One of my favorite places to eat lunch! Their kabobs and falafel are amazing! It’s a bit expensive but well worth it

Great food and good people! Fries are a must. Got the shawarma… awesome, falafel… awesome. Went to a similar restaurant across the street the week prior and I have to say, this place wins hands down.

Good food thought it was a Greek place turned out not to be. Food was great had some sort of lamb and chicken pita filled with hummus and meat salad and some sort of garlic sauce food was excellent

One of the best middle eastern places in South Florida, for sure. The pita pockets, falafel and Shwarma is especially tasty– the ingredients are fresh and flavorful. Prices are fair for the portion size for the Sandwiches(less fair for the platters) — the guys behind the counter are super friendly and will explain any side or ingredients you don’t recognize. Without a doubt this is a hangout for orthodox Jews and Israeli peeps in the area, and they know what’s up when it comes to the authentic tastes and flavors of Israel. I frequent Pita Plus on the regular, and I’ve never been disappointed in my choice. As a plus, the service moves pretty quick so long lines don’t last long, they move people through quickly. Don’t expect the customer service of a fancy hotel, that’s really not the idea here– order and feast!

So, You’re looking for a regular lunch spot that’s healthy, affordable and something a little… different? Check out Pita Plus on Stirling Road. It’s nestled in a strip of delicious Kosher Delis, so you’re getting the Real Israeli Food Experience, no imitations. Plenty of **Vegetarian options, Authentic green-on-the-inside Falafel and Lamb Shawarma tempting enough to break my Veganism(yes, really). No skimping here, each of the sides and topping are delicious in their own right — roasted eggplant is very tricky to perfect and they’ve got it down pat, not too smoky not too tart. Hummus has a perfect balance of garlic and lemon tastes, all of their sandwiches have a healthy blend of ingredients.

This place is the best for falafel pitas, or just about any kosher Israeli food. It has something for everyone. Even their burgers and fries are good. They make every thing fresh and cook it to order so it takes a few minutes but it’s worth the wait. The cooks are hot and nice guys too. Everything you order they ask how you want it. Everyone likes there pitas layered a certain way. The place is always busy because it’s the best in town!

Granted this place is packed for lunch, but my meal was less than stellar. I had the chicken shawarma plate. The sides were hummus, eggplant, and a cucumber salad. The eggplant was tasty but the hummus and salad were very bland. The chicken was dry and had a strange off putting taste to it. The gentlemen cooking were very friendly but the woman cashier was grumpy and not friendly at all. I guess the appeal is that this restaurant is Kosher. If I try them again, I’ll get the falafel.

I’ve never had a proper falafel sandwich, so my boyfriend took me to the original, best falafel spot in Florida, Pita Plus. The restaurant was super clean, everyone was friendly and fast. The food was fresh and falafel’s were made to order. I had everything in my falafel, spicy, hummus, tabouli, salad, tahini. I probably won’t eat for 3 days I’m so stuffed. Haha. Apparently the French fries are the best, didn’t get to try, but I will next time!

Was in Ft. Lauderdale for work and ate lunch 3 days at Pita Plus. Everything is fresh, authentic, and flavorful. Shawarma was the best of the meals. Baklava was delicious. There will be a line for placing your order but it moves quickly.

Service was great… One of the guys gave me a good amount of Shawarma to try when I asked what meat it was. He also gave me a falafel to try! The falafel was the best I’ve had so far in S. FL but I wasn’t too impressed with the Steak Pita I ordered or the Grape Leaves. The steak had quite a bit of fat on it, so it made it hard & a mess to eat. The tzatziki sauce was not very flavorful and some of the grape leaves tasted a bit off… I would stop in for the falafel again but that’s about it, unfortunately.

Wanted to stop by here and take my order to go. Luckily I did as this place was packed. This was on a Friday night around 8:30pm. Ordered the Pita Plus Mix and had EVERYTHING filled into the pita as well as an extra order of Shawarma plate. At first I didn’t understand what the guy behind the counter asked me, but later i did if I wanted the meat off the grill instead of inside the pita bread for my Shawarma plate. Going this route, the pitas were put on the side. The guy even gave me a taste of the falafel he just took off the fryer. That thing was delicious!!! I told the guy that it was my first time there and he said 4 words–«You’re gonna like it!» When I took my dinner back to my place, I couldn’t wait to dig in. The smell of the flavors were coming through the bag. I was trying to figure out the blends of spices that they put into the meat because it was so damn delicious. The flavor tasted like 5 spice or some other type of spice, but man was it great!!! I’m going back for some of that falafel. I try to avoid that as much since other falafels I’ve tasted in the past were either burnt and tasteless. Not this one! The reason why I didn’t give this place a full 5 star review was because of the flies I saw buzzing around the salad bar which had the pickled condiments. Hopefully they’ll find a better way to cover that up otherwise the food is great!

