I have been to this salon 5 times each time there was sometning I did not like either the color was not right, cut was uneven etc. however he convincing and made me feel as if I was wrong. The last two times we spoke about Brazilian Blowout instead of keratin treatment as it would be better for my hair. So I made the appointment anyway when I got there last week he put in not the Brazilian but what he called natural treatment even though it wasn’t what I wanted or made the appointment for. He said that it would be much better for my hair and again I trusted. I waited four days before washing which is one day more than recommended and my hair had no change. I went in to have him fix my hair and he was trying to convince me that it was perfect shiny and etcetera. Instead of trying to make a customer happy did nothing. DONOT go there you will be sorry.

Charbel is crazy and VERYUNPROFESSIONAL. He emailed me about my review about how cheap i am and that he did a good job. If he is soooo good then my personal opinion shouldn’t mean anything. But its funny that he dropped the prices in groupon I paid 79 for haircut and partial highlights now you can pay 69 for hair treatment haircut And partial highlights. By the way he charged me 75 for giving me a horrible base color. I think this is how he makes his money lures you in through groupon and adds to the services convincing you need more things. Like a mechanic. Go in for one problem come out with another. He said he did me a favor by doing whole head of highlights. HEWASNTPAYINGATTENTIONTOMETHECLIENT!!! He was talking to a supplier about stocking his salon, was jumping from one client to another. He wasn’t paying attention to what he was doing. THEBASECOLORHEGAVEMEWASCHOCOLATEBROWN and my HIGLIGHTSWERECARAMELANDBLONDE. Picture german shepard not high end beauty salon. Unless you are blind! aND THEREVIEWS… for every bad review there is someone that gives him 5 stars. Because Unilocal averages them out. So there is some scam here. By the way he took pictures of me before and after. NEVERASKINGIFHECOULDTAKETHEPICTURESORPOSTTHEM. TOTALLYINVASIONOFMYPRIVACY. it should never have came to this but his is ego is bigger than him. All he had to do was correct it and make the customer happy. But i guess that’s not his policy. YOUHAVETOPAYEXTRAFORANYTHINGYOUDON’T LIKE!

Updated 2÷5÷14 — should have done this earlier, but I kept forgetting whenever I’d sit down at the computer. So the keratin treatment did not last nearly as well as comparable treatments I’ve had at other salons. Within a month, you could not even tell I had it done. This happened even with me using the ridiculously expensive keratin shampoo that was supposed to make it last longer. It did not tame frizz at all after the first few weeks, and despite my hair feeling softer immediately afterwards, that also went away quickly. I understand I purchased the treatment through a Living Social deal, but still. I did not have this issue at the other salon where I used a comparable voucher. The dye job held up fine and I’m still getting compliments on it, but I would never go here for keratin again.

My daughter had Keratin treatment done at the salon. The experience was pleasant, but the treatment was not very effective. Previous keratin(also formaldehyde free, but at another salon), relaxed hair much better and lasted longer.

I made an appointment for a Keratin treatment at Jolie Toi because I had seen a Groupon deal for it. I braced myself for mediocre treatment and a rush job to get me out. I was so pleasantly surprised. My treatment was done by Dominga, who was absolutely wonderful! She did a great job, The salon was decorated very nicely, everyone seemed very friendly, and so far, it looks like the keratin treatment was done really well. There is a parking lot across the street, and at 10 a.m. there was plenty of on-street parking(max 3 hours). Unlike many«Deal» people, I am looking for a place I want to return to. I’m not in it just to save money. I tip on the true value of the deal, not what I paid for it. I will definitely return to Jolie TOI

Nice looking place. They have a private parking lot but you’ll be lucky if you can find a spot so plan on street, metered parking. I found the people here to be arrogant and when I asked for them to fix my bangs they didn’t. They charged me full price for a trim. The products I bought for maintenance of my keratin treatment are terrible(it feels like cheap shampoo & conditioner) and they are overpriced. I will not be returning to this salon.

I am writing this on 12−15−12 to say that the keratin booster treatment is still working. It might be partially due to no-poo products I’m bringing. Chris moved to California(I’m so sad!!) but Sam is great and my hair looks great. He did roots and cut and has done several blow-outs so far. He’s really terrific. Again, Unilocal deems what I say to be fake because my review Is filtered. It is not fake. I know a realtor in CA who got one bad review and 9 great reviews. Unilocal filtered EVERYSINGLEGOODREVIEW and left just the one bad review. Yes, filtered reviews are still there to read but the star rating is ignored. So that guy has a 1 star rating when 9 people gave him 5 stars. Unilocal says that it’s a computer-generated thing. I wrote them about this and, of course, no reply. 3−23−13: Editing this to say(1) I still love my hair and the place and(2) I am pleasantly shocked that Unilocal has unfiltered my review and that my star rating is now included in the mix. Don’t know when my review was unfiltered but I’m glad it is because everything I said ISTOTALLYTRUE!

