If anyone knows if or where this restaurant may have relocated to please please share. The food at Bistro Sake was great I would love to know if this place is open some where else in the city.

Went here for a birthday dinner. Our first tip off should have been the lack of people in the restaurant on the day after Christmas as that is usually a high demand day for eating out. We had a group and decided to get the all you can eat as we could have easily spent more than $ 22 per person with the main menu. The rolls had WAYYYYY too much rice. The first bite I took I didn’t think I was going to get it down because of all the rice. After that myself as well as everyone else in my group began to scrape the rice off the rolls just to get it down. We were aware of the rule of no waste but didn’t think they could put a price on a pile of rice. One person in my group asked for an extra plate because hers was full of rice. The waiter(possibly management) then began to chastise her for not eating the rice. He told us next time we would be charged for not eating even the rice. We confronted him about the quality of the rolls. He began to defend them. I have had excellent sushi, this was mediocre at best. A few pieces were basically rice and a piece of lettuce. The focus of the sushi should be everything but the rice. It really is too bad that this place doesn’t put out good quality sushi because the atmosphere was really nice and the music wasn’t too loud. They had limited wine and beer selections. After reading other reviews it sounds like we are not the only ones who had a similar experience. The location is unfortunate and in my time growing up in this area I saw multiple businesses come and go. We will not be returning!

This place continues to produce some of the best sushi I have had in the area. The owner is fantastic and the fish is super fresh! I also really enjoy the miso from this place. Reasonably priced and great service. We continue to come back because it is so delicious! Try any of the spicy rolls(scallop is my favorite) and the wildfire for a non-traditional sushi roll is dynamite!

AWFUL! BEWARE! Miso cold — Edamame was pretty good, but how can you ruin Edamame? Sushi was very heavy on the rice, with no flavor. Rolls were nearly all rice. Waiter as much as stated that the all-you-can-eat menu had more rice than the regular menu. Very, very deceptive. They charge you for any pieces not consumed. Roll pieces were very large. We started picking the rice off of the very large pieces, and eventually had a mountain of rice on our plates. Waiter actually said that the rice was part of the deal, as if to say that if we didn’t eat all our rice, they would charge us for the leftovers! HORRIBLE! The beer I wanted to order was not in stock. The Chardonnay my wife wanted to order was not in stock. Settled for a Sapporo and a pino grigio. Now we know why this place is always nearly empty. STAYAWAY!

Upscale atmosphere at a busy intersection, really good miso soup, but it all went drastically downhill from there. Granted I was there at a slow time about 3:30 Thurs, but the sushi rice was chill, like they just pulled it out of the fridge, wouldn’t make spicy tuna hand roll, just regular maki. Then the spicy tuna roll was the very least imaginative, no better than what you might carry out a grocery store: just a regular tuna roll with a dollup of spicy sauce on each piece. I questioned whether I properly received the yellowtail I ordered, manager(or owner?) insisted it was, but it was the darkest red I’d ever seen yellowtail(and I eat sushi several times per week). The worst was the spider roll, which had soft shell crab on the ends, but imitation crab in the middle, which my server/mgr/owner? admitted. Then, although the restriction was not on the terms of my certificate, he pointed to some fine print on the menu that my $ 15 credit(the reason I was there) could not be used with all you can eat. STAYAWAY!

The best all-you-can-eat sushi menu! Great quality at an amazing price! I don’t know why more people in the area haven’t caught onto Bistro Sake. This location has housed so many different restaurants over the years, and perhaps that’s why. I hope Bistro Sake has more lasting power because it’s consistently excellent!

I really love this place. The food is excellent and the service is great. The kids love it too. They originally said no to the Tempura, but after insisting that they try it, it is now one of their favorites. The sushi is super good and fresh. So glad to have such an awesome sushi place so close to home.

Came for the all you can eat 21.95 dinner. The rolls are all pure rice with a touch of actual fish. The fish was not fresh(had a metal taste). The menu is very vague and says things like«all kinds of sauces» and«all kinds of fish» strange. When I ordered the owner told us we could share my food.(Rude) instead of the person I came with ordering anything more. Pretty sucky. I love sushi and this place is close. Guess I’ll find a new spot. It’s never busy and now i know why

Perfect gyoza! Great spring rolls, very clean environment and fast service. Don’t like rules for buffet, but great food.

Used to love coming here for all you can eat sushi, till tonight. They serve LOTS of rice with their rolls and sushi pieces(clearly, it’s cheaper than the fish), and I was eating the fish with some rice, but less than what they serve. The server came over to tell us that if we want to order sashimi we need to do it off the regular menu(not all you can eat) and that next time they’ll charge us for the uneaten rice. #1. That’s crap, nowhere on their menu does it say you have to eat the rice or be charged for it. #2. And MOREIMPORTANTLY, the manager made our poor server deliver this most unwelcome news! This poor girl didn’t make the rule, we could have cut her tip or yelled at her… We did neither of course. We DID tell that manager that it was HIS job to deliver tough news to a customer. It’s not his wait staffs job to do his dirty work. He should be ashamed. She was embarrassed and should have been put in that situation. Terrible management, mediocre sushi at best. We won’t be back.

