we didn’t. Our next dish was only BETTER. The best Honey Walnut Prawns we have ever eaten. The prawns were huge and very tender with airy crisp coating the melted in my mouth. I could eat these every day. Our entries were likewise excellent. Fried rice with pork and more tender prawns. Pan fried noodles with seafood that included more of those outstanding prawns. Mongolian beef with tender sliced beef and spicy sauce that could not be beat. No, the two of us didn’t eat it all. But we sure had a great left over lunch today. My only reluctance to leaving this 5 star review is that the secret will get out and I won’t be able to get a table. :-)

Delicious!!! The service was awesome & didn’t have to wait too long for the food. The eggrols are great, and so is the orange chicken. Very clean on the inside as well. If you haven’t tried this place before, I definitely suggest it. 5 stars.

This is my new go-to Chinese food restaurant. We last came here with a group of 5. We ordered a bottle of KJ Chardonnay and the mu shu pork appetizer, both of which were delicious. We ordered the honey walnut prawns which everyone else at the table enjoyed and said it was the best they have ever had, we ordered Mongolian beef, pork chow mein and fried green rice. Everything was very fresh and flavorful. The staff were all very attentive, filling water and wine glasses often and they brought out a bucket of ice to keep the wine chilled. My 20-month old son slept in my arms throughout our meal and they asked how they could make me comfortable to enjoy my meal and allow him to sleep. The prices are great and the atmosphere is clean and welcoming. I am so glad my in-laws recommended this restaurant.

I love their string bean with chicken and steamed rice. It’s perfect. Beans are done just right — not too crunchy raw, not too mushy. It feels fresh and well cooked at the same time. The chicken is soft and proper amount of moist with a mild appetizing flavor. The spiciness is good. Aroma from the rice is mouth watering. A hint of sweetness. But not too much. It’s a perfectly balanced meal. Both taste-wise and nutrition-wise. Haven’t tried other dishes yet. But i have a feeling those will taste great as well. Ambience is good. Serving time is fast. Good price as well. This one is a keeper.

Food was sub par. Service was the worst. Maybe the folks at the two other tables next to me and I just came in on a bad day. They missed/overcharged or forgot all of our orders.

This is an upscale Asian restaurant focusing on Chinese food. I guess you have to order certain things to have an exceptional experience. Ours was just average. I hope to come back and try a few more things to know better. Our Salt and Pepper Calamari was our best choice for this day. The calamari pieces are very large and the mixture of onion, mild jalapenos and lettuce and nuts made for a real treat with the salty and peppery fried calamari. A bit greasy, but this was a solid 4 stars. It goes down from here… The pumpkin vermicelli was«A-OK» but lacked a good balanced amount of the ingredients(meat), and even though the noodles felt dry they were also a bit greasy. I have to say the mixture was good, solid but one exception here is very salty dried shrimp inside this dish kind of blew it for me. Hmmm… Not the best choice I guess. For number 3 we ordered the Chef Special Spicy Pork and Beech Mushroom. It was definitely cooked right the pork pieces that were tender were excellent, and the green beans which dominated this dish a bit too much were snappy and fresh. The Beech Mushroom which drew me in were also very good. Much of the pork, and there was much more of it in this dish was grisly, and most pieces were fatty. My wife kept asking me if it was pork, but maybe they marinate to give it a certain flavor and they definitely hand cut the pork but it was strange, confusing and I had to spit a few pieces out, they were too tough.(sad) Décor, service and cleanliness are definitely higher end. But you come for the food and you’ll come back for the food. I’ll try other things next time including a soup.

The food was overly salty and heavy with MSG. We ended up having to buy dessert later somewhere else to wash the aftertaste away. We ordered the Seasonal Vegetables and the Japanese Tofu with Mixed Mushrooms. My friend commented that the vegetables of the first dish looked like they didn’t know how to chop vegetables. The Japanese Tofu came out looking more appealing at least. We’d also ordered two bowls of rice and they came out last, about half way into both dishes. I don’t know if they were out of rice or what, but it looked like all the other tables had rice out except ours. One thing about the rice though, the bowls were tall(made from piling two bowls on top of each other) and it reminded both of us of the way they prepare rice for the deceased. It makes me wonder if the owner knows anything about Asian culture… Two stars for décor, music, and the nice waiter who answered my questions and took care of our special requests. But for the price and what we got, I’ll think twice when looking for a place to eat next time. Or definitely ask that they leave MSG out.

