Brussels sprouts are amazing! & all of the food is great quality. Can tend to be a little slow service wise.

I’m pretty sure that this is mainly a local’s restaurant, but tourists should really give it a shot. It’s not fancy and it doesn’t look like much, but the service and the food are great! When you pull up, the front doesn’t look like much and when you walk in, it reminds you of someone’s living room, but looks aside they know exactly what they are doing. We are in town on vacation and we refuse to eat at chain restaurants when we travel. So after looking at a couple places, we decided that the comfort food quality menu looked good. We were greeted with a warm smile and seated immediately. Our waitress was friendly and always smiled. We decided and ordered in no time. The beef stew was good. The chicken pot pie was great and the country fried chicken was excellent! Oh! The French fries are amazing! They are very thin, shoestring fries that I think that they make there! So delicious. The corn spoon bread was very good, as well. The portions are insane. My country fried chicken had to be 12 oz of chicken. There was no way to eat it all and my wife barely ate half of her chicken pot pie. If you want a good meal and don’t really want to mess with the busiest locations that cater to tourists, check this out. I think that you’ll like it.

Great food. The best pot pie. So large you could definitely share this dish. It cane with the most amazing corn bread and mashed potatoes. The ravioli was incredible. I paired it with sweet potato mash and veggies. Service was friendly. Will return.

Good comfort food. I think it is gone now because the building was knocked down. Better call first. I had the chicken pot pie which was great and also the meatloaf on a previous visit. All the sides are good but I wish they were bigger.

I recently visited for lunch and was not impressed with that particular visit. The service was friendly but super slow during the rush of lunch. The sandwiches we had were just ok and my coworker did not enjoy the tomato soup. Now, that being said I do want to give it another visit because the menu looked fantastic overall. In addition it is a super quaint interior that feels homey and cozy. I also noticed a little counter where one can dine when alone. That’s a nice thing to have. I love places with that feel this way so because of it I’ll go back and will re-review then.

This place is excellent! The cheeseburger was seasoned to perfection, the Brussel sprouts were really good, and the pork chops and meat loaf were also very tasty! Side Note: BEWAREOFTHEBLONDE(older lady) WAITRESSWHOISNOTFRIENDLYBUTRATHERRUDE! Otherwise I would’ve given this place a five… try to get past her attitude to the excellent food if she happens to be your waitress …

Very disappointing! Five of us went out for two of our friends’ birthdays. We placed our orders and watched as tables that were seated after us all received their food. After 25 minutes, we wanted to flag down our waitress to check on the status, but even though we saw her walking around we were unable to get her attention. About five minutes later, half an hour after placing our orders, she came over and informed me that they were all out of the dish that I ordered. Luckily, I had been deciding between two dishes, so I told her I wanted the other one. They were out of that as well. I moved on to the third choice, which they were also out of. I wound up having to look back over the menu and order something that I was less than excited about. I understand that restaurants run out of food sometimes, and am not nearly as annoyed about that as the fact that it was more than half an hour after we had ordered before I was even informed there was a problem. They were busy, but still, I don’t expect to wait that long to get a dish, and they had not even started cooking! What makes this a one-star review is the fact that we were offered nothing at all to offset this. Had she offered to bring us some side salads, bread, or to discount the check in some way, this would most likely be a 3 – 4 star review(the food portions were good, but it was pretty tasteless and I didn’t feel like it was worth the price, but then again, I wasn’t able to taste my first three choices). I have never been to an «upscale» restaurant that has you sitting and waiting for your dish more than 40 minutes after ordering and offers the guests nothing, not even a sincere apology. The waitress blamed the chef for the mix-up, but I had no interest in the blame game. So just keep in mind if you are thinking of going there how much they actually value their patrons, because from my experience it doesn’t seem like it’s very much.

My mother and I were seated promptly for lunch and I looked forward to trying the seafood stew this visit. We were served our beverages and then we waited. And waited. And waited. After 45 minutes at the table with no food we gave up and left. Our server hadn’t even stopped by to ask if we needed drink refills or to advise on the status of our meal while we waited. With service this poor, I will not be coming back. A very disappointing experience.

