Sent an email inquiry regarding placing a cake order for my upcoming wedding on north captiva island (an island only accessible by boat!) I promptly received an email from the owner stating that he was currently out of town and to call his staff to place the order. I called and was told that Chris handled all the special orders through the beach clubs. I explained that Chris had emailed and asked that I contact his staff. This girl was dumbfounded and did not know how to proceed with taking the order for my wedding cake. She had to call me back. I proceeded to place the order and told her on several occasions the date of the wedding. She told me that Chris would be contacting when he returned for the additional payment that was due. This took place on Friday. I received a call on the following Tuesday to confirm the date of the ceremony from this same employee. Never received a call from Chris as I was told, I assumed that maybe no additional payment was required. Fast forward to my wedding day, my wedding planner calls me at 9am to tell me that the bakery was closed on Mondays (this was a Monday)!!! The wedding planner attempts to reach anybody were futile. I emailed Chris and he responded that he was unaware of any order for my wedding cake. He said his staff had never gave him my order and it must have been in a temporary file with the cake order never even having been made!!! I ended up having to get a cake rush made by publix.
Would definitely NOT recommend going here. I can’t comment as to the quality of the cakes because they never even made one for me!!!

I was coming to FL for my father’s birthday and wanted to order a special cake. I checked out Unilocal and Mason’s seemed like a good choice. Its always a bit of a risk to order something from a distance from a new place. I’m happy to report I was just thrilled with Mason’s service and products. I ended up ordering two birthday cakes to be delivered to a restaurant downtown. Other than the flavors of cake and messaging, I didn’t give them much direction. Both cakes were beautifully decorated and delicious! One was chocolate/​chocolate which can be too rich, but this wasn’t, it was the perfect combo of moist cake and not too sweet icing. The other was marble with chocolate icing on the inside and a lighter, whipped icing outside. Fantastic! Several people at the party told me it was the best birthday cake they’d ever had! I would definitely order any cake for any event from Mason’s.

Great service and amazing tasting cake! I ordered my sisters wedding cake from here specifically because we wanted a nice clean look, without the use of fondant. So many bakeries use fondant now a days for cake — I hate fondant. This was a great choice. They made the cake exactly as requested and decorated the cake with flowers delivered to them by our florist. Great job guys!

Crooked piping, came in a cardboard box without a lid. Difficult to get in touch with prior to the event to arrange payment and pick up.

The appearance of my wedding cake was embarrassing, it cost me more than agreed upon, AND they used the wrong icing!
I used this bakery for my destination wedding because their cake came with the wedding package at Sanibel Harbour Marriott. I emailed the owner 2 months before the wedding date to ask about using a large statue as a cake topper for my small 50 person wedding. I sent him the dimensions, weight, and a link to the product page on Amazon. His only requirement was that it not be top heavy in case someone bumped the table; he understandably did not want the cake to tip over.
However, 4 days before my wedding I stopped in to drop off the cake topper and Chris the owner was shocked by the height. Keep in mind, I sent the dimensions before the cake topper was purchased. He told me the only way that we could use the cake topper was for him to make 2 cakes to balance out the height of the statue/​topper. This conveniently for him cost me another $ 40.
When I walked into the reception room on our wedding night I was appalled by the appearance of the cakes. The cakes looked like someone had run a can of redi whip up and down them. It was embarrassing. I can’t believe someone running a legitimate business would send something like that out with their name on it. And on top of all that THEY USED THE WRONG ICING as the filling! They couldn’t even get the basic part of the cake order right.
Avoid this place at all costs.

I have been a customer of Mason’s Bakery since 1990. they made my wedding cake in 1991, every holiday they make my cakes and pies. Today not happy at all with them. I ordered a Thanksgiving Turkey Cake for $ 17.00 of Saturday to pick it up today. When I got there to pick up the cake there was a sign on the door Buy one get one free all Thanksgiving items. I walked in, in the case was 10+ Turkey Cakes the same as I ordered, I asked if they were included in the bogo, I was told yes. So I said. okay I ordered a Turkey Cake gave them my name and said I would like another Turkey Cake for the BOGO. A man, I believe to be the owner or manager said he can’t do BOGO for preorder. I said but it’s the same cake I ordered. he said he can’t do it with a preorder. I said well that’s not really fair because I was a loyal customer and ordered the same $ 17.00 cake ahead of time. I said so if I just walked in the door and purchased one of the Turkey cakes I would get one for free right? He said, look I could just stop the BOGO and donate it all. I told him whatever!!! I paid for my ordered cake and left, but I will not be back. Why wouldn’t he just take care of a good customer… it was the same cake, exactly. in fact now that I am home the ones in the store look better than the one I received… Lesson Learned. I will not go back to Mason’s Bakery. Happy Thanksgiving…

My husband and I were visiting friends in Ft. Myers over his birthday weekend. I did some quick google searches for cake places, and was clueless about who would be good. I called Mason’s, and they were very nice on the phone, so went with them.
On the day of pick up, we were running late after a fun day at the beach, followed by a torrential downpour on our way to the bakery. I called to let them know we might not make it by 5pm, and they were so nice and accommodating. We ended up getting there about 5 minutes late, and the owner came to the door when we knocked.
The cake was delicious. Although not listed in their list of flavors, I asked if they could do an espresso filling, and they said no problem. The cake was light and fluffy and disappeared very quickly!

I ordered my son’s first birthday cake a week in advance. I came to pick it up when it was supposed to be ready. The cake hadn’t even been decorated yet! They did it quickly while I waited. I was very disappointed in the job they did. It was obvious they had rushed it… the icing on the side was uneven and they even forgot to cross the «t» in Birthday! I didn’t notice this until I got home, and, after waiting ages for them to decorate the cake I didn’t have time to go back and have it fixed. The cake itself tasted okay… nothing special. I was hoping for something special for my son’s first birthday, instead, I got an average-​tasting cake that looked like it had been decorated by a child! I could have done better myself. I will not be a repeat customer.
