Super good food and beer! Love coming to this place. Always get the cootie burger with tater tots. This place is always busy since its on sutter st. Love the huge selection of beers. Wish they had more seating. But definitely can’t wait to come back :)

The tatter tots are worth the visit alone. Good beer selection. However, there is VERY limited seating. 50⁄50 if you get a seat.

Had the Johnny Cash burger, thick burger cooked perfect with crispy bacon. Awesome. Beer selection is great. Small place but has lounge chairs up front which is a favorite beer bar attribute.

This is my first Unilocal review ever, but I was offended by an employee(guy with beard and hat). I ordered a burger medium rare; it came rare/raw. I don’t mind rare meat and was going to eat it. I showed the employee my burger and told him that the cook should keep an eye on his temperatures for other customers that are sensitive to under-cooked meat. The employee said it looks medium rare and seemed agitated with me. I asked a customer in line what he thought. He also thought it was rare. It really concerned me that their employee can’t tell the difference between meat temperatures. Here is a picture.

This is the best place for really good craft beer in Old Town Folsom. Lots of taps, great pub food and nobody has a bad time. The biggest complaint I have is it gets really loud when it fills up. Otherwise the crew does the job to make this place fun and memorable. GREATBEERS.

Funky, cute, hole-in-the-wall… but yummy(and satisfying) sandwiches and burgers… oh, yah,… accompanied by a «refreshing» beverage!!!

We love this place. They may feature beer, but they make a mean old fashioned as well. The food is delicious and the people are friendly. Though I wish this place were bigger, we almost never have trouble getting a spot.

The family and I came here today while we were on this side of town… got here right when they opened and glad we did because they really started to fill up. This place is nestled right in heart of old Folsom amongst all the cool shops, antique stores and other restaurants. It is really cool inside while smaller inside laid out well with a good amount of seating. We grabbed a 4 top and browsed over the menu and made our selections. Trust me it is really hard and they have a great selection of burgers, sandwiches, salads and snacks. Plus the beer selection is really on point with choices from all over California. They also have a full bar if your looking for that as well and wine. For lunch I decided with the Cootie burger and added bacon. This burger is not for the sensitive to spice palates. The spicy serrano aioli is so good and makes this burger over the top. Everything about this burger was so delicious but the crown jewel was the over easy egg on top… that when you took your first bite broke open and just oozed over the whole burger. It was everything you want about meat, pork, buns, egg, spicy all in one bite. Great place and will be back for sure.

The only reason this place gets four stars is because it’s very small. The service is great and it’s a nice place to come to and unwind. Their beer selection is on point and they give great recommendations. I would probably only bring one friend with me because it’s such a tight place.

The perfect place for beer and terribly delicious food. The beer selection is very expansive, so much as to offer metrics to help you determine which ones have more malt and hops. The location itself has a very divey pub-like feel to it, ranging from the mix of booth and stool seating to the brick alleyway restroom locations; it’s got it all. The place does get fairly packed given its smaller footprint, but it adds to the vibe and doesn’t get too noisy or the least bit boisterous. The food is the main star of the show. We had the pretzels, which paired with the house-crafted cheese dip, was already enough to make me love this place. The blue cheese and bacon fries were also great, but were overshadowed by other items on the menu. We had the Johnny Cash burger with the tots, and we were sold on that duo. The tater tots were crisped perfectly, and the burger was done to medium rare perfection. The bacon was a perfect addition to the burger flavor profiles, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. The portions were completely generous, and we left satisfied and wanting to come back as soon as possible!

Firstly, the milk stout by Firestone was amazing. I believe it’s called the Velvet Wizard. It is the smoothest Stout I’ve ever tasted! Ordered the Dobie, which was really tasty, along with the spinach salad. We split them so we could taste a little of both. The chicken soup fell short, and the tater tots were very salty, but if you dip in ketchup, it tones it down. Overall, it was a tasty place and I would return. I definitely like the habadashery vibe to it.

What can I say about Sam Hornes?! This place is in freaking credible. They have an amazing beer selection and they even carry Firestones anniversary and limited release beers for $ 20 a bottle to go. Their food is to die for. We always get the Cootie burger cooked medium with whatever tater tot special they have that day. The burger is so flavorful. Garlicy with spinach and a nice over medium egg on top. So so good. We’ve never seen them repeat their tot special, and they’ve all been amazinggggg. Tots with sausage and gravy, tots with salami and parmesan, tots with jalapeños and bacon, tots with steak peppers and cheese… the list goes on. Inexpensive and ALWAYS busy, so you might have to wait a while because the place is tiny.

Small, quaint little place. If you dine here at dinnertime, plan to wait at least 30+ minutes for a table. Nice selection of beer and menu items. Turkey Burgers & Tater Tots are a must try! 4 out of 5 stars for the wait.

Not a long review here. This place was super solid! They had a really good beer selection. I ordered the turkey burger and it was really good! The atmosphere is totally cool run down old school bar vibe but with quality beer and food. It is pretty small so if you got a big group plan accordingly. I will definitely be back!!!