Ok second time at new location. They know of the noise level is so so LOUD. But they food still the same, but service is real sad. They need at least two more employees The new places has more tables. It look like it does. Something like the other place with a another small room with a small bar no bartender . My roll on the crab burger was hard not worth the carbs. Plus the arugula look as it has been sitting out. But again it was good . Bön appétit.

I was here for the first time today to celebrate a friend’s birthday. All 6 of us enjoyed our lunches. Turkey salad, burger, grilled cheese sandwiches were enjoyed by others and my Waldorf chicken salad are was wonderful. Our server, Sam, was attentive and friendly. Looking forward to coming back soon to try something else soon.

Mason Jar used to be so good. Since they moved, everything’s off from the service(all new) to the food. If I had to guess, I’d say that the original owners sold to someone else. Tonight, I was so disappointed, I just had to write. Several of the waitresses yell to one another across the restaurant as if this is a low budget pizzeria. The hostess is so loud on the phone that it was hard to hear my dinner companion. Also, she was telling customers how busy they are, but if you know someone, who knows someone else, she’ll give you a great table. Meanwhile, I’ve been frequenting this place since it was the Las Olas Café and I get thrown into a very tight, uncomfortable corner. Their formerly incredible Brussels sprouts were a shadow of their former selves. I left them behind. The food, in general, was mediocre at best. The meatloaf was dry and crumbly, the sauces were off, way off. Unfortunately, my experience tonight was the second of it’s kind, so needless to say, there are better restaurants at which I will be spending my hard-earned money.

Had to leave. Way too BRIGHT inside! Also had about 10 empty tables but wanted us to only sit at a 2 top. We r tall people and a 2 top never cuts it. Ridiculous.

Considered bringing this down to three stars… although I’m conflicted about it because of how wonderful Paula was in my previous review. So let’s say it’s a 3.5 that we’ll leave rounded up to four. After seeing that their building had been torn down, my mom and I were pretty sad about the apparent demise of the restaurant. I called their number and was surprised when someone answered. They told me they had moved to the plaza just north of the old location. I told the good news to my mom, and we decided to visit last night. On the way, my mom talked about how she couldn’t wait to have those glazed carrots she loves, while I waxed poetic about the frozen lemonade pie. After all, it was that pie that kept me coming back, and if my mom really wanted to go, she’d just have to remind me of it to get me to agree. Once seated, my mom was dismayed to see the carrots were no longer on the menu(each entrée comes with two sides, and she’d always get a double order of them because she liked them that much). Then I noticed that quite a few items were missing that had been there previously. While I thought there was no way they’d get rid of my favorite dessert, I figured I had better check. Sure enough, the waitress decided to break my heart and told me they discontinued that too. My mom and I reluctantly ordered our meals, each of us already disappointed that our favorite menu items were gone. The food? It was okay. But unlike all of our previous experiences here, our waitress wasn’t particularly friendly or attentive. Toward the end of our meal, a different waitress came up and was chatty, and I wasn’t fully paying attention since I was still eating. I thought, «Wow, she got really friendly all of a sudden!» Only then did I look up and realize it was a different person, who remembered my mom and me from our previous visits. I hope they re-consider the changes they’ve made. I don’t know that I’d be particularly keen on returning unless they did.

The Mason Jar Café has opened a new location on Federal Highway very close to where their old location was. Unfortunately it is a smaller venue and it is even harder to get in for dinner. I called on Wednesday for a reservation for Friday and was told that my reservation was confirmed, however, when we arrived, I was told there was no reservation. Fortunately I could show them the call made on Wednesday as the number was still on my phone. My only criticism would be that they must make certain that the phone is answered by someone competent to take down the information. Even though they said I had no reservation, once they saw my phone, they immediately seated our party. We had an excellent waitress and the food was even better than the usual standard we had come to appreciate in the past. I had the meatloaf, my friend had the short ribs and my husband had the lamb chops. Every plate was perfect — colors, textures, taste and quality. You must try this little café. Call ahead to make your reservation and then confirm it, before you go!

