Las Orquideas Restaurant

I have eaten here about 6 times pretty decent food. But tonight I ordered the skirt steak. Couldn’t chew it at all. I told the waitress that it was really bad couldn’t eat it at all. Waitress said to bad and walked away lol. Lol she could barely speak English … Won’t be going back.

First time here Fernando the owner came to our table and was extremely attentive and considerate. We stopped by as we are nearby in coral ridge. Excellent food and will definitely return! We are expecting a baby and he gave us a complimentary guava desert on the house! Thank you!

Terrible service! Not even the least bit friendly. Never come at night if you can come during the day time when the servers are much better.
The food is delicious but hate unfriendly service. Giving Colombian people a bad name but the food is great.

I love this place, we are visiting from California and I can honestly say this is the best Colombian restaurant so far.
The staff members are very friendly and very helpful.
The food is amazing and very addictive lol.

Good food and ok service. I was starving and my buddy that was traveling with me was being picky, I forced the debate to get something fast and easy. Glad I did, the meat was good (not great) but the side dishes were out of this world. The service wasn’t fast and they didn’t talk a lot but it was good so 3 stars from me

I agree with Celibi’s review. I started going about 3 years ago. Then after 2 yrs going, the service went down and they only served me when it was slow. I was ignored if by myself. I stopped going for 9 months and tried it again. Got «lucky» that the owner was there having bkfst. He spoke to me and I told him why I had stopped going. He had changed the staff of servers. He called the «manager» over and told them about my complaint. I continued to go, but always weekday mornings and always slow. This last sunday 11÷8÷15, I went and it was somewhat busy, but the middle section next to the left side of cashier was all empty of 2 seat tables. I took one (no one else was there). There were 2 floor servers, young lady and young guy that had served me before and the lady in the cashier cage. She said hello, but the 2 floor servers ignored me. Then a whole group of people came in, including 1×2 seats and 2×3 seats. The 2x seat was sat one table away from me and the 3 seats behind me. The lady and guy servers then proceeded to go to them for water, coffee and orders but never recognized me or even looked my way!!! I could’ve reached out and touched them, that’s how close I was!!! This place is small enough that you can view the whole place and each table from the front door. I waited, but after I saw them running by my area and NEVER even looked at my table. I got up and left. The guy server just walked right by me. I thought that the owner really was interested in the customer service in this place, but obviously not. I always order my bkfst and a tamale to go, so they lost 2 orders and will NEVER go back again. It can’t be a coincidence that with a totally different staff, the same thing happens. Worse of all, how they treat repeat customers so they can attend to bigger tables and guess what they think will be a bigger tip.

I use to love this place, I’m not sure what happened. The food flavor is ok but the service sucks. We use to eat here alot especially on Sunday because they have this soup that really liked. But the other day I went with my little cousin and kids for lunch on a week day. He got something which came with sweet plantians. The server brought the food to our table and my cousin didn’t realized that it came with sweet plantian which he hates. So we called our server and asked if he get a different side? Her answer was ridiculous «it already came out of the kitchen you can’t change» she when on «I can sell you a new side but you have to pay». I was shocked I never heard of such rule. So we paid for the different side and throw the sweet plantians way. Btw the quality of the food is not what it use to be :(

Food was ok. However the coffee was horrible. We mentioned to the attendant and they did not do anything to find out why the coffee was tasting so bad. It tastes like old coffee.

Came by before a concert. The food is really good HOWEVER come with extra time on your hands because it took the wait staff (emphasis on the word wait) took ten minute to take our order or come to the table. There were four people at the counter area who knew we were there and just chatted, ate and then finally the unsmiling waitress took our order. They are usually on the money here but service today wasn’t good. The food is still good though so I will come back and call this one a fluke…

Stopped in for a couple of appetizers and was very satisfied. The service was good and they were very friendly which makes it even more inviting.

Good, clean place with awesome food. Service is also quick and courteous. Wish the music wasn’t so loud (and clubby) but I guess it’s a Latin thing.
Only complaint is that the waiter doesn’t come back to check on you. Almost had to grab her by the arm after 15 minutes to bring me the check.

Stopped in for a quick bite with some coworkers when we got stranded at the Ft Lauderdale Executive airport.
Nice and clean place, service was good and friendly.

From the waitress’ welcoming smile to the tasty café con leche to my Calentado and Huevos Pericos this place is awesome! Very tasty and filling, a great reminder of my days in Bogota. Love it here!

Being a Colombian myself, I can say when Colombian food is good and this restaurant cooked delicious food! It was up to my grandmas standards. My husband had a Bandeja Paisa, which has rice, steak, fried egg, fried pork rind, avocado, sweet plantains, and beans. Yes, it’s a lot of food, so prepare to go into a food coma. The dish was great, especially the beans. They were well done and the flavor was on point. I had sopa de Mondogo (beef cow tripe soup). It takes a special hand to know how to cook tripe and Las Orquidas did a great job cooking the tripe. Before coming here I was craving this soup and having it, cured my craving. Very happy to say the least with no complaints to say.
They also have live music Friday’s and Saturday’s playing traditional Colombian boleros. Very lovely.
Las Orquidas is also a bakery and make traditional Colombian goods for breakfast. I haven’t tried the breads yet, but I will given our dinner was delicious.
And for the reasons above, I rate this restaurant 5 stars!

Dora it seme like there are too many Colombian restaurant option? This place will simplify things for you. The best service, best food, no wait and great location. Tough to improve on Las Orquideas. My favorite is Huevos pericos after a bike ride with an Arepa con choclo. Try the lulo, best juice you have never tried

Truly wonderfully and pleasantly surprised. This place scares me in that I love this food so much it’s going to constantly tempt me every time I drive past it.
Bandeja Montanera for lunch. So perfect. It’s got chicharron (pork belly still on the skin it came from) and a slice of perfect steak with an easy egg on top. Nice rice and beans and half of a fresh avocado. plus plantains. That’s a sweet lunch.
Somewhat chaotic during the busy lunch rush, which is a good thing with the staff in perpetual motion, service is brisk and they deserve your patience. The owner checked in on me twice. I left happy and impressed and intend to mix this spot into my regular rotation. It gives me tremendous joy to have such a top rate experience at a privately owned local restaurant.

Solid Columbian breakfast — everything we ordered was hot, tasty, authentic, and well made. Super yum! Café con leche was smooth and creamy and ultra flavorful. Breakfast comes with coffee and crispy arepa with cheese. We will be back!

Nice authentic Colombian restaurant and bakery. The food is tasty, the décor is modern and nice. My rating is solely on take-​out orders, I have tried the Bandeja steak which consists of chicharron (crispy pork skin), a thin steak, rice, beans, avocado, plantains, and a fried egg — it was very good but the steak was too thin for my preference. I have also tried the empanadas, the Pandebono (cheese bread), and chicken criolla which is seasoned chicken breast served with rice, beans, salad and plantains.
The food is good, the menu is small. I’ve had better Colombian, if you are in the area definitely check it out but don’t go out of your way.

Ok he probado muchos restaurantes Colombianos pero ninguno como este, primero empezemos por los appetizers empanadas probe las dos de pollo y de carne mi favorita la de pollo (pero las dos estuvieron geniales) pedimos arepas y una bandeja paisa el chicharron estaba cocinado a la perfeccion crujiente y jugoso. Los sabados por la tarde tienen musica en vivo de las cinco a las siete lo que hace una experiencia mas plesentera. El servicio fie excelente y la comida fue servida rapidamente, sin embargo todo esta fresco. Le doy cinco estrellas a este lugar y sin duda alguna uno de mis lugares favoritos en Ft Lauderdale
