Really disappointing Mexican food. I give it two stars because it’s not the worse in Fort Lauderdale but pretty damn close. I came here because I had a craving for enchiladas. I asked if they could make them vegetarian but was told they would only fill them with cheese. So basically that’s cheese wrapped in a corn tortilla covered with cheese. When I questioned why they couldn’t put veggies in it, I was told the vegetables are too big. Really? Anyway, I order them with chicken and it was stuffed with huge dry chunks of chicken and I am pretty sure they forgot the famous green sauce they go on about on the menu. I could barely get one enchilada down so all I ate was the dry rice and runny refried beans. Oh and the air conditioning must be broken because the 86 degrees outside was far cooler.

I’ve been going toTipico for over 10 years. Great Margaritas, salsa and basically everything on the menu! Friendly and attentive staff and the owner is always there watching over the operation. I love the quaintness of this place as it is not noisy as it doesn’t seat thousands of people. I usually am able to walk in and sit right down, but never have waited over five minutes. Reasonable prices and always fresh!

This is a fantastic little local place with great Mexican food. The vegetables and guacamole are always fresh and perfectly prepared. Excellent value, service, and location. The breakfast on weekends is an added bonus!

Love this place. Its an old favorite of mien. They have the best churrasco in town. Plus its great that they give you tortillas chips while you wait for your meal. The 2 salsas it comes with, to die for.

This place is a staple of mine. I live within walking distance and take full advantage. It is priced well and always consistent. The staff is friendly and I always love when you get chips and salsa, they even have 2 different salsas one of which is hotter. It’s nothing fancy, but those are the best places. I usually go for palomilla steak or the roast pork… can’t go wrong with either and some rice & beans. Winner in my book.

I have read and overheard reviews on this place. Ambience: 10 outta 10 Waitstaff: 10 outta 10 Food: 6 outta 10 The chips were crisp, however the salsa wasnt special. My husband had the Beef Fajitas and raved about them. I had the chicken tacos. The shells were fried and this made them chewy. I prefer a crisp shell. The chicken had no seasoning and no life. I dont think I will come back here.

Nice Spanish/Mexican restaurant at US-1 and Sunrise. The service is always friendly and attentive and the food fresh and plenty. They have wine-based margaritas, so don’t expect tequila shots, but the sangria is a nice option. Try their stir-fry dishes for something different!

Mexican and South African approve! Food was delicious. I was very surprised that the Huevo Rancheros were done so well! Have yet to find another Mexican restaurant that I can applaud. Definitely worth eating breakfast here. We shared stuffed French toast too! Yummmmm. 3 entrees and probably 8 coffees(we love coffee) and the bill was only $ 28.00.

This is an okay Mexican restaurant, but nothing more. The food is okay, the service is okay, the place is okay. I’ve been here twice now and I have not found anything that stands out about the place. My first time here they messed up my order and I had to wait for them to make it over while the rest of my party were eating their meals. Then I had to shovel it in to catch up and I don’t think it was cooked properly. The second time I came they did not get my meal wrong, so I was able to eat it peacefully and not rushed. It was cooked properly. I guess undercooking it was not why it was so bland. That’s just how they serve their food. All-in-all, I have to believe there are better Mexican restaurants in this town than this, so I’ll keep looking.

Decide to walk to Tipico today since its literally minutes away from me and heard about their lunch specials. I walked to met a hostess, I guess(and the smell of dirty cleaning supply water) who didn’t say hello even though I did. She just started walking which I guess was my cue to follow her. She sat me in a corner which I liked since I was eating alone. She brought chips and dips to the table rather quickly then my waiter, don’t remember his name because he never told me came to ask if I wanted something to drink. I told him give me a minute. I got a glass of water with lemon and«glass» of white zinfandel. Tiniest glass ever! The chips and dip were rather bland. My food came out not to long after, I had the baby palomilla steak which came with white rice, black beans and sweet plantains. The food was okay. Nothing special to me. I put alot of pepper on it. I thought it was weird they didn’t have hot sauce on the tables or offer any. My waiter didn’t come to check on me until I finished. I wouldn’t really care to come back. But I am willing to give them another chance.