From seating to departure, The Mason Jar Café pays close attention to their patrons’ experience at their restaurant. I can only describe it as a very cozy, homey environment. Every bit of our time at The Mason Jar café felt comforting, inviting, with a dash of delicacy. Their tomato, bacon and cheese soup was likely the best one I’ve had in years, and their blue cheese-topped filet mignon was, frankly, spectacular down to the very last bite. I cannot wait to take my relatives here — likely our newest«it» place.

A great place to go for a home cooked meal — when you come here you feel like you are visiting someone’s house. The tomato/gorgonzola/bacon soup is a musty try! Their salads and sandwiches are also nicely done. The place is also reasonably priced for the quality of the food. Will be back!

Quaint, eating at your friend’s grandma’s house vibe. Arrived shortly after Noon, so had a bit of a wait for a table. A couple that arrived after us, opted for outside seating which we’d overlooked, so they were waited on before we even were seated. After finally seated, service was friendly and prompt, server was very knowledgeable and helpful with the menu. Food portions are large and nicely plated. We felt flavor was bland, except for the well-seasoned burger. Skip the Fried Green Tomatoes. The side of brussel sprouts did not disappoint, were delicious — would have ordered a larger portion if possible. The dessert sampler was not available. Meal cost very reasonable.

After a recommendation by a friend I had dinner last night at the bar. My first impession of the general ambiance was poor, especially the bar. If you are by yourself and intend to eat at the bar, DONOTGOTOTHEMASONJAR! There was no bar tender and no TV and no other people at the bar… very depressing. I ordered their salad and the chicken pot pie from of the table waitresses who provided good service. I thought the salad was very good and priced right at $ 5.00. I was a little disappointed in the chicken pot pie, perhapsbecause I had suchhigh expectation. The crust was perfect and it looked absolutely fabulous, but had more potatoes then chicken and was a little soggy. No reason for me to return, however I was told my the waitress that the filet and salmon were their two best dishes. So if you are with a party of 2 or more you migh want to check it out.

One of the best seafood stews I’ve ever had! A slightly spiced tomato base broth with an abundance of mussels, shrimp, and fish, Ernesto’s special stew is not one to miss. We slurped up every last drop of it. S ordered the Mason Jar Burger which was also delicious, however, was not as exquisitely unique as the stew. Our two sides of Mac and Cheese and Brussel Sprouts with Pistachios was full of buttery deliciousness — I must learn their secret to making non-charred Brussel sprouts taste so good! Homemade carrot cake by Traci was moist and the cream cheese frosting was slightly sweetened and had a smooth consistency. At the end of meal, our waitress mentioned that we cleaned up our meal pretty well… definitely a testimony to how much our taste bud enjoyed this meal!

Wear your fat pants, because this is where you come to indulge! I found out about the Mason Jar in an article about hidden gems in Ft Lauderdale. Although I don’t live in the area, my parents have since become regulars. On my visits I’ve enjoyed their warm service, amazing food, and cozy atmosphere. Save room for dessert, you don’t want to miss it!

My co-workers and I frequent The Mason Jar Café during lunch and it’s a long-time favorite of my boss’s. The staff are superb — they all know our drink preferences and keep those ice tea/soda/water glasses(jars) full at all times. Everything I’ve tried on the lunch menu has been perfection. From the tuna salad sandwiches which I get on their whole grain bread(the bread is made in-house & to die for), to the most amazing grilled salmon salad(bed of spinach, cherry tomatoes, beets and red onion). Seriously they sear the salmon so well that it’s crispy on the outside but so moist and flaky on the inside w/great rich flavor. The portion of the salmon is huge which is hard to come by, you could easily save half for dinner. My absolute favorite meal for lunch. Their desserts are also delicious, decadent and homey. Love the whole vibe here and yes they serve their drinks in mason jars! Parking is in the back of the restaurant so you have to go around and turn from Oakland Park Blvd. and not from Federal Highway.

We stopped here to eat before a concert at the culture room since we could grab parking early then walk to the restaurant. This place was pretty good. For starters we ordered the fried pickles and the pigs In a blanket. The fried pickles were good, not small chips, they were really big. The pigs were basic pigs in a blanket, nothing special in my opinion. For dinner I got the fried chicken with Mac n cheese and the corn bread. The fried chicken is sweet, almost like its breaded with corn flakes. It was all fresh and delicious. My hubby got the special of the day which was a NY strip, I didn’t personally care for it, but he seemed to enjoy it. We also tried the Brussel sprouts with pistachios(holy butter). Overall the experience was pleasant.

