For this area this is one of the nicer hotels. That being said don’t set your expectations too high. This is a small town in North Carolina. Several restaurants within walking distance both fast food and sit down. Nicer restaurants in a small strip mall are short drive away. The combinations are roomy enough and well-kept. The staff will go above and beyond to make sure your stay is pleasant. For work I’ve had to travel all around North America. I had the pleasure of dealing with April and Patrick at this hotel. Both were friendly and helpful. On both occasions I stayed here they went out of their way to accommodate my needs. The staff I give five stars the facilities I gift for.

This property was delightful. The staff was warm & friendly. We had the suite with kitchenette on the top floor. It was clean, very comfortable and quiet. Highly recommend. Minus one star because the internet, while easy to access was difficult to stay connected to. It kept signing us out and we had to login repeatedly. In the evening it was very slow. I use an iPhone on AT&T and for some reason I couldn’t receive calls while in the room even though I had a 3 bar 4G signal. Voicemails would suddenly show up & we almost missed a dinner invite because of the problem. While I know this isn’t the fault of the hotel, it is something to note if getting calls is important.

As Holiday Inn Express properties go, this one is decidedly average. The high-speed Internet, if you want to call it only works intermittently. The service is friendly enough and the rooms are consistently clean. The Parking lot has been newly paved and that’s always a plus. Lots of nice fresh choices for breakfast never hurts, and the breakfast room is actually very nice. The fixtures in the room could probably use a little bit of updating the tables, the lamps, etc. The beds are super comfortable though. This is a decent property and probably the best place to stay when you’re in Forest City.

4⁄5 stars! This was a good choice, and seem to get cudo’s from the local business crowd. Locals tell me this is the nicest place in town. I had a great experience! Wifi worked without a hitch, it’s free and requires a code to access. Room was clean and modern. HDTV with plenty of channel options, from local TV to the premium cable/satellite offering(HBO, CNN, HGTV, Cartoon Network, Disney, Spike, Sci-Fi, etc.). I had a room with a king bed, very comfortable. Microwave, frig and a nice desk to work from. They have a nice complimentary; breakfast, eggs, bacon, pastries, cereals, coffee … all the choices that you could want. I was on the first floor that was a little noisy. I will probably request a room on a different floor next time. That cost them ½ a star. But it may have been that the parking lot was full when I arrived late monday night and the only King room left. I had good 4G cell service through AT&T 3⁄5 bars most of the time. And the same coverage on a different phone through Verizon. Front Desk staff in the morning could be a little more friendly — that’s the other ½ star. Cleaning staff and the breakfast staff were very nice, good morning and smiles. I like that! The young man watching during the late night staff was very nice.

Absolute worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. My company booked a stay here for my colleagues and myself during a business trip. The wireless internet service did not function at all, on my laptop or my phone. There is no wired option, so essentially I had zero internet connectivity while staying here. This was a huge problem for me as I was unable to work while I was in the room. I also had no cell service in most of the building and the few areas where I did, it was only one bar. The carpet in my room was covered in wet patches. In addition, the walls are paper thin and you can hear everything in the rooms around you from TVs to children to conversation. DONOTSTAYHERE.

If you need to stay in this area then this is a good choice. This is better than the Holiday Inn in Shelby as that one has two floors but no elevator(I know… huh!!!) This Holiday Inn is comfortable, the breakfast is decent and the coffee is good. The lady that takes care of breakfast in the mornings is amazingly friendly and dedicated to making her guest(s) feel at home. I feel like I am sitting at the breakfast table at my old house talking to my mom. Kudos to her. The room is very reasonably priced. The cons: smokers on the first floor. Did someone ditch Physics class? warm air rises… I can smell the cigarrette smoke and I am on the third floor(and yes there is an elevator!) One night I smelled green leafy all night. The last time I stayed here the maid did not vacuum for days. Because this is not a busy hotel, the receptionists get bored and talk it up on the phone. While checking out I had to wait until she got to a good stopping point in her story so that she could tell her caller to «hold on» because she«had to wait on a customer» The gym has old, outdated and downright dangerous treadmills. I almost tripped because the belt was loose and this was BEFORE I started drinking. I know we have a negotiated rate for this hotel for our project but if there was a Marriott nearby I would stay there and you would have to pry the Marriott room key off my cold dead fingers!!!
