BEWARE! What another reviewer said was correct. They charge you extra without letting you know if you pay with a credit card. I got a kabab platter($ 17.99) and when they took my card they said $ 18, but when I got home I saw my credit card was charged $ 19.50! Beware, people.

They are always friendly and the food is wonderful. I usually get the falafel pita extra spicy.

Pahal Zan is a hidden gem of a lunch spot in Forest Hills. For $ 10 you get sheer perfection of freshness, taste, and flavor which makes one feel like they are in the Middle East but never left the backyard. The owner fills your pita with a choice of the most beautiful salads and this compliments a high grade of kosher meat to achieve a taste that I highly recommend. You will be back time and time again like me.

I ordered a falafel sandwich and hummus on the side. I waited one hour and a half just for a simple sandwich and when I got it it was ice cold gross!!! Never ever am I ordering from here.

One of the best spots in queens to get a quick bite to eat. Really small place but the falafels are amazing. You can stay there too eat or take it to go, which I usually do.

The best falafel I’ve had to date. It also came with an abundance of crazy good toppings, the best out of all being roasted eggplant. That thing was out of this world. Portions are fairly large, one sandwich was large and filling to become my dinner. We were the last ones to come in on a late Sunday night, and the staff was super friendly and sweet. If you’re looking to avoid overpriced sit down sushi spots and steak houses around the area, this is the winner!

Never had an issue with wait! I always called in for pick up — they gave me a time, I pull up, passenger runs out and hand them the cash, and we get the goods. I always order the platter! The veggies are top notch and fresh and the lamb and falafel with spicy sauce always tasty! Lip smacking good — I have them on speed dial on my phone! No pretense no fuss place! I love it as a go to place!

The place is a hole in the wall, but its worth trying at least once. We got both the beef kebob sandwich(basically an overcooked hamburger) and the chicken shish kebab sandwich. The Chicken was legit! The pita falls apart, but really liked the endless toppings. The hummus is standard, but the hot sauce, cole slaw, and baba ghanouje(sp?) really stood out.

Oh… I love the food here. The salads are divine… topped by the incredible eggplant salad… THEBEST… Just thinking about sitting there I am salivating. The entire menu reflects the best and tastiest of Israeli, mediterranean food culture. Any Falafel lover will fall in love with their version. The place is pleasant, efficient, clean, and fun, and the prices, while not overly inexpensive, are worth the expense. The restaurant ISKOSHER — not that I personally care much, but if you do– know that it is. I am totally hooked. Enjoy.

This is what a five star place is made of. Fresh, delicious, clean kitchen from what I can tell, AND affordable for the neighborhood. Amazing halal food and definitely recommend the kebab platters with all the salad sides. Chicken was tender and my only complaint was that the hummus texture was a bit on the thin side. Great place for some take out fix.

Great small yet convenient place. We got the lamb kebab meal which had a great combination of lamb, naan, salad, hummus and other items. The place was small and only had a couple of seats by the wall however the food was delicious and I’ll definitely come back but maybe for take out next time.

We switch on and off between Pahal Zan and Wafa’s for Falalfels as the two are completely different but delicious. Sometimes you want a Pita, sometime you want a thin Pita Wrap. 5÷20÷15 My 68yr old Mother waits in line around 6pm for 3 Falafel Pitas. Everyone behind her that ordered a Platter was served immediately. Her and this other gentleman who ordered 1 Falafel Pita waited 45+ min. Was this order discrimination? Platter $ 15, Falafel Pita just $ 7? Why would they serve customer after customer who came in after her? When we finally received our order, they apologized for the wait. My mother was furious! 45+ min for 3 Falafel Pitas while she just waited off to the side after paying? Needless to say the sandwiches were ice cold and tasted — not the same. Something is off with Pahal Zan — and it’s not good. Really disappointed with you Pahal Zan, you used to be so good.

Buyers Beware: They charge a different price if you pay by credit card without informing you first. They told me a set price and charged my card another price. I didn’t realize what they were charging me until I read my receipt later. I guess it was my fault for not reading the reviews beforehand. Like other Unilocalers have mentioned, it’s not because we’re being cheap… it really is the principle of the matter and I think this place is just SHADY! To top it off, you only get 3 pieces of falafel and they were dry as hell! I’d be glad to take my business elsewhere!

They have really good food but I will never come here again based on principal. I was told my chicken pita and falafel side would be $ 15. I paid with a credit card; my credit card statement shows I was charged $ 16.29. I was not told about an additional fee for the credit card. A little suspicious looking back on it since the person who took my order told me I didn’t have to sign and asked if I wanted my receipt. Lesson learned: always ask for receipts. Call me cheap, but I don’t like being lied to.

Yum, yum Falafels! Moroccan spiced Falafels! I tried the Falafel Pita Sandwich. The Falafel balls were spiced up and crunchy on the outside! Surprisingly, very moist but not greasy on the inside. Delicious! The pita bread itself was a delight as well! So soft and fresh! The sandwich comes with salad — chopped up lettuce, chunks of tomatoes, and cucumber strips dressed with tahini sauce! I am still currently enjoying it at the moment! Very light vegetarian option that does not leave you bloated. The only down side is that my Falafel balls are cold, however, surprisingly still crunchy! Service was quick and staff is very polite. Located conveniently under the Forest Hills LIRR station, it is a good grab and go spot! I will be returning to try their«kababs» and platters!

Pahal Zan is a real neighborhood gem. It’s a real tiny shack right next to the Long Island Railroad station. It’s been here for a few years now and I finally tried it the other day. Food — My wife and I were hungry so we decided to order 3 different pita sandwiches. Sandwich #1 — Falafel! Absolutely bangin! The crispiness of the falafel was so good. The sandwich was loaded with falafels, tahini sauce, spicy sauce, salads and pickle and more. The sandwich was cheap and delicious! Sandwich #2 — Lamb Kebab. Pretty darn good but I liked the Falafel sandwich more. The lamb was juicy and tender. It’s not my favorite of the 3 but still a excellent sandwich. Sandwich #3 — Chicken Liver. This would be my runner up for this experience. They gave a excellent amount of chicken liver in this pita sandwich. Health wise, this stuff is probably bad for your cholesterol but how could you resist when something this good is stuffed into a pita sandwich? If you like chicken organs, they have more than just liver. They got hearts too! The chicken liver and hearts are bit more expensive than the others so I would choose wisely if I’m on a lunch budget. Service — Great! 2 guys were working and both dudes were really friendly and laid back. Verdict — If you haven’t been to Pahal Zan yet, you’re definitely missing out. It’s a real hidden gem in Forest Hills. They make a good falafel here. I no longer have to commute to Astoria or into the city for a good falafel sandwich. Pahal Zan makes a great one and they’re located right in the heart of Forest Hills. They accept all major credit cards and they are closed on Saturday. If you’re looking for a good authentic kosher meal in this part of Forest Hills, look no further because Pahal Zan has it all in their tiny shack next to the LIRR.