This is another restaurant where we bookmarked for a long time, but never actually visit it. So, what better time to visit on a rainy Saturday afternoon. My wife and I are«Early Birds». Not that we are trying to go for the early birdd dinner specials, but we are used to have dinning early. Since this place opens for dinner at 5:30pm, we were already hungry before we got there. My first thought as I walked through the front door is: felt like country. The décor of the restaurant might feel outdated, but I guess its got it’s own little charm. After all, most of the items on the menu seems like rustic, comfort food to me. With that in mind, we decided to order the Fried Green Tomatoes to start the evening off. we had read rave reviews about thee food in this place, so the expectation was very high. However, when the dish arrived, we were a little disappointed. The tomato itself was okay, but the breading on the outside was very hard with no flavors. I am not sure what the sauce was on top, but it didnt add anything to the dish. And I think they can do without those crab meats they throw on top. Fortunately, the entrée we ordered turned out to be terrific. I ordered the Mahi Mahi. I got this generous portion of Mahi Mahi topped with some crusted walnuts with caramelized onions on top. The fish was cooked well and I really enjoyed my bite with the onions. Also, the mac and cheese I ordered as my sides was great. My wife had their Chicken Fried Steak and it was excellent. I love the thin and crispy breading on the outside, and the meat was nice and juicy inside. And, it had a lot of good flavors. Also, the fries she ordered as the sides was great. And the portion was huge, we only managed to eat half of it. Over all, it was a pleasant dinning experience. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Even the décor might be a bit outdated, but it is neat and clean. We might come back again.

My boyfriend made reservations here for our one year anniversary. I was pleasantly surprised as I had never tried it before but heard great things. When we arrived for our dinner reservations there were a couple families and couples having dinner. Not very busy on a Tuesday night. We were greeted right away and taken to our table by a window. It took a little bit for our waiter to come to us and take our drink orders, but we were not in any hurry so we waited patiently. Once our waiter came over, we ordered beer and I asked for a recommendation on wine pairings for the meals I was considering for my entrée. He gave me a wonderful recommendation on the Sauvignon Blanc to pair with Chicken. As an added bonus, they had half off wine bottles and by the glass on Tuesday! Unfortunately we did not order any appetizers though they sounded incredible, we ordered our entrees instead. Chicken Fried Chicken please! Our entrees came out about 15 – 20 minutes after ordering, sizzling hot. I can’t tell you enough how much we loved the Chicken Fried Chicken entrée with the Mac n cheese(heavy tasting with cream and butter and topped with crushed goldfish crackers) and green bean casserole(cooked perfectly with mushrooms as well.) I made it my mission to finish the very generous portion. The gravy made with cream and nutmeg was absolutely delicious. I wanted to order it to-go! We finished our meals without any room for dessert, but we know we’ll be back. Great place for family and friend gatherings, dates, and small special occasions. Staff is very friendly and attentive once they’ve greeted you. Prices are validated once you taste the food. You can tell they put a lot of love into their recipes. Hope you all enjoy it as much as we did!

Yes…5 stars… Felt like I was at someone’s house. We ate there a few weeks ago and I am seriously craving the Brussel sprouts! Started with… a very long named soup… basically a kitchen sink of soups. slight curry flavor… Totally deliciously! Fried pickles… perfect! Love they are large pieces and not chips. Fried green tomatoes… not crazy about the breading, but enjoyed it. I had Edgar’s famous seafood stew. It was a bit too spicy for me, but my husband loved. I ended up eating his filet from the porterhouse and it was Sooo good! I had fries and Brussel sprouts as my sides… OMG! those brussel sprouts were sooooo good(I have been trying to like Brussel sprouts in general and these made me love them). Husband has porterhouse special. It was very very good! Mac and cheese, yum! We had the sampler dessert. The frozen lemonade cake was sooo good… even though I was full I just kept eating! Typically canned soda drives me nuts… but they had Dr. Browns! Can’t wait to go back!