Our go to Chinese restaurant! Hubby loves the salt and pepper pork chops and i always order the pan fried noodles. Some dishes are meh but some are yummy. Few recommendations: fried rice, wonton noodle soup, sweet and sour pork, honey walnut shrimp and the pork chops. 4 stars over-all just because it is the best that you can find in Folsom.

Good stuff Lotus 8 has a good selection of choices. I am always ready to try some orange chicken and it is pretty good here. I have tried a few of the other standard dishes and they have been good also. Customer service is friendly but lags big time when a rush hits. This is a lunch place for me so the wait times can be an issue. Overall it is a tasty place and I would definitely return at times when the crowds are low.

Our family really enjoyed this place! Everything came out extremely fast and HOT. We had the orange chicken which was our favorite. The chicken was crispy and succulent. Our waters were always full and the restaurant was clean. Happy with the service and ambiance. :)

First time dining here. Hubs really wanted to try this place after reading a current Sac Bee review. So off we went for Friday night dinner. We ordered lettuce wraps(appetizer), steamed butterfish in black bean sauce(Chef Special), and Cantonese sausage with mixed vegetables(Chef special). The minced chicken, for the lettuce wraps, had too much Chinese parsley in it that overpowered the entire dish. I wanted steamed fish but the only fish that had steamed on the menu was the butterfish. I didn’t know what a butterfish was and had to google it. I ordered the steamed butterfish in black bean sauce, it cost $ 18. The fish was presented beautifully with the head and all. But… the butterfish was thin, lacking meat, and very bony. :(It took some effort to eat. Hubs also ordered a Coke a Cola, he was served a cup of ice and a can if soda. It cost $ 1.50. So no free soda refills. The staff was sooo attentive. Sweet gracious folks. The food came out hot and timely. Another bonus is that the takeout containers are paper based, that’s a big plus over styrofoam. If I’m in the area, I would eat here again but would order different items.

I’ve been going here with my family for years. It’s changed cooks many times over the years and the quality has gone up and down as a result. We keep coming because it’s the closest decent Chinese restaurant. This latest time was much better than my last visit here about a year ago. We ordered 10 dishes between 10 people(a lot, I know). Overall, the dishes were quite salty but there were a few notables. The fried sweet potatoes were great. The batter was done really well. I always love their pea leaves. My brother couldn’t get enough of the shrimp wraps. There was this noodle dish that was disappointing. Overall, it’s a huge improvement from the last time but I wish things weren’t so salty.

When I go out for chinese, this is the kind of place I want to end up! We found this place on Unilocal as we were driving home from Tahoe and thought we would check it out. Believe me, it was a complete score! We had a party of 10 and we ordered so many things: Potstickers, Hot and Sour Soup, Mongolian Beef, Mu Shu Pork, Orange Chicken, Chicken Chow Mein, Kung Pow Chicken, Rice, and Tea. Everything was great! I’m not a fan of Kung Pow, but the rest of my family enjoyed it. The service was also very friendly and attentive. This is now on my list of places to stop while traveling. I wish it was in my home town!

Our first visit to Lotus 8. We were warmly greeted by a friendly young lady and quickly seated. The interior of the place is nice and everything appeared very clean. We started with potstickers. They arrived in about ten minutes. They were piping hot, crisp, yet tender and very flavorful. Next up was the Orange Chicken. Not your usual syrupy, sugary, gooey mess that’s served at most places. No, this Orange chicken was light, crisp, lots of flavor and the portion was quite large. Next to arrive was Chow Fun, Malaysian style. I ordered it «extra spicy». The Chow Fun was served warm, with large shrimp and very moist roast pork. One of the best Chow Fun dishes I’ve ever had! So good and pretty spicy. We also ordered the House Fried Rice. It was very tasty and loaded with a variety of meats and calamari. The food very much reminded me of the flavors I remember from eating at Chinatown in LA when I was young. Very fresh and not at all greasy. The service at Lotus 8 was perfect. Friendly and respectful. The price seemed a little high at first glance, but for the quality of the food and excellent service, the prices were more than fair. We will be back.

The owner is awesome. I like this guy. He would be like a 3rd grandpa if I were creepy or ate here often enough. As far as I can tell, this is one of the few more legitimate Chinese restaurants in the Greater Sacramento area. They serve a lot of meals, but what I like most is that they customize them. Quite frankly, there is little directly on the menu that I want, but when I asked him if he knew about«Buddha’s Chow Mein» — a meal I used to get in Seattle — he said«of course! Happy to make it for you!» and he did, and it was great. Everyone I’ve brought here has loved it as well, so I am pretty sure it is not me, and any time I tell people I’m new to the Folsom area they tell me to try this place, even though I already have, so thanks for nothing advice givers.