Made this my last stop before leaving Miami out of FLL, and it was a nice way to punctuate a short vacation. A couple of days prior I had been to the similarly themed Pita Loca in SoBe, and Pita Plus was incomparably better(yeah, I realize that’s an oxymoron…). Got a chicken shish kebab pita(~9.50), and everything about it was great. The bread was fresh and fluffy, the chicken was tender and well seasoned, and the various accompanying salads and spreads were delicious. All that + superb service = 5*.

Have you ever wanted to try«Israeli» food? Did you ever wonder what a typical«Israeli» lunch is like? Well look no further then Pita Plus and check«Israeli» lunch off of your foodie bucket list. Pita Plus is as close as going to Israel and getting an authentic Israeli lunch food experience that you are going to get without actually traveling there. The menu at Pita Plus is your standard Israeli lunch spot fare(basically the equivalent of a sub/sandwich spot in American lunch fare), but it is also home to the most authentic Israeli shawarma outside of Israel and in the South Florida area. As with eating a new cuisine and going to a very authentic eatery, you are also going to have a cultural experience as well. Follow my pro tips and take in the experience! HOWTODOANISRAELILUNCH101(told by an American who has eaten many Israeli lunches): 1. STANDONLINE: Do not sit down at a table, Israelis invented the fast casual concept. 2. KNOWWHATYOU’REGOINGTOORDERBYTHETIMEYOUREACHTHECOUNTER: Israelis aren’t exactly known for their patience and when it’s your turn to order, you better be able to be confident and able to order right away. 3. HOWTOORDER: Step 1: Choose a «Main/Protein» — Shawarma: If you love meat, go for the shawarma(meat slow cooked on a spit and seasoned to middle eastern spice perfection). — Chicken: If you are trying to be on the healthier side — Schnitzel: If you have a chicken tender obsession — Falafel: If you are vegetarian(seasoned chickpeas that are fried and delicious) Step 2: Choose a «Bread» — Pita: It’s the healthier option and they also have a whole wheat pita option but you haven’t had Israeli lunch until you’ve had its much tastier cousin«laffa». — Laffa:(la-faah) is a much softer and tastier bread almost like a large fluffy wrap. Once you’ve had laffa, you won’t eat pita again. Step 3: Choose«Toppings» — Hummus(recommended because it binds the meat together) — Green Skhug(skooo-gggg): If you like spicy, add this. — «Salad»: Tomatoes and cucumber — Tabbouleh: Parsely, tomato, cucumber, onion, lemon juice — Eggplant — Red Cabbage — Green Cabbage — Tahini(toasted sesame seed spread and ingredient in hummus, «Israeli mayo», recommended to bring the flavors together) Pro tip: If you are feeling like you want to get the ultra Israeli lunch experience, order a side of «chips» aka fries. Step 4: Drinks — Mango Juice(If you want to go super authentic, get the mango juice) — Coke products and water, Israeli’s drink a lot of coke. 4. PAY: Cash and Credit Accepted 5. FIND A TABLE: Open seating. Place your tray down on your table. 6. GOTOTHEISRAELISALADBAR:(this is included in your meal, all you can eat, my favorite) Grab little paper boats and fill them with all of the salads and bring them back to your table. — Pickles: Israeli pickles are a little more salty and sour. I can eat them all day long… — Pickled Cabbage and Carrots: This is my favorite salad. — Pickled Turnips: Not my favorite but very authentic — Sauerkraut — Carrots THINGSTOKNOWBEFOREYOUGO #CULTURELESSON 1. THEFOODISKOSHER: What does that mean? Well for starters, there will not be any cheese/dairy available to top your food with(excellent for your lactose free friends). The food is flavored so nicely that you won’t even miss you American ways of needing to top everything with cheese. The meat has been cleaned very well and only certain«clean» animal parts have been used. In addition, your food has been blessed. Amen! Take in the holy experience. You will pay a slight increase for this kind of service to your meat and food due to its«quality». 2. CLOSEDONSATURDAYS: To observe the sabbath. They are open on Sunday’s! They are also closed on Jewish holidays as well. 3. THESINKOUTSIDETHERESTROOM: You will see a sink with religious people washing their hands before the meal, this is not a public sink for after using the restroom. If you get to see it when you are there, its a pretty cool experience. 4. WHATAREALLOFTHESEHATS???: You may see some men wearing a large black hat and/or a smaller looking circular covering, yarmulke(ya-meh-ca), and these coverings are worn to respect god while eating. 5. DECOR/WALL PHOTOS: The walls are covered with canvas photos of iconic Israel destinations, Downtown Israel, Tel Aviv Beach, Jerusalem Souk(shook) which is an outdoor market, The Tel Aviv Port/Namal(na-mall), and Eliat(eee-lot) beach aka Israeli Cancun. Taste Israel. Eat Pita Plus. Savor Shawarma.