Samuel Horne’s Tavern is a pretty neat place! I’m a huge fan of Sutter street in general in Folsom but this was our first time there. FYI: This is a order at the bar, find your own seat type of place and seating is limited and on a first come first served basis. Kind of wish I knew this but it wasn’t a big deal. We managed to snag a table as a family was leaving. For 3:00 pm on a Sunday afternoon it was pretty busy. We tried the Johnny Cash Burger and tots. We got one regular side tot and one of their specials which was marinara sauce, cheese and Italian sausage. It was pretty tasty. The burger didn’t disappoint either. Not a frozen patty, a good sized robust burger. You can actually order with two patties and I couldn’t image doing that because the one patty was PLENTY big enough. We had ordered the baked pretzels for appetizer and they came out with the food so we didn’t really eat much of them on the count that our lunch portions were huge. I like their wide range beer selection but for their regular drinks, you get a small mason jar pretty filled with ice and they don’t come around and fill up your drinks so that would be my only disappointment. Either get bigger mason jars, fill with less ice or offer refill service. Other than that, it was a pretty good experience.

We ran in here to get out of the rain and discovered the perfect mid week lunch spot… Many many craft brews to pick from listed on the wall and a perfect size menu. The french dip was so good with blue cheese, onions strings, on fresh bread and it was the perfect size. And they have tater tots as a side option — who can pass up tater tots?! I think I may have left with more questions than answers… The dining room is beautiful and looks historic with exposed brick and vintage signs and upholstered walls. What’s the heritage? Who is Sam Horne? I need to find out next time I’m passing through Folsom.

Samuel Horne’s Tavern is the best place to get quality beer on Sutter Street, as well as one of the best places in Folsom. They consistently have a great selection of rotating craft beer taps, in every style(one of my recent favorites was the Port Mongo IPA). They have brews from around the United States, but tend to focus more on California brews. They even have some great local options. The beertenders are always very friendly, and let you sample a beer before committing to it. It is a self-service place, but they seem to always clear your glasses in a timely manner. There are not many tables, so on busy nights expect to stand among a crowd. Trivia on Wednesdays is always a blast. It begins around 7:30pm and goes until about 9pm. I would recommend coming a minimum of an hour early if you want to be able to snag a table for your trivia group. There is a group of regulars that tends to always win, but the questions are interesting and definitely doable if you keep up with current events and pop culture.

Holy snap the burger here is good! I have cooties now because I had«THECOOTIE» burger. A juicy and perfectly cooked angus beef patty with pepper jack cheese, spinach, serrano aoli, roasted serrano’s, and then topped with an over easy egg. Delicious! Lots of beefy flavor and a super light and fresh bun made for a lighter burger packed with tons of flavor. The opposite of a diner style burger. Came with some crispy fries, a deal for $ 10.( ) Paired it with this apricot beer from Oregon. Refreshing for a hot Folsom day. Burger, beer, and tip was under $ 20. Watched the niner game here but it’s not really a sports bar. *Notes* *With it’s location in old town Folsom it kinda feels like a contemporary saloon inside. *I liked how the beer menu has a gauge from light to dark, to malty to hoppy to help you decide. *The turkey burger was nice and light. The tater tots are perfectly crispy without being oily. Really good food. I’m going to have to try their peanut butter burger next. 4.5 stars rounding up because that burger was surprisingly good.

Ah-Maze-Ing! Old town Folsom is the cutest little town and Sam Horne’s is the epitome of this old mining town. You walk through these thin red doors into a small little pub that looks like it’s squeezed between 2 buildings. But that’s its charm! There are 6 or 7 tables and areas to sit. Some are booths, some are bar tables and one is even lie a living room cigar bar corner. You order at the bar: grab a menu from a table first. Beers are on the wall at the bar. I got the French Dip with Tater Tots and a Cider. Best French dip I’ve had EVER! And they filled the basket with Tots, they could have fed 2 people. And the cider was crisp, so good! I went on a Wednesday, it was still packed! I can only imagine weekends. This place is a must try if you’re in Folsom!

Fantastic little gem in Folsom! We were headed back from Folsom Lake and I wanted to grab a snack after floating around in the sun all day. Unilocal said I’d like Samuel Horne’s Tavern, Unilocal was right! First of all, the doors here are open, even if you have a complete blonde moment and don’t try and PUSH on the closed doors. They aren’t locked, they are just serious doors. I probably tried four times before we gave up and went down a side alley, also through a set of doors on the street. The double doors open, just push, don’t be a wuss. Tons and tons of fantastic beer selections available! Every kind of beer you could ever want. I so love this, there seem to be so manny hop heavy beers and IPAs lately. I was treated to a testy amber/red beer, forget which one it was. The food is also very good. I grabbed some pretzels and also an order of the special Tots, tonight it was a pizza type tot. I ended up taking almost everything home and it was delicious the next FOUR times we made snacks. Yes, FOUR, the portions are huge. I loved the red sauce on the Tots. Also, the beer cheese is really good, it comes with the pretzels. It’s got a creamy texture with a little green onion bite too it, good! The bartender was really nice, I think he laughed when I tried to make a joke about my door setback. He was probably laughing at me, but that’s okay. Great stop and they have live music on Sundays!
