‘Talk about an all-​in-​one store. Michael’s is a place where you can indulge your inner arts & crafts geek. You can find a beautiful and SAFE (battery operated) glowing, bedside LED candle. You can discover the perfect shade of paint to revive that old, ratty-​looking bookshelf. ‘Even create a
D-​I-​Y project, leaving you truly proud of the results, suddenly realizing that you DO actually have some «handyman skills» you might have been a bit intimidated to try out. Or, you can upgrade ho-​hum holiday decorations, ‘making your window displays the talk of the town. Perhaps you simply need an attractive bag/​gift wrapping option for a sentimental gift for someone special.
I shop at Michael’s for all of the above purposes. The photos I’m including with this post illustrate just a couple of the «upgrades» Michael’s has assisted me with regarding my home décor. The candle & oval wire sconce/​holder were purchased at M.‘s, at a very reasonable price, & now the Feng Shui of my home has, indeed, been altered positively (*or so I’m told). :)
The orchid-​wrapped branches in the brown vase were also purchased there, and can be beautifully lit by simply plugging in the vase. (*My camera didn’t capture the brilliance of the lit flowers with the flash, so I photographed it ‘un-​lit’). The luminous, turquoise-​colored fabric underneath my HD television box is also from Michael’s. It upgraded something as simple as a basic, electronics and TV stand into a colorful, elegant-​looking area (at least one that’s better than a bundle of cords, ‘tucked behind a flat screen TV stand-​and the color enhances my room colors beautifully).
Michael’s has a constantly evolving inventory, filled with creative crafting supplies as well as beautiful, finished items (such as the unique, rounded, bronze-​patina, hanging candle sconce-‘of which I posted a photo). M.‘s price points are definitely competitive. All you need to do is walk the aisles, view the copious amounts of inviting merchandise, and truly, the ONLY limits are your creativity and imagination. You can improve your home overall, turn your bedroom into a sacred and cozy space, bring a classy vibe to furniture, art projects, photo albums, and gift wrapping… or even create/​upgrade a bird bath (*IF that’s truly your ‘thing’. ‘No judgement-I’ve seen many a magnificent bird bath. It’s just not me). ;)
‘Bottom line, Michael’s delivers quality merchandise at a great price, and as a bonus, has just updated its return policy. You now have 6 months (it used to be 14 days) to have your receipt remain «valid», meaning a necessary return or a changed mind will NOT limit your ability to return or exchange an item (s). You can decide, in person, how an item fits along with your home design, match paint for your craft project, or simply decide that your talents may not fit the items you originally purchased, and still experience a hassle-​free return or exchange process. Now THAT’s a classy, legitimate, and ethical business model; and as a consumer, makes Michael’s my #1 store for virtually limitless décor items, crafts, home projects, and even holiday and event-​related items.
***Tip: M.‘s actually also has a HUGE wedding section, ‘complete with silk-​flowered hair pieces, lace cornered guest books, and garter-​shaped confetti!!!). ‘Pretty amazing and DEFINITELY creative. Add the friendly, knowledgable employees and a competitive pricing/​return policy, and Michael’s is a no-​brainer to be your NUMBER ONE selection as a comprehensive, creative, home/​artistic/​décor and event supplier. Shopping at Michael’s pretty much equals a lifestyle upgrade: it just depends on which area you want to begin with!

I brought an American flag in to frame, and Jerry decided he wanted to take on the project himself. The result? It is AWESOME!!! My husband’s grandfather’s flag now flies over our family room, and I’m so grateful for Jerry’s passion and meticulous hand. Thank you!

If you have something that needs framed, Ben is your guy. I went in because they were having a huge sale and of course everything I wanted to do was not on sale. Ben helped me to figure out how to do what I needed to do and at a very reasonable cost. He helped with mat color selection and it’s just stunning. Highly recommend.

The reason I’m giving this a two star instead of a one star is because I love the variety of floral items they carry. Otherwise I am always disappointed when I come into this store. They normally have extremely loud music, everything is very unorganized and poor customer service if you ever need help finding stuff they look at you like you are crazy. I have walked out of here so many times without buying things just because the staff makes me feel so horrible. The only reason I come here now is for anything floral, otherwise I would not recommend.

I walked into Michael’s looking for candle making supplies. I had never been in this store so I asked and associate where they were. I got a very short «Aisle 22» from her. Well unfortunately there are Aisle 22A and 22B but at least she narrowed it down. So I get to the very small candle making section and its completely empty aside from a few candle molds. I only go into these kinds of places if its something I need right away but I have to say next time I will order it online and wait for it to come to me. I won’t be back Michael’s.

This place had everything I needed as I was doing a project to frame some posters I have! Plus they always have sales so I got all the frames at buy one get one free prices!!! I barely had any interaction with the staff, so it is hard to say, but hey at least their open on Sundays!!! Which the place across the street wasn’t…

This review is for the custom framing service only, which I absolutely recommend. I have had a number of pieces framed here (worth waiting for the 50% deals which come along with some frequency) and I am always pleased with the outcome. The staff is knowledgable, friendly, helpful. Work is done very well and on time. A+

The price of their art supplies are so inflated that you need a coupon to buy anything. Go to Jerrys artarama instead. Jerry’s supplies are priced at normal retail.
However…this is an update to say that they have a large choice of jewelry supplies so I added a star for that. I shop for beads there when I’m in the mood for some new jewelry, but I always make sure they’re on sale as beadwork can end up being pricey at any store!

I walk into Michaels maybe twice a year. My recent visit is enough motivation to send me to Joanne Fabrics for all my crafting needs in the future. I asked an associate if she could help me look for an item, but before I could finish the sentence, her exact repsonse was «o umm, give me one second». Then walked off. I saw her 10 minutes later but she had already forgotten about helping me.
Another problem I have with this location is the shelving units they use to hold merchandise. I know it seems like a wierd complaint but it feels like im shopping in a mom and pop thrift store. They have different types of shelves throughout the store that do not match and for me it is highly noticeable. The entire store seems very dated and cramped.
I was assisted in finding items only by asking the supervisor. Many of the employees dont know where items are located and when they ask via radio, they get no repsonse.

I love Michael’s because I think they have really the best and innovative decorations for the holidays in town. I love their Halloween stuff. This year I went to the different stores and they had the same stuff-​literally! No repaints or slight variations, same exact thing. Boring! They got cute Christmas stuff too! My only complaint is that their Halloween houses and Christmas houses seem to be a bit steep, but they off set that when they go clearance, which is usually before the holiday they are themed for.