Not too shabby. I had a pork dish and he had carne asada. Good for a quick lunch at a hole in the wall. I hear it’s family run. Food got to us pretty quick and he wiped his plate clean. Literally. So that has to be a good thing. Salsa was fresh and the hot version isn’t really that hot, but it is very flavorful. If you don’t want a healthy lunch(I mean that in a good way) then come here.

Not so great. Ordered huevos rancheros and they brought eggs and pancakes. Decided not to complain but halfway through she grabbed the plate away and brought me huevos. Which were just«okay.» Not terrible, not great either.

This family owned and operated little hole in the wall serves some of the most delectable«standard-fare» Mexican food I’ve ever had. There’s nothing fancy going on here, but it’s a gem nonetheless. Yes, it’s the same menu as La Bamba, basically. But for my palate, they do a better job here. I love their burritos, their chicken breast is perfectly seasoned, and the food is lovingly prepared yet very quickly. I’m so surprised to see comments about bad service, as I’ve never experienced that in my easily over 50 times eating there over the years. And now — they serve breakfast, too. N Again, nothing fancy — just good classic breakfast food — and I couldn’t be happier.

Got there 1:15pm on Wednesday with a toddler. They have breakfast til 2pm(says so on the menu). Wanted to get my kid pancake n eggs. Server says no not today. Ordered chicken nuggets n rice. They brought out a hammered out chicken breast covered in hard breading. Nasty. Burgers n fries not worth the money or taste.

Went here for dinner. It was my second time in a couple years to eat here. I forgot about the«cleaning» smell of the restaurant. You would think you would smell food, but you don’t. It smells like chemicals. It has only indoor seating. There is a bar with three seats. I didn’t see any liquor, only beer. The warm chips and fresh salsa that comes with your meal was good. There is mild and spicy salsa. There is a sharing charge. We ordered a side dish to avoid the fee. The steak burrito was great. It was made with skirt steak. I was not expecting such good quality meat. The refried beans are topped with shredded cheddar cheese. The burrito had a brown gravy sauce on it and melted cheese. We also had a cheese enchilada topped with verde sauce. It was a side dish for $ 4.95. It was okay. It was stuffed with shredded cheddar cheese. The food is not super authentic, but it was good. There is plenty of free parking in the attached parking lot. Service was efficient. The only bad part was the smell and the sharing charge.

Went again this past weekend, service was better, but not great. My friend ordered the chicken fajitas which she really did not like at all. They don’t really grille their chicken, but rather pan sauté it, and there is a difference. The meat comes out more stringy. I ordered the green burrito stuffed with pork(which is not on the menu as an option but I was told they could do it) the sauce was neon green, needed more cheese, and I had to ask for hot sauce as it was dry. They also charged us just shy of $ 2 for a *CAN* of diet coke. Not sure why they have cans instead of fountain, but that’s high way robbery if you ask me. $ 2 for a can??? I might go back only b/c it’s close to my house but I also might try the restaurant on the other side of 17th street bridge if i have a hankering for Mexican.

Tucked in beside Canyon and Heart Rock Sushi in the Sunrise old Gateway strip mall off Federal lies Tipico Café.
This place can be easy to miss, but since I’ve been to Canyon and Heart Rock Sushi before, I noticed a Mexican sign on the building and had to try it. Parking is easy, and the waiter or waitress is ready to serve you. They bring warm chips out and fresh bland salsa. Add Hot Sauce. Ordered the Chicken Quesadilla and Mexican beer. Very cheesy Quesadilla and the chicken is flavourful, the crunch in the grilled tortilla, now that’s the best. Crunch-yumm.
The soft tacos are really good I’ve had the Chicken and Beef. The order comes with a a mound of rice, and a large order of Refried Beans topped with grated cheese, by the time it gets to the table the cheese melts– yumm and the big piping hot Tacos, the huge soft warm tortilla wrapped all white meat marinated chicken, yes I have leftovers here. I’ve had the salad, it’s iceberg refreshing but not a salad. The service is great waters filled, check when the time’s’ right, just friendly. No waiting for tables here, the prices are right, the food is Tasty. I have frequented here a few times and loved it every time, what’s not to love? Will be back again