I arrived on time for my 10am appointment. I had a Groupon for a wash, cut, mask and blow dry and style. I walked in and said I had a 10am appointment and was told to take a seat. I had to agree with another reviewer that no one even acknowledged I was there. I sat on the couch for 30 minutes before finally saying that I was in a hurry and had a 10am appointment. There were 4 hair dressers on the floor one was doing her own hair and they other was texting on her phone, only two were actually with a client. The inside is very trendy chic with interesting antique mirrors. The hair dresser apologized and went to wash my hair immediately. I then sat under a hair dryer for 20 minutes as the hair mask took affect. During this time no one came to check up on me or see if I needed anything. They didn’t even tell me how long I had to sit under the dryer for. After the hair mask, the hair dresser started cutting my hair. Nothing incredible, just your average trim. She then styled my hair, which was also okay. Would have liked it a little more straight. All in all an average experience. 2.5 stars.

The one star is because the place is well decorated… Its a nice place, great hair washing sinks. This place did my keratin treatment on my hair, on June 20, 2011. I have long wavy hair, similar in texture to Mariah Carey’s baby waves & curls. I should of known right off the bat when the hair stylist said, «You know this is not a hair straightener, right? And your hair is kind of wild.» At that I raised my eyebrows, maybe it’s because I am a light skinned mixed woman of african american heritage, «with good hair,» according to others. I responded w/this is not my 1st treatment, that I had gotten them before w/the result of silky, straight hair for six months, largely due to the fact I only wash my hair once a week… I told him it should work fine… Well it took 4 hrs., & a 3 day wait before I could wash the treated hair… Here I am two washes later, & my hair is wavy as the day I went in there… They must have used some crappy ass product… Therefore I wasted my day & the additional days… Mind you the owner of the salon and his employees push the ‘special shampoo & conditioner that goes w/their treatment @ the cost of $ 79… Saying«oh, don’t blame us if your hair treatment does not last…» They know damn well no woman in her right mind who reads is going to pay that price. Especially those who have done the keratin treatment before, it’s not new. I usually go to Haircutters @ Harmon Cove in Secaucus, and use any shampoo that is sulfate free and have gorgeous, silky smooth hair for months… I feel like I am being punished for saving some money and buying a groupon for this place… Never cheat on a good hair stylist… It’s not worth the saving. My hair looks like nothing was done… The place is a scam… If a four hour treatment that normally takes two hours on my hair didn’t work, what good would their over priced keratin shampoo do? Anybody else notice that the great reviews posted about Jolie Toi came after a bunch of bad ones? I am just saying… SMH… Looks like the owners put a few positive reviews up to help them out…

I bought a Groupon for a keratin treatment. Figured I would try a local salon I had never been to before. I had made my appointment about a week ahead of time, so I could get my hair done on a Saturday. The salon called back several days later and told me they needed to reschedule. In trying to find a time that worked, I was told that Groupons aren’t accepted on Saturdays. It was as if they were doing me a favor. I read the Groupon voucher and the terms 20 times over and it does not state that you can’t have this treatment done on a Saturday. That said, I let it slide and decided to go in with an open mind. I arrived on time, and had to wait over 40 minutes before they even washed my hair! After I had first walked in, no one acknowledged me… it was like I wasn’t even there. Usually I would say something, but I decided to let it go(again). Finally I had my hair washed and then they began the«keratin treatment.» I was placed under the dryer for an extremely long time. Longer than needed. Finally, someone came and shut off the dryer and again I had to wait. My stylist was working on someone else’s hair. At this point I was NOT happy. Finally, the owner started to work on my hair, but he was not exactly gentle and was actually hurting me. My stylist eventually finished with his other client and started to work on my hair again. The entire process took 3 hours, the majority of the time was spent with me having to wait for them to finish other clients both before and during my own treatment! I have had many keratin treatments before, but my hair has never been as greasy as when I walked out of Jolie Toi. I was already questioning to myself what was put in my hair. I was loathing having to leave this«keratin treatment» in my hair for 72 hours. During the 72 hour time period, I did as instructed, kept my hair straight, didn’t get it wet, etc. I finally washed my hair(after the 72 hours) and was very disappointed. The«keratin treatment» did NOTHING for my hair. My hair is no different than before I went in, hence why I put the quote marks! This was a total waste of time and money. I will NOT be going back to Jolie Toi.

I had a Keratin treatment there. The result is so so. After the first wash(4 days) later, you wouldn’t tell I had it done. The hair dresser’ service is terrible. He acted like he just woke up and looked grumpy the whole time. I used a $ 99 groupon for this. But be careful, he’d trim your hair no matter what you say to him. And charge you $ 45 on top of your groupon and your tip. So I paid $ 40 tip and $ 45 for the trim. Totally NOT worth it. Stay away from this salon!!!