Update: There is no way I could leave this review at 3.5, as I continued to come back about 5 times. That means something. My most recent adventures have not been hampered by over-saltiness. Either they toned it down a notch, or my ordering the Tahini on the side made the difference. In any case, this place is definitely yum. 4.5 stars all day. ~~~~~ After reading Unilocal reviews, I wanted to absolutely love this place and still want to. This place serves exactly what I have been searching for in south Florida, yet it falls a little short of everything I hoped and dreamed about. This is a solid 3.5 and borderline 4 stars, but I can’t help but point out how salty the food is. When I came here 2 days ago I was so excited! Real shawarma! I ordered a shawarma pita with tahini sauce and a side of falafel, and was salivating all the way to my table as I gazed upon the sheer size of my overly stuffed pita just brimming to the edge with meat. I took a bite and it was delicious! I began to formulate my Unilocal review in my head about how I found the holy grail of shawarma, but then after a few more bites: salt lake city. I was so determined to like this place that I returned the next day! This time I ordered the shawarma plate with all the fixings, but this time I had my tahini sauce on the side.(Let me suggest that if you haven’t had this type of food before, try all the sides that they offer you. You will not be disappointed.) The sauce on the side helped some, and my food was more enjoyable, yet I still left feeling dehydrated. Another tip: the portions are massive therefore the pricey prices are warranted, but keep in mind it may be best to share your samplings with a pal.

Such good falafel! This place doesn’t look like much and it’s not in the best area but it’s very authentic. I ordered the falafel pita with all the toppings. Each one was very good and their spicy sauce was great. The pita was made so you don’t get a bite of toppings and a bite of falafel. In other words, it was evenly placed throughout the falafel. The french fries were good too and it was a massive amount. They also have a little side bar with all sorts of pickled vegetables.

I’ve been coming to Pita Plus it seems forever– I’ve never been disappointed with the service or the food. Whenever I come in, it is all smiles, and of course, «What would you like?» The place is always clean– it is Glatt Kosher and a separate sink is provided in the front for hand washing– Most recently, every time I mention to someone that I am cooking up baby #2 they inevitably ask me if I have a craving for pickles. Now– I have to say that with my first, all I wanted was grilled cheese or mac n cheese, but this time around, Yes, pickles it is– and not just any pickles– they have to be the sour type that they serve at Pita Plus! Obviously, when at Pita Plus one cannot just eat pickles(they are complimentary with your meal). The first time the pickle craving hit was a Friday afternoon. I had a half day at work, and rushed over to Pita Plus– I really wanted shawarma in a pita, I was so excited — I could even taste the savory meat before I got in the door– I was thwarted by the gentleman behind the counter– he was extremely nice about it, but all the same, I had arrived at the establishment too late on a Friday and all the blocks of meat had been put away. So. note to self(and everyone else) — If you want shawarma on a Friday, you must come a few hours before closing time — otherwise you will be out of luck — as I was. With shawarma 86 from the menu, I ordered a falafel(a deep-fried ball or patty made from ground chickpeas, fava beans, or both) pita for myself and a grilled chicken pita for the hubs. All of the salads are fresh and delicious. Don’t be afraid to add some eggplant into your pita along with the humus and tahini sauce! The hubs likes it spicy– so I always have them put some harif(hot sauce — green chiles or jalapeños with other spices). I took them to go. Both sandwiches were delicious.

If you are Israeli, you will be right at home in Pita Plus. One of the best shawarma places in South Florida, it is also one of the busiest. If you are not Israeli, fear not as they do speak English, I’d just recommend coming in one of the less busy times to better familiarize yourself with the menu and the toppings options. Whether fair or not, if they are busy they will not have much patience in explaining the menu items. First rule to remember is that this is a kosher restaurant. This means they are closed every Friday afternoon and all day Saturday. They do not mix dairy with meat. If it is your fist time, walk in and get in line to the left side of the kitchen. The menu is on the wall in front of you. There are many different choices, however the most popular item is the shawarma pita, which is meat cooked on a spit, warmed in a sautee pan and put into a pita with a variety of cold toppings you can choose from. If you’d like to try it traditional, just ask for everything on it and specify if you like spicy or not. They will know what to put and it’s delicious. My favorite is to have just salad(the toppings) on laffa(taboon bread — larger, thicker pita). It costs a bit extra and ends up being a much larger sandwich, but I like the taste of the laffa better and don’t need meat in my sandwich since the salad options are so good. The kibbe are also amazing here with the tahini sauce. If you are dining in, after ordering you can choose your drinks and pay for your order. Choose a table and go up to the counter to get your order when ready. You can use this time to select some pickled vegetables to accompany your meal from the left side of the kitchen, as well. We adore this little restaurant and have tried so many others like it in South Florida, but so far nothing is as authentic or reasonably priced. Kosher food tends to be very expensive, but I find the prices here to be fair.

Heard about this local spot and finally gave it a try for lunch recently. The counter was very busy with orders flying left & right but one of the staff was nice enough to let me sample some of the shawarma meat during the hectic lunch rush-it was VERY tasty so i ordered the shawarma pita sandwich stuffed to the brim! You can also add from a selection of fresh ingredients like cucumber & tomato salad, hummus, tahini, pickled veggies etc. It was big enough for my husband and I to share and absolutely delicious. Now I know why there were so many people from all cultures waiting for their food at the lunch counter! We’ll be back for sure.