Just moved to the area and was really glad to stumble upon Bistro Sake for my local sushi fix. The inside is deceptively nice; I didn’t expect it to be so nicely done when I was walking by the outside. They have a cool little bar area when you walk in, and plenty of tall and regular seating throughout the restaurant. It looks like this place could get pretty busy at night, but I’ve only come during the day(lunch time) and it was relatively slow. We had the spring rolls and the dumplings for appetizers, as we all as two miso soups. For entrees we have 4 pieces of sashimi(octopus and tuna), and then mixed in a few signature and maki rolls. Everything we had was super fresh and really well made. From presentation to taste, we liked every part of the meal. I’ll definitely be frequenting this spot now that I’m living so close :)

I was a little disappointed. Don’t get me wrong, service was good. Taste was good. I ordered a few maki rolls. I hate to admit it but they were a little shy with their sushi. The slices on the rolls were so thin and the ones on the sushi pieces were falling apart. :/ I do have to point out that their green tea was nice and hot. Loose tea leaves and came in a nice pot.

While the service was OK, I’m sure if there were more than 3 tables the one waiter would’ve been overwhelmed… The three of us had the ayce option for lunch. Needless to say nothing really stood out. The appetizers were weak at best. We has miso soup, ginger salad, wild fire, chicken satay, and fried gyoza. Fried gyoza– wrapper too thick so when fried was super hard Ginger salad– doused in dressing. Blech. Wild fire-only appetizer that showed promise. Was decent. Chicken satay –aka teriyaki chicken. Sauce was decent but waaaay overcooked. Onto the nightmare: I’ve never had rolls with such a ridiculous 75:15:10 ratio of rice, vegetables, and fish. I uploaded a few pictures describing that. What a joke. I won’t be returning this place. Spent $ 64 for the three of us with no drinks. I’d say $ 4 of those dollars went to raw fishing that. Staaaay awayyyyy… you’re welcome

For about $ 20 buck per person you can get the all you can eat dinner. It’s a cool date place. Get the cold sake. I love it! We arrived around 7, got seated right away, had very helpful waiter and waitress(not our own) come help us decide on things. Everything we had was wonderful although a few rolls could of used less rice. I can’t wait to go back and try some more yummy sushi and appetizers.

«Restrictions may apply» Don’t they always? Using a $ 15 off Groupon hampered my ability to order the things I wanted. The ‘all-you-can-eat’ sushi [note: NOT a sushi buffet] cannot be used in conjunction with this, and you are charged $ 1 for every sushi piece that isn’t consumed. This is to discourage customers from being wasteful, which is completely understandable. The interior was more intimate than I was expecting and featured a working fireplace in the dining area – kind of odd. It was extremely quiet on a Wednesday night, almost eerily so. Very few patrons walked through the doors during our meal, which makes me wonder… Typically, miso soup(miso horny? sorry, couldn’t resist) is included with sushi entrees for normal paying customers. But for those using a coupon, they don’t get miso for some reason. As much as that bums me out, it puts me in a unique position to say the following(and believe me, I’ve been waiting my whole life to squeeze this in somewhere): *ahem* NOSOUPFORYOU! Ahh, there we go. Finally got the Soup Nazi monkey off of my back. Feels good. Gyoza(fried pork dumplings-$ 6) were nice and crispy, the spring rolls($ 3) were delicious, and the beef-asparagus rolls(a whopping $ 9) amounted to $ 1.50 per inch-long piece, a lot of money for such little payoff. The sushi entrees themselves were top-notch, however. We were advised to eat one item«as-is” – without blithely dunking them in soy sauce – and it was great advice. A lot of care and precision was put into their nigiri and sashimi sushi, that much was evident. The green tea was $ 5, the most I’ve ever paid for a pot of tea. At many places, the tea is complimentary, while elsewhere it’s only $ 2 or $ 3 at most. So to see that on the final bill was kind of a downer. Honestly, I would still return to try the AYCE experience, as the sushi here is very high quality. But the overall high price point is discouraging, and coupon users beware!

