Friendly service, tasty food, reasonably priced. Everything we hoped for in our first experience with this chain.

So I am a huge fan of Anthonys coal fire pizza… the food is always great. The problem is when the service is terrible, ultimately it leaves a bad taste. It was very busy, which is good. Always enjoy a bar atmosphere so we went right to the bar. Brittnay(the bar tender, who let us know that she doesn’t know much about the ft Lauderdale location bc she is from the pompano store) was nice to start by asking what we needed. She was very busy so not super friendly, but still ok until the end. We got the bill, signed it and she said that it was incorrect. So the new bill total was double the amount of the receipt she gave us; which is alright bc it’s what we ordered. But her response to us was, not ‘I’m sorry for handing u the wrong bill’ it was ‘I thought u were being helpful and handing over the other patrons bill’(?). although she did charge our credit card. So she quickly took back the bill reversed the charges and charged our cc again with the new total. I did clarify to her how this was not our error by saying how SHE handed us the bill but she just reiterated that it was wrong and we owed much more, FYI this did NOT increase her tip Again, the food was great! We took home the left overs, but unfortunately the poor service will make it difficult to go back. The original location by the airport has always been our favorite location and it is only 3 miles away. We know the food will be great, but great staff is always going to be the the attribute that will keep us coming back.

Great tasting Pizza Pies, with friendly and fast service. The inside has plenty of seating with a nice size bar area to eat with high back seats. Also, there are lots of TV’s around to root for your favorite sports team. We ordered two pies: the Fresh Mozzarella Sliced Tomato & Basil(No Sauce) And Meatballs & Ricotta Baby Meatballs both were Delicious! The only strange thing about this place is that they do not offer Oregano on the table as a the condiment. When I asked the server for the Oregano she told me «we do not offer that here» I thought Wow! this condiment is usually offered in New York City and New Jersey why not here? But I respect the owners decision to serve only fresh ingredients in his restaurants. I still love the pie made here and when we are ever in the area we will come back. Sorry we did not try their«Meatballs In The Pot» that was on the menu.

I love this pizza, the locations are kind of all different This is a specific taste So if you like the regular New York slice or if you like the Connecticut pie this might not be the place for you It is fresh and delicious and crispy The wing are very good but not your typical or wing I don’t like the meatballs anywhere I go and these are pretty good Don’t make this your fancy date night but definitely good coal fired pizza

Let me start off by saying that we didnt even get to eat our food… we left. As soon as we walked in it was a nightmare. Weird seating, sitting elbow to elbow next to strangers why im trying to share a meal with my family is awkward. The waitress was nice but couldnt really speak English so well. When she asked us for our drinks, she brought out bottled soda! They dont even have fountain drinks, which i think is a tad bit over the top. Even Benihana has fountain drinks. The most expensive restaurants in Fort Lauderdale have fountain drinks. When trying to order we asked about the wings, which are only done one way. When asked if they had hot sauce the waitress said and I quote«the only thing we have that is hot here is pepper flakes» That was it for us, we came for good wings and pizza and didnt even get a chance because around every corner at this place there is a let down that completely turns you off. Wont be going back, ever. and wont be recommending it to anyone. In fact, if i am ever asked about it, i would tell them to never go.

This was my first time at Anthony’s. Over a good pizza but I have a few critiques. First I ordered a large cheese sausage mushroom and onion pizza. The onions were Carmelized and that wasn’t on the menu — they were long and stringy and that made it hard to eat without pulling the whole piece of onion. Second — the pizza was a bit watery. The center was mushy and not crispy at all. I expect a nice crispy crust coming from a coal fire oven. Not sure if the tomato sauce was watery or where the expect moisture came from. The pizza itself and 120oz soda was $ 29. A bit pricey.

