I had a «gold» service agreement with Home-​Tech which should provide really speedy service. It doesn’t. The air conditioner went out Saturday, December 26^th, five minutes after their office closed (2:05 pm). So we left a message. It qualified for emergency service because the outside temp was over 85 degrees. We got a guy out the next day, Sunday, December 27^th, who didn’t have the part he needed and said it could be a week. We got the service done Monday afternoon, December 28^th. That’s two full days without air conditioning. Then, Wednesday, December 30^th, the dryer decides not to heat anymore. I call and it’s well within their timeframe. The rude woman on the phone tells me it will be next week before they can get someone out because, you know, Friday is a holiday. I asked her what I’m supposed to do until next week. She said, since my washer is working, I could hang my clothes up to dry. Really? Is it 1957? I live in a condo, and I guarantee there is no place I could (or would) put up a clothesline. I can’t go to the laundromat (ick) because I broke my tailbone and can’t carry heavy baskets of wet clothes and would never use laundromat washers because I can’t triple rinse my clothes (hubby and I both have contact allergies). She doesn’t care and starts to go off on me. I tell her I refuse to argue with her and ask what time she can get someone out here. She says Monday, January 4^th, and they will call after 8:00 to tell me what time (could be anytime up until 5 pm). Fine. So I have to call them Monday because I got no call and it was 9:10 a.m. She said he would be out between noon and 3. The guy who came out was okay, not particularly friendly, just wanted to do his thing. He did take his shoes off and I appreciated that. He worked on the dryer for about 40 minutes or so and told me it needs a part he doesn’t have. Says he put in a request and when it comes in, they will call. Got tired of waiting for them to call me, so I called Thursday, January 7^th, for information. Left a message, since the woman I need to speak with was away from her desk. She called me back and said soonest they could get someone out was the following Wednesday, January 13^th. I asked her how she could make an appointment since I hadn’t gotten a call to tell me anything about the part. She said that the part «just came in» and she was going to call me if I hadn’t called her. January 13^th has come and gone, part tech installed doesn’t fix the dryer, so back to earliest appointment, which is January 18^th. It got fixed after I had left for a month to visit my daughter in Ohio. Needless to say, I won’t be renewing my yearly contract at the end of the month. There is no sense of urgency with this company, no customer service skills and no apologies for taking for fricking ever to fix my dryer. I’ve already signed up with Choice Home Warranty — better price, better coverage and they are the #1 rated home warranty company around.

My tech was Henry and he couldn’t have been more helpful and more informative. He was very helpful and I would highly recommend him. I normally don’t post reviews but as a stay at home mom he definitely made me feel comfortable.

Do NOT buy this plan!!! We bought an expensive $ 600,000 house and the plan transferred to us. They had this for over 10 years. Day before closing, did a walk thru, Refrig. Was not running. Called them out, he said it would cost more to repair and they could give us a $ 100 discount at their store. We were out $ 2600 to buy a new one, which we did not buy from them. If that’s the best they could do after these people paid into this scam for over ten years, plenty enough to pay for a new Refrig. Six months later, I get dripping water coming thru the bathroom ceiling. We called our close friend, who is an air repairman, he said when home tech installed the air unit in attic, they cut the wire that shut down unit when water filled overflowed of pan, leading to overflow of water and creating several water damage. thanks guys!!! We bought our new home from an elderly couple, who had plenty of money. I believe this company took full advantage of them.

Just had my refrigerator serviced and was able to schedule a cleaning of my dual AC system. Being able to call one place for AC and Appliance Repair is really nice. I’ve always liked that the repair guys are not commissioned sales people so I know they are here to fix the problem and not pull any shenanigans. The guys are always clean and professional and fix it the first time which is great.

Last week, I received a call from Home-Tech’s service manager as a follow up to my Unilocal review. He offered to send a technician out to level the fridge for free. Brett came out this morning and leveled the fridge. He was very clean and professional in his work.

Had service agreement. Home-​Tech installed water heater improperly and flooded my house, partially. Is a rental unit and damaged many of the tenants items. Home-​tech got their insurance involved to deal with damages, but as with any insurance process its a stressful and long process and at the end very rarely get whats deserved. The claim is still pending for my tenants items, so we will see how that pans out. Home-​Techs insurance will not cover mold removal and Home Techs managers will not call me back. So, Im stuck with cleanup for their mess up. Nor, has their been any kind of compensation offered to me for this nightmare. But, Ive had to compensate my tenants. Poor service. Will not be renewing. Beware!

I’ve been a customer for about 10 years and all of a sudden service appears to be going downhill. Last year I was without an ice maker in my fridge for over 3 weeks. This year I am without a microwave for 2 weeks and counting. I have to seriously re-​consider renewing my 2 contracts in December. It seems that are just ordering parts that they think will fix the problem instead of ordering all the affecteed parts and retuning what is not needed. Maximum customer inconvenience seems to be the rule today. In the past everything was fixed in 1 or 2 trips depending on parts in the truck.
Customer service is, in my opinion non-​existant.

We have had a service agreement for 22 years but would like to switch because their service is now marginal. Service used to be good, but many of the service techs now appear less competent. Moreover if service parts are costly, or even worse no longer available, HomeTech will simply decline service and provide no credit or compensation. The service manager in one instance delayed needed repairs to a defective air handler (purchased a few years earlier from Home Tech) for six months, and in another case simply declined to service a perfectly fine older heat pump that the company repeatedly had asserted was covered. Home Tech simply maintains the option to refuse repair or replacement of your appliance, and they do not even provide a credit for the repair cost! Caveat emptor.

I have been a Home-​Tech customer for over a year now, and I have to say, they are absolutely wonderful. I have been having issues with my oven and dishwasher and needed repair, fast. Home-​Tech was able to get my an appointment right away. The serviceman who facilitated the repair was SO nice, professional and clean cut. These are good guys, and very trustworthy. I even told my Mom about how professional they were, and suggested she contact them for her repairs.
I can say this about them, the staff and the service agreements are great. That service agreement saved me a boat load of dough on repairs. I am a Home-​Tech fan for good now. Give them a try, they are absolutely worth every single penny.

Totally tried to rip me off. Pathetic attempt at cleaning coil during annual maintenance. Wanted to sell me a new A/​C, and nothing more. Steer clear of these clowns.
I called another reputable A/​C company (see review under my profile). They fixed me right up by cleaning the coil properly, at a fair price, and fixed my condensation leak, the original reason for my call.