Wow — where do I start??? I’ve been by this place a number of times and all over the outside there are signs for the AYCE sushi at lunch. Been thinking about going there for awhile, and finally when I saw a $ 10 for $ 20 lunch offer on Groupon a couple of weeks back, I decided to buy one. So on a Frigid Friday around 1PM, I headed in. As I walked through the first door, I was greeted by a gentleman wearing a coat, who turned out to be the manager. He told me I could sit anywhere, which literally meant any seat since there was nobody in the place. I headed to the sushi bar as I usually do when I go to sushi places. As I pull the chair out, I mention to the now coatless manager who is seating me that I have a Groupon. Groupon doesn’t require one to mention it upfront, I just do it as a courtesy. As soon as I mentioned it, I was told that I could use the Groupon and order off the lunch menu(ala carte) or order the AYCE but not with the Groupon, one deal! When I pointed out that there was no such disclaimer anywhere on the Groupon he essentially repeated the«either /or» option and«one deal». I was in no mood to argue, so I decided to just use it and leave. So I did something I can’t recall ever doing which was ordering and eating«to the Groupon». One California roll and three tekka makis — five bucks each — $ 20. The funny thing is that I wasn’t really all that hungry and had I been allowed to have the AYCE sushi with the Groupon, I probably would have had a couple of Sapporos and not eaten that much more, if at all. So the bill would have been more as with the tip that goes with it. I will say that the sushi was actually pretty good and the service itself was OK which is why I have given«BS»(fitting acronym!) three stars. Here’s the thing — I know restaurants that issue Groupons take a bath in many cases; they only are reimbursed about 25% of the total Groupon value. But it wasn’t my fault that the manager/owner of BS failed to include a disclaimer about AYCE sushi in their Groupon promotion. Nor is there even a statement near the entry that it is excluded. And what if I hadn’t said anything before I ordered — would they have forced me to pay? Just horribly poor customer relations that totally blew the purpose of offering Groupons to begin with. So as far as BS goes — the«one deal» is and was my LAST deal there — I will not patronize a business that is run this way.

Torn between one and two stars for my dining experience. This was my fifth attempt to have a second lunch here. The other times, the bistro was not open during their posted hours for lunch. No big deal, as I was passing through each time. However, annoying because I was craving sushi. Shockingly, on a Monday with snow, they were open during the posted lunch hours. I loved my Windy Chili Roll on my first visit and was eager to try another. Hence, the need for a second visit. 1. This restaurant was COLD today! I was the only patron in a quiet, cold, and large restaurant. Odd. They should probably have offered free hot tea due to the cold! I didn’t order tea, as I remembered from my first visit that it costs close to 5.00 dollars! 2. Service was AWFUL. There was some yelling from the kitchen for a server when I arrived. She showed up in sweats and handed me several menus. She was unable to answer a question about one of the sushi rolls. When she reappeared with my food, she had changed to a black serving outfit. She never reappeared. A man came at the end of the meal with my check. No interest in how my meal was or if I wanted anything else. Odd. 3. Rolls were not as good as before. The Windy Chili Roll was OK this visit. Not amazing as before. The other roll with soft shell crab was not good at all. The soft shell crab was not tasty, probably frozen and poorly fried. Laden with oil. Yuck. The miso soup was probably reheated in the microwave. Lukewarm and lacking in flavor. Ick. Very disappointing lunch for a place that is in a challenging location. I would think better attention to detail would be warranted. Additionally, being open during the posted hours would be helpful for customers. Last visit.

My wife saw this place randomly and we’re always up for a sushi buffet! For 16.99 it didn’t seem as pricey as most we’ve been to. We went at 2 so it was fairly empty and a nice environment. The menu at first glance seemed a little small, especially for a buffet but it was quite varied. We started with gyoza, wild fire, calamari salad and spring rolls. All were excellent, especially the salad. The calamari was tender, flavorful and with the right amount of kick. I ordered another one it was so good. The wildfire also was excellent! Followed it off with sushi. Our favs were Godzilla and the Madison. The rolls were huge and so delicious! Service was great and quick. We’ve found our go to sushi fix, we will be back soon!

Hairy Mess. 1st hair found in my water — brown and curly like our waitress. I had asked her for a new water and said something was in it. She went to get a new water, but left the hairy water on our table and did not take it away until I had to ask her to a second time. 2nd hair found as short and black in my dragon roll in on the end of the shrimp tempura. 3rd hair found on the side of my water glass — short black with a bit of white on it — after it being refilled. Sushi was ok, but I’ve had better. I guess you get what you pay for — $ 16.95ACYE sushi special. I won’t be back.

Third time here — so it’s time to write a review. The service is very professional yet welcoming. It seems in keeping with the Asian culture, — not too forward, respectful, but eager to please and present well. I particularly enjoyed our server. He had such a poker face, but was really rather witty. My sister asked for a fork as he was serving the main meal. We all had managed fairly well with our appetizers, however, he quietly said, «no». My sister was in shock and thought he was serious, but he had the slightest hint of a smile and returned with a fork for each of us. That was priceless. The food is an adventure. I’ve tried a different bento box every time I’ve gone and was satisfied, with the variety and the portions. The rice seemed to be brown rice, so they are interested in providing healthy choices. The only thing that I wasn’t particularly crazy about was the pot stickers. I don’t eat pork, or beef for that matter, and even in the vegetarian box there seemed to be the pork pot sticker. The sauces added just the right additional flavor to the meal. The atmosphere is very nice. Everything is clean and seating is spacious. Plus, their prices are very reasonable. The one thing that surprises me about this restaurant is the fact that it is empty every time I have gone. There’s a fair amount of street parking, but it is just west of the main hub of other eateries. I don’t believe there are other Chinese restaurants to the east, so I don’t know why folks don’t come here to eat more. Oddly, some people may think it’s pricey and fancy,(the name is misleading along with the linen tablecloths, however very nice), but really it’s very humble. I hope more people will eat here. I would hate to see it go by the wayside like other restaurants who once upon a time were in the same location.
