This was my favorite go to spot I’ve sent many friends and family here For over 20 years I’m sorry to say it’s just not Worth the trip anymore The meats are served fattier than in the past(actually so bad I have to pull pieces off) The prices now are like Ny pricing though sandwiches are certainly not huge like ny I can actually eat two of these but won’t as the fat is nasty ! The tuna and chicken salad are good But you end up with a «wish sandwich» I wish they would actually put more between the bread especially for the Money they charge Well I’m not the only person who feels this way as the line to order used to be huge No more Sad to see them chimp their sandwiches And charge more as this place was one of a kind Larry is truly missed! Update went back couple times I just can’t understand the pricing For the quantity Try Guidos 2 miles away a $ 10 chicken salad sandwich is over stuffed and his homemade roast beef sub same $ 10 you feel full and not like you paid for a 3 course dinner If you want to change high stuff the fucking sandwich Don’t say you do! Look at the picture I posted from Guidos That’s only ½ of the $ 10 sandwich

What a find down the street from my dentist! Oh la la, what better way to express self-satisfaction after a brutal teeth cleaning then sinking those whitened puppies into a smooshy potato knish?! Heaven on earth! They offer sandwiches in big and supersize, I opted for plain old«big» which is still have a pound of meat. Keeping the eastern European mode of fare I opted for rare roast beef on pumpernickel — mmmm off the chain huge and so delicious. You can’t get roast beef like this from boars head or even some good specialty sub shops — this is the real deal and the cheddar cheese slices might have just been shipped in from Wisconsin or perhaps even merry olde England that very morn; so sharp and piquant with the roast beef, the almost meaty pungent pumpernickel and a hint of mayo cum horseradish. Even more encouraging(yes, and no — they have herring, they have matzo ball soup, they have rubens, they have chicken liver, yadda yadda) — they deliver! You can expect to hear from me soon!

I went here with high hopes after seeing the review average. We were a bit taken aback by the price of the sandwiches, especially considering the competition, but we were already there, so decided to go with it. If it was as good as the reviews sounded, it might nearly be worth it. The sandwiches are listed as «overstuffed.» I would go with adequately stuffed. While they look big in the photos, all of the meat is piled up in the center. By the time you spread it over the bread, it’s an average amount, certainly not up to the standards of NY delis like Stage. The rye bread was better than average in flavor. The meat was okay, but a bit light on taste and on the fatty side. If you want«extra lean,» you have to pay an extra $ 1 on top of the already $ 12.50 sandwich. The pickle was dreadful, flaccid and very little dill. One bite and we were both done. While normally this would be a 3 star review for the food, there are two things that took it down a notch. This was an $ 8 sandwich and… there was a hair in my sandwich. Yup, a hair(which I didn’t find until I was almost finished), will always cost at least a star.

How sad. I ate here over 8 years ago and the food was fabulous! ! Having eaten at The Stage Deli and Carnegie Deli in NYC I have pretty high expectations and I was delighted with the quality. Recently I ate a roast beef sandwich and pastrami and was so disappointed. The bread was not as fresh, the meat was dry and flavorless and the pickle was not a rally dill pickle. On top of everything their prices are exorbitant. This has become more of a tourist trap or for people who have never been to a real Jewish deli. I will not be eating here again.

Wow, a nice Jewish deli for this nice Jewish boy. Smoked fish platters are enormous, everything was fresh. The corned beef hash is homemade and wonderful. For Passover we ordered take out from there as well: maztoh ball soup was oy to die for! Chopped liver was amazing. Those two items alone were a meal! YUM. I love it.

Absolutely delicious! I ordered the New Yorker and highly recommend it. I am from New York and it is hard for me to find a good deli in South Florida. This spot has my highest recommendation!

The best corned beef sandwich anywhere. The freshest rye bread. Good turkey sandwich too. I’m crazy about this place !

Overpriced and tastes terrible. I literally threw away my food because it was inedible. Their food tastes like they never clean their cooking supplies and they don’t use baking soda in their fridge

The staff and service were tremendous and this place brought me back to Katz’s Deli in NYC on Houston Street. Similar system of ordering. Best potato latkes I’ve had in S. Florida, and I’ve tried almost everywhere. All of their items are very traditional and like I remember from childhood when deli’s were so much better. Pomperdale’s has restored my faith in a real home-style old fashioned but very cool deli. It’s clean, not far from the beach. Get some latkes to go!!! Sorry Stacey C… nothing bland about this place. And Robert, even Katz’s in NYC charges more for the sandwiches you’re referencing. It’s a small place so there’s no room to bake their own bread, but you liked their choice of their bread purveyor. Do all classy French restaurants bake their own baguettes? This is an absolute must try! You won’t be sorry.

I’m from up north and every time I’m in the area I have to stop here for a real taste of NY. This time it was a corned beef omelette(not corned beef hash, real sliced corned beef), a sour pickle and well done French fries(which most places can’t get right, but Pomperdale always does). Everything my family has had here has been great. There’s also a fun NY vibe among the staff. Put this on your must-taste list.

I’ve had five sandwiches from this place… in the past two days. Really a fantastic find. The Reuben is out of this world, the pastrami is some of the best I’ve ever had, and the coleslaw is delicious. Lunch rush can be a tight squeeze in this small place, but they move everyone through really quickly. Can’t go wrong with the soups either.

