Fried okra was great. Pulled pork and chicken were excellent. Staff was super friendly and portions were huge. Ribs were not good. My kids liked them, but we didnt. If they would put more effort in the ribs, I would give it more stars. I’m almost certain they boil them, and then quick grill them or something along those lines. Overall, I would go back for sure. Just disappointing when a place is called hickory pit, and no hickory seemed to be used. One more thing. The zesty-lime vinegar sauce was amazing! I would like to have that recipe. Corn needs to be the super sweet variety and not the tasteless kind. I always want to see mom and pop places like this succeed and my opinions are just that. Opinions I am a certified Bbq judge, which doesn’t say a lot, but I do know authentic Q when I see it.

I was excited when this place reopened. I finally got a chance to visit and was left unsatisfied. The beans and hush puppies were good. Sadly, the rest was dry and not flavorful. I say it tasted like day old BBQ. Oh and pls, pls, pls. listen to your customers

There are several really good bbq places in the area, this is not one of them. Food lacked enthusiasm, hush puppies were dry and without sauce, sliced beef was was also dry, potions were good, too bad it was not worth finishing. Upon leaving I was asked how the food was and politely responded fine, when pressed I was honest, the owner took offense. I appreciate that they tried to reopen this historic restaurant and they will probably do ok through the season but unless they improve significantly I don’t expect them to make it through the year.

This place is delicious. I ordered the pulled pork plate with fries and biscuit. Pulled pork was amazing! Hot, tender, juicy and will be back very soon. I don’t usually like coleslaw but this stuff is amazing. Three different bbq sauces to pick from. All fantastic. Nothing fancy but food is out of this world. Best bbq food I’ve ever had.

Ribs were burnt and dry. The sliced brisket was horrible! Don’t know if it was just an off day being the day after Thanksgiving, but I’m definitely not going back to see. The waitress Libby was SUPER nice though.

We have been to Hickory four times since it has reopened. So far we have tried the ribs, chicken, pork plate, chicken Caesar salad and beef. The portions are generous and the food excellent. We have tried all the new sauces plus the original, so there is a taste for everyone. The coleslaw is just like my Mom’s. Service is friendly and attentive, ask for Mckenzie, she is great.

I had a great time with my family at Hickory BBQ in Fort Myers Florida! The Roberts family did an amazing job reviving an awesome local establishment. Not only did they retain the original bbq sauce, but they added two additional ones that rock! Also don’t forget to try the pie and chocolate cake for dessert! This is the perfect restaurant to take your family. Also great staff!
