This place brings a whole new meaning to DIVEBAR. I don’t know what smells worse — the cigarette smoke or the patrons.

Great drinks and fun karaōke crowd all weekend. It might take a couple visits for the place to warm up to you, but give it a chance. It’s just a good olé fashioned dive bar with a friendly crowd.

Was there on a Sunday night and it was pretty dead but that was to be expected. Bartender was friendly and drinks were ok. Atmosphere is nice for a neighborhood bar but the bathrooms were actually super clean for a bar. Definitely will be back since it’s within walking distance to home.

I was a customer when it was still The Bushes. That said, I have been going there for years. Customers are friendly but I was insulted by the bartender tonight(5÷30÷14) before I even ordered. I was sitting down, got a cell call, and started to go outside to take it. He yelled, OVER the music«Bye chubby. Have a nice night.» WTF? Hello? Is this the new Smarty Pants image? The karaōke will cause your ears to bleed but the drinks were always good. Sometimes the draft beer system dies. I won’t know in the future because I will now go exclusively to Scandals to The Stables or anyplace but Smarty Pants. I drop a lot of money at bars and tip well, but don’t expect to be insulted.

Place is kind of cool if you are stopping in before a night out at a real bar but other than that I would skip it. As I am from NYC, this bar is not one I would normally go to. The owner is usually there and a busybody in the gossip and everyone’s business. On game nights, the owner also competes, usually cheats and wins. Like I said, it is an OK place during the day and at happy hour. After that they will charge you almost 5 bucks a beer and FORCE you to have a wet bucket in front of you to prove it. Not conducive to a $ 500 phone. I would hit here on my way back from the beach via cab and then leave. Other than than I would RUN!!! Karaōke is AWFUL on Friday & Saturday. Plus those night the bartenders tend to overcharge you if you use a credit card. My advice: if you ever go to this gayborhood watering hole, bring cash and pay drink to drink.

We have a duplicate listing for Smarty Pants and most of the reviews are under«Smarty Pants,» not Smarty Pants Bar. While I was apparently the first to review it I can’t recall that I actually did the listing, but whatever, we do have a duplicate listing. So my review below is the same as is under«Smarty Pants» where a couple of other Unilocal reviews have also been made. «Smarty Pants would probably be best classified as a gay neighborhood bar, generally attracting a steady flow of resident patrons as opposed to the tourist traffic. What they have to offer is that it is an establishment in which one may smoke. It does have entertainment on certain weekdays(Friday) and weekend nights, mostly karaōke which carries on until the early hours of the morning or until that last drunk has sung. It brings in a rather mixed crowd, mostly comprised of the 30 or 40 something age groups, mostly gay male but a few lesbians with a token bi or straight tossed into the mix. However, it essentially is known as a gay bar. A lot of its draw comes from the fact that it offers a good drink at a reasonable price and provides an atmosphere conducive to conversation on nights when entertainment isn’t offered. Located in corner strip mall section on the South East corner of Oakland and Federal, there is plenty of free parking and the area is generally considered to be safe.»

I just left this place about an hour ago and I swear I had the best 23rd birthday a gentleboy could have. Yes, it is filled with regulars around their 30s to 40s, and yes there is a karaōke setup. It is absolutely the best karaōke set up you have ever seen. The song selection is practically the best sound selection I have ever seen or heard at a bar. Absolutely everyone was friendly and the drinks were reasonably priced. It was my birthday though… I might have gotten special treatment I would like to hail this bar as a fantastic refuge in the sea of lowly dives in ft. Lauderdale. Def visit if you are of the queer mentality. DEF visit if you are of the FUN mentality.