Went to lunch here with the wife today. I’ve waited to review this place because I wanted to be as fair as possible. To be honest, I have been here 3 times now and only today have I been sure I could fairly review this take out deli with seating for those who want to use plastic ware and be served soup in to go containers? To start, I will say they are very expensive($ 24/lb. for deli meats) so expectations are pretty high. My wife and I are foodies so a lot can be overcome if the food is where it should be for a New York style deli. The matzo ball soup was hot and as good as most others in the S. Florida area. Pomperdale does not make their own rye bread, but it’s very good. My wife ordered breakfast with corned beef hash and poached eggs. The eggs were poached a bit over, but were good. The corned beef hash was very fatty and we found ourselves pulling out overly fatty pieces. Overall the breakfast was good but not sensational and we wouldn’t recommend the hash. Go with another option if you must. I ordered a corned beef sandwich(just over $ 12.50) this trip because last time in I ordered lean pastrami(lean is a buck extra) and it wasn’t lean? Again I say the rye is very good so it helps everything. My corned beef was a bit dry as if it was cut in advance? The edges where the dryness was gave me that impression. The corned beef otherwise was good. The little plastic cup of cole slaw was ok but not great. We had our son coming over to watch football, so I wanted to get some stuff to go but after finding out that the deli meats were $ 24 Lb. and sandwiches were $ 12.50 I went with two sandwiches to go. Since I never tried the brisket I got a brisket on rye and a corned beef. The brisket was so fatty I had to take it all off the bread and trim it down but will include a picture of what I found when I unwrapped the sandwich. It is somewhat consistent with my previous pastrami experience and the wife’s corned beef hash. In conclusion: Pomperdale deli is a take out deli where you can get your food and sit at a table. They are too expensive for the very fatty meats they serve. It takes a real lack of concern to put brisket that looks like my picture, on a sandwich and serve it to a customer? The flavors are reasonably good because the products are of good quality.(National deli meats) if they would trim properly, and take a bit more time on their own quality control before serving fat to a customer, they could be much better. I believe they get away with this practice because there are so few NY style deli’s around. You would have to go to Plantation to Two J’s, or to Strathmore Bagels and Deli in Wellington. The later being the best NY Style deli within an hour(in my opinion). Flakowitz in Boynton Beach is another possibility. Let me say that everyone at Pomperdale is very nice but you definitely get the feeling that this expensive place is a bit put together. What I mean is, they don’t make the bread, they don’t prepare their own corned beef or pastrami, they just put it together. There’s why it’s so expensive for a take out place. The salads are bland so putting all of this together from three visits over about a year I’m giving them 2 maybe 2.5 stars. A bit more care when trimming meats and you could be 3 stars. The good folks giving better reviews must be judging something I haven’t tried.

Yummy! Visited around 12:30 pm on Memorial Day. Place was steady but not packed. You can eat in or take out. We each ordered an omelette(I ordered the Mexican with salsa and he ordered the Lox omelette) and both came out to us pretty quickly. I decided on tomato and wheat bread as my sides and he ordered a bagel and the potatoes. Everything was fresh and tasted great. The coffee and other drinks are self serve(located at the back of the store). There are some interesting sandwiches on the menu that I would like to try as well. The do deliver within a 5 mile radius if you want to opt for delivery. Also it’s located on the north side of the road in a strip mall west of the bridge incase you have trouble finding it.(Same center as Umberto’s). I will be back for sure!

A NY Style Deli order at the counter call your name pick up and sit down and one of the community tables in this Narrow restaurant just over the bridge from the Beach on Commercial Blvd in Fort Lauderdale. Choose your Beverage from the Case in the back as well as aside from ordering at the counter this is pretty much self Service. Quality of foods here are excellent from the home made Roast Beef to the over stuffed Pastrami /Corned Beef & deli type sandwiches to all their sides everything is really tasty fresh and delicious. Rye bread was exceptionally fresh as well. Nice group of people in the place very helpful and never an issue. Knocks off a bit pricey no matter how you look at it. Pastrami Sand, Kinish & Dr. Browns $ 21.00 Also Was expecting a Cony Island Kinish as advertised but received a large round one. Don’t get me wrong this was very good with fresh real stuffed potatoes and onions it simply wasn’t what I was expecting. Visited twice this week and all the sandwiches were excellent both times. Breakfast to go bagels were simply OK. As far as Deli’s go this ranks up there at the top.

*Order at cash register *To go, or take a table *Be very specific when ordering & ask them to repeat your order back to you(sometimes they get the order wrong) *Check your order carefully before you pay *High prices, but huge portions of generally very good food *Pastrami could be trimmed a bit better(asked for extra lean, was told«that may not be possible since pastrami is a very fatty meat»; in NYC delis, pastrami is much leaner… just sayin’)

My grandfather gets upset whenever I use the term«Jew Food» but I don’t know what else to call it and this was some damn good Jew food. Any deli that will layer hot meat with chopped liver on rye bread is a winner in my book. The staff is super New York and the patrons are cute as can be. The food was good but it seemed a little expensive for a counter service deli. The one thing I need to investigate is when you give them a tip they yell«subway». Not sure what that is reference to. Some old Jewish man gave a big tip and they yelled«subway subway».