From start to finish, the whole experience is what I would call«relentless mediocrity». From the first impression, the staff seemed like they were all chirpy high school kids, overly friendly to compensate for lack of skill and finesse. The seating arrangement was inept. In a place where over half of the patrons are couples, the doubles tables were joined with another for a 4 place seating. This resulted in a two seat vacancy for a lot of tables. So they asked my wife and I to wait, in full view of over 6 pairs of empty seats. I asked the manager about this, who replied that«they had just opened and… murmur, murmur». So they seated us at a round table for eight. This was the beginning. The menu is confusing and offers very little choice. Having a two tiered pizza-one ordinary and the other with Buffalo!-is a poor format, in my opinion. On to the pizza: I don’t know why, but every time I hear the help refer to a pizza as a pie, it not only annoys me, but the pizza is of lower quality. Itza pizza, not a pie. The pizza menu has a quote by Anthony Bruno, Founder of Anthony’s, that states the dough is made fresh every day and all the ingredients are the best, or something like that. Well, this is untrue. The crust was hard, tasteless, lifeless, and exactly what you get with a supermarket frozen pizza, e.g. a Tombstone, which will be symbolic because this place is dead to me. And buried. The«kitchen» area is quiet small and very dark. There is no flour board, no shaping of the ball of dough. The kids working there look like they know nothing about the art. They are just assembly line workers. The pizza as structured here is just a widget. So the dough was dry and taste free. Now, I buy the dough at Publix and shape my crust at home. The dough is yeasty and elastic. When it starts to cook, you can smell the«fresh bread» scent of a yeasty dough. The dough will bubble a bit on the edges. When you bite into it right out of the oven, it is just like fresh bread-which is what it is. The pizza itself is dry and sucks the moisture out of your mouth. Taste and flavor NEED either water or fat to carry and transfer the flavor molecules to the tongue, palate and nose sensors in the way of aromatics. I, being a retired mechanical engineer, know this because I am an expert in this field, just as I am in judging women’s hair styles and attire(most American women have devolved to the egalitarian quasi-trash motif and tastelessness.) A rather incongruous and off-putting display is the stack of tomato sauce cans on the galley counter. Now why, from a proprietor’s side, would you advertise to your clientele that you use canned tomato sauce? «I’m too lazy to make my own from fresh ingredients?». The cheese used was indescript. No taste. There was no layer of tomato sauce under the pizza to give it some contrast, zip, and and pizzaz. Not even dried. I like the juiciness that a layer of herbed tomato sauce provides. I give no quarter on this EXCEPT for pizzas in Italy, where the cheese is maravilloso and provides fluid taste transfer and a piquant delight for the taste buds, sans tomato sauce. They seem to be the only ones who can pull it off. Bottom line: a Dominos pizza would have been superior, I am SURE. I was in a 7 – 11 convenience store and saw the pre-manufactured pizza under the heat lamp by the cashier, and it was beautiful compared to Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza. Last item. In their location on South Federal in Ft. Lauderdale, I once noticed a number of pizzas backed up, waiting to go into the oven, which was full. Our pizza took over 45 minutes to arrive that night. I asked the manager if he thought his oven was too small. He replied that it was, and was undersized, a design oversight. Well, guess what. the oven at this location is the same size and has more seating. The music was insipid, generic sports bar. One song was nothing more than a simulated emergency room screaming by a female. So it isn’t ciao, its arrivaderci.

Not the best pizza I’ve had but definitely unique. This location is right across from a Trader Joe’s which is a plus for me cause it’s a quick place to grab a bite if I’m hungry or if there’s a wait, I can just walk across the parking lot and explore to pass the time. The hostess was very nice but told us 10 – 15 minutes. We went back before the 15 minutes was up but saw that a table that came in behind us got seated. Then she asked if we wanted to sit outside, which had been empty since we arrived so we could’ve avoided waiting and went directly for that. Not a big deal but would’ve liked to have that option presented up front. The food itself was a hit and miss. We ordered a side of meatballs. It was very good with the ricotta and sauce on the side instead of mixed together. We had wings, which were cooked very uniquely with caramelized onions on too. Delicious! It’s apparently baked then grilled? It was crispy skin on the outside and tender on the inside. The sauce was good too. The pizza we got was interesting. It was the roasted cauliflower. The mozzarella cheese added flavor and there was pepper on top but overall the pizza wasn’t a burst of flavor for me. It was cooked nice and crispy on the crust but it didn’t blow me away.
