We were just passing through town and decided to stop for something to eat. We were not prepared for this place to be anything more than average. We were so wrong! I had the shrimp which was really really good! Very yummy as was the shrimp my husband had. They even had gluten free items.

This restaurant is my favorite place to eat in forest lake. If I were to recommend items on the menu, I would most certainly tell you that the Prime Rib is the best I’ve ever had(and I’ve had $ 60 Prime Rib before), and the chicken strips(quacktenders) are the best chicken strips around. I’m always torn as to what I should get because both of which are fantastic. everything else on the menu is good, just not otherworldly.

Norman Quacks is a place we had hoped to go to a while ago, but ended up elsewhere. We finally got a chance to swing in on Monday night. Service was pretty abysmal for a time when we were one of three tables in the place. We had to ask for our server twice, asked two other staff members to refill waters and get us condiments and quite frankly have no idea why we even bothered having the server, we used everyone else in the restaurant more. We started with cheese curds, because, well, come on now, you know how we roll. They were salty beyond the point of being able to overcome that shortfall based purely off of what they are, and that’s deep fried cheese. I mean, check my reviews, I’ve had cheese curds of all kinds, but, these were so insanely salty, we were mixing ketchup and the ranch together to try and calm the saltiness down in order to eat them. Just a total swing and miss, which, how? Next up… french dip, was ok. I didn’t order it, but, had a tasting, and wasn’t overly impressed. I ordered the Norman Club burger thing with chicken. Very dry, and very tasteless. Yeah, you get turkey, ham and the normal club things with it too, so you’d expect there to be some sort of flavor… but, a las, it fails your expectations and thoughts. It’s literally just an overdone chicken boob with those things, and some toast. Sweet potato fries were the best part of the meal, as were their normal fries. Opted against dessert and just to call it a day from there on. I’d say it’s better than White Castle, which is next door, but, I’m sure the Sliders Faithful would vehemently argue that statement. Might give it another chance while I’m up in Forest Lake, but, doubt that. None of us 4 were overly impressed.

The food is yummy, but what steals the show is the beer selection. You won’t find another place in Forest Lake with the variety they have. Lots of great, local seasonal beers on tap! Music was spot on with some chill 70’s rock.

Glad I stopped by. Good beer. Good prices on 27 taps. $ 100th for 6 wings wasn’t worth it. $ 10 for a slice of cheesecake. $ 100 tab was surprising for what we got. Good environment. I’d go back but stay away from overpriced app and dessert.

Best chicken strips and honey mustard you’ll find in Minnesota. The culture is true to forest lake, a very relaxed place to grab a beer and a good meal. Good casual family restaurant with friendly staff.

Where do I start this? Some of their apps are very good. The ribs suck out loud. Nice selection of beers. Here’s what I don’t like. I watched two waitresses drop tongs on the floor twice. These are the tongs they use to serve their bread. Very good bread BTW, but do I want floor scum on my bread? They pick it up, throw it back in the basket. Here’s another thing. They handle the bread without gloves. I watched them clean tables with a dirty rag, then go cut up bread bare handed. Nasty!

The food is always great! We came to celebrate my sister’s birthday and we got horrible service. Our server, Lisa, was very rude. She brought us our check when half of us were still eating. We planned on having after dinner drinks and when we ordered them she looked very dissapointed. It was very clear she wanted us out fast and we came after the dinner rush, it was not busy at this time.

The name threw us off at first, but we didn’t want fast food so that’s were we went. We were VERY pleasantly surprised. Service was quick on a Saturday night at 7pm. We each got burgers. My hubby got the Smoke Head and it was really good. I got the Loosey Goosey and it was amazing! The place was clean and I got 2 beers for $ 5! Very pleased that we decided to take a chance on a place with a weird name.

The food here is excellent. The service is above excellent. On my last visit, I had the barbecue ribs. The ribs were great. The onion rings were, maybe, the best I have had. The batter was that great balance of not too sweet, not too salty. The rings were perfectly fried, and not overly greasy. The other members of my party had the prime rib. Every plate was clean at the end of the meal. The waitress went above and beyond to make sure we had a great meal. The only warning I would give would be, if you are ordering a drink, stick to something that doesn’t come out of a soda gun, as it tasted like those have not been cleaned in a while.

Huge menu! Decent food. Spicy tilapia soup was good but very rich. Onion rings were a tad underdone. Very good at refilling bread and water.

The bread they serve when you sit down with the homemade«cookie» butter was such a treat. I had a steak sandwich with sweet potato fries and the meat was lean and cooked well. Great atmosphere

Absolutely AWFUL! The potato skins where almost bare. The fries were cold and the«smashed» potatoes were slimy and over loaded with garlic. The buffalo chicken sandwich that I had hoped would be the main course was covered in a sauce that tasted of Tabasco sauce that had been diluted with vinegar. I LITERALLY sent it back because it was inedible. I would NOT recommend.

Great food, great service, great atmosphere. I love everything about this place. It’s perfect for a date night, or just to grab a bite to eat while out and about. I had the prime rib, it literally melts in your mouth. The cook, the cut, the seasoning were all perfect. Definitely going back soon

Stopped on a whim and overall we were impressed. We kinda set our expectations low but sometimes you have to do that lol. Food was good. I had the Buffalo chicken sandwich with waffle fries. They were really good!!! The kids meals were generous and fun. We will def. be back!

Good food, good drinks and good prices. Solid choice for a sandwich or dinner and a beer or hard cider. I thought it was a Perkins type restaurant but it’s not– it’s a restaurant with legit bar. Fun Minnesota outdoorsy décor and a good selection of bottles.

Overall, Quack’s is simply not good enough. Don’t get me wrong, there are times when I have been there that the food is very good(actually, the pork chops are come of the best I have ever had). But way more often than not, they miss… by a lot. The food is generally edible, for the most part. Lean towards the pork chops or maybe a steak. Some of the sandwiches are ok, too. Their bread is also medicore… I almost think it could be improved without their super sweet butter. Steer clear of any fish besides the walleye. In general, I think the service is below average. The hostesses are not welcoming, which seems oxymoronic to me. I think of the 8 or 9 times I have been there, I have been satisfied with the service once or twice. On the whole, I want to like this place being there are limited options in Forest Lake. I keep trying, but I just have a feeling that the end of my patience is coming soon.

My excitement to check out the local Forest Lake joint soon turned to disappointment once the meal got started. The cheese curd appetizer was good, but it was loaded with salt. Then came the beer cheese soup. Man was that bad. It was water thin and super spicy with popcorn on top. The popcorn does not work. I traded that in for the baked potato soup and that wasn’t much better. The walleye fillet had a crunchy crust but it lacked any seasoning. I relied on the tarter sauce to add flavor. The chicken tenders were just ok. The Friday fish sampler special wasn’t anything special. The coconut shrimp were covered in a super thick mushy batter rolled in a little coconut. My wife ended up just eating the shrimp inside and leaving the batter on her plate. On the positive, the bread boy did a fine job keeping our bread basket and custom flavored butter filled. Tonight’s butter flavor was cherry-lime. I would try it again and go for a sandwich or something they might be able to get right. I’m not a steak eater so you will have to look to others for that review. One more thing I forgot. The coleslaw is bad. Don’t get it.

This is a nice family owned Restaurant in Forest Lake, MN. I found this place several years ago just walking around town. But after the service and the nice Monte Cristo sandwich and the tender bones ribs and waffle fries I was hooked. 2 for 1 drinks are new to me, but you won’t hear any complaints from me. I love this place and can’t wait to eat here again next month! So see you guys there I’ll be the stuffing my face! 100 reviews down ! 1000 to go !
