Defiant Comics is a nice little modern comic shop. The staff is friendly. New comics are neatly displayed. Trades and Hardcovers are pretty comprehensive and well organized. There’s not a lot of extraneous stuff like toys or trading cards, but there are some if that’s what you’re looking for. If you don’t want to trek out to one of Chicago’s chain stores, this is a good alternative.

This is a great comic book shop. Whenever I come they are able to answer questions about what they have and when new comics are coming in. They have a great selection, including books for my kid (I take my daughter). The staff are really nice, will order whatever I need and make great recommendations. Very approachable, no pressure store for newbies or people who are just browsing. A great addition to madison street.

Defiant Comics is a great addition to the ever evolving Madison St. in Forest Park. Don and Brian are always pleasant and very helpful in finding what you need. They have a wide selection of comic books, toys, and much more. Also if you are looking for something they don’t currently have, they are always willing to get their hands on it for you! Defiant Comics also has a great spot for the kiddos to play while you browse, or even hang out. Tons of fun to be found and had at Defiant Comics!

This is hands down my favorite comic shop to go to and I’ve been to many around the Chicagoland area. This store rivals GrahamCracker Comics downtown in terms of variety and availability of new and relevant comics. They’re a smaller shop so naturally there selection is somewhat smaller and their collection of Omnibusses isn’t as large but they are by far a friendlier atmosphere. The owners know their comics and have offered me some great suggestions when I told them what I liked. They even have a section for the kids to play in! Come here and enjoy. Support small business!!!

New comics shop in Forest Park. Super clean, organized, and with a lot of selection. Extremely approachable owners that are very sweet. Prices are list, which is totally fair. They also have some rare stuff over by the checkout station if you’re interested in that kind of thing. They also sell some accessories and toys for that kind of comic fan. They have local events, too.
Forest Park so needed a place like this! Very glad they’re here.

When even a comic book virgin can find a bunch of cool reads, you know you’ve got a good thing going! I love Madison St in Forest Park and Defiant Comics is an awesome addition!
I guess I just didn’t realize how cool comics are. Defiant has a huge selection of comics that are all priced well under $ 5. There is an entire section of kids comics and even a little nook with a bunch of super hero toys for kids to play while parents browse. There are HUNDREDS of comics for teens/​adults! They even offer a weekly service where they will package your comic subscriptions so that you can just run into the store and grab your favorites without browsing. They also have hundreds of graphic novels and some really cool collector editions. You can order online too!
Next time I am there, I’m getting the Adventure Time (or is it Adventure Dog??) graphic novel!

I wish I could give this place more stars. It is everything that a comic book shop should be. Very open uncluttered and clean. Great selection of Trade Paperbacks and an amazing subscription service you will never miss an issue. Not to mention the most friendly and helpful staff you will ever find in a comic book store.
