For boaters in transit or in need of a free anchorage, Lake Sylvia is a hidden gem unknown to most except the locals. For everything else there is either a 24 hour limit, a fee or both. Even the use of a buoy for the night at the city’s Las Olas marina will cost you $ 20. A big plus also is that in the event of inclement weather, Lake Sylvia is also one of the areas more protected from the elements. As Lake Sylvia is surrounded by waterfront homes, you can’t access by land and there are no boat ramps or dinghy stations. However, for a nice secure, safe anchorage or even to just anchor and party, Lake Sylvia is about as good as it gets.
