Excellent food and service. Fresh ingredients. Highly recommend the panang noodles, shrimp clay pot, and bua hana spring rolls.

this is a really good spot for friends to have lunch. their prices are reasonable, their service is very friendly. the open window seating allows you to have a great view of downtown forest park.

I have never reviewed anything before. This is the worst food I’ve ever eaten hands down. They are using overcooked spaghetti noodles for their egg noodles. Not even sure what they wrapped the spring roll with! I think it was raw dumpling wrappers straight from Jewel. So so so so disgusting!

The worst food ever! The pot stickers tasted as if the fried in dirty sock water! I would never go back!

Disgusting sushi and chewy beef. Most of the meal was unedible and I had to throw it out. Skip this one.

Started off with crab Rangoon and potstickers for appetizers. They were brought tongue table mins short time and were hot. Very good.

I go here every one to two weeks for the sushi. The fish used is very fresh and the specialty rolls are great. The service from Staci is always attentive and she is very knowledgeable about the menu. There’s a special on specialty rolls on Wednesday which makes it hard to pass up.

We have enjoyed meals at this restaurant in the past, but not recently. Tonight we had a taste for Thai and ended up at Bua Hana. We started with veggie egg rolls and that was a mistake. The first one was still frozen in the middle. Did I stop and send them back? I should have but was hungry. Overall they were bland and greasy. When the waitress asked how they were I said they were frozen in the middle, bland and greasy. She returned later to say the chef said she as sorry. The entrees were much better. My husband had ginger beef with mushrooms, carrots, greens, hot peppers and onions. He enjoyed it. I ordered yellow curry with tofu. The dish was very rich although there were not many veggies in it. When we went to pay the bill we saw that we were charged for the egg rolls. A classier place that wanted us to come back would have dropped the charge.

My wife and I were excited to try a different restaurant in the oprf area. Sadly the food lacked flavor(pad khee mao) and my wife’s was soggy. We really wanted to like this food but sadly we will not eat here again.

When I came to this place few years ago I recall it wasn’t that great. Sushi was below average and all, but my husband and I decided to come here for a second try. This time they improved over few years! It was pretty quiet on a Saturday evening. My husband and I shared two rolls — alaskan and spicy scallop. Simple rolls and they are decent! I had the pad kee mao with tofu which was also decent. Husband ordered their curry basil fried rice which he enjoyed and finished. We started with the wakame seaweed salad. He found the salad a bit too salty. I thought it was full of flavor. haha. Service was decent. We had a decent time, and will come back the next time we want both Thai and Japanese! They even have ramen on the menu… which I look forward to try. Plenty of street parkings too.

I have no clue why this restaurant isn’t receiving at least four stars? The food is fresh and delicious. Also, their pan-Asian menu is a nice combination of Japanese and Thai. I would highly recommend the Dragonfly Sushi platter and the fried Thai rice with chicken. The staff is friendly, but the food does take a while to cook because there seems to be only one cook. In addition, there was only one waitress in the restaurant, which seemed really odd since it was busy. Nonetheless, Bua Hana offers great food and friendly service. Just be prepared to wait for your food.

Personally have not had their sushi; however, I have had their Thai dishes twice now. They are mediocre. .nothing too special. Service is a bit off here and there. Ambiance is good and has a lovely view of Madison. I hope they attempt to spice things up at Bua. Even if they just run a few specials, it might help bring people in.

Having tried a number of pan-Asian or fusion restaurants, I have realized one thing: if you are trying to do Thai, Chinese, Vietnamese and/or Japanese, chances are that the food will not be as good(from my experience,) as if you just went to a Thai place for Thai food, or Chinese for Chinese food, etc. It’s too bad really, I understand what they are trying to do here, but it just doesn’t do it for me. The Tom Kha soup was just okay, and I’ve had better at Thai restaurants just down the street. Similarly with the beef salad: here the beef had too many chili pepper seeds for my party. Having thought it just being an off night for beef salads, we gave them another try. Still too many chili pepper seeds and not enough salad for us. I had tried this place at least four times, and while I tried to like the place(the dining area was at least nice and cozy,) it’s convinced me that I am simply not a fan of pan-Asian or fusion cooking.
