We just had a great time here! Neil and Bridgett are wonderful hosts and Donna took very good care of us. Brats and schitzels were very good. Things will only get better as they fill their inventory of wines and beers. Thanks for a nice evening. Will be back real soon.

My work group went over for lunch excited to have a new restaurant in town and to try their signature dish. What a disappointment it was for everyone when we were sticker shocked at the prices. Upper teens for any type of schnitzel dish. It was too much for lunch in little ol’ Ft. Walton Beach, especially with good lunch menus nearby. Most of us backed down to some other mediocre item on the menu. It was a real disappointment that left many not going back for at least 6 months or more. They need to do some market research on their competition. They desperately need a lunch menu. The gyro is not the typical Mediterranean type. It was ok. I’d drive elsewhere to get one. The sweet Potato Fries were great, but a pricey swap for the normal fries. That said, the 2 people who ordered the schnitzel seemed to enjoy it. I recommend trying this place and being prepared to split the meal, or take half home for a second meal. I plan to try this strategy at some point.

My new favorite place to eat German food. Great sausage and schnitzel. Amazing gyros. Flavorful and authentic.

This place could go either way. Right now it’s about 80%, but the devil is in the details. We got the Jäger Schnitzel and the Brew House Schnitzel. Both of them had very good flavor with a slight edge going to the jäger sauce. They were cooked perfectly. Service was likewise very good. So why 3 stars and not 5? A few reasons. Most importantly, the pork was very tough. Schnitzel is supposed to be pounded flat. This also tenderizes the meat. This clearly did not happen to our pork, and the overall quality suffered dearly. Even though the flavor was great, it was a chore to cut and chew the meat. I don’t know how this could have been overlooked. Usually when you get schnitzel, it’s nearly as big as the plate. This isn’t because they’re generous with their portions. It’s because they take a standard cutlet and pound it until it’s three times the original size. Secondly, the sides need to go. It comes with fries, sweet potato fries, or some other generic side item that isn’t even worth remembering right now. Yeah, they have German sides. No, it doesn’t come with your food. Fries should not even be an option at a German restaurant unless you’re talking about a kid’s meal. I want to stress here that this is not a fast food place. They’re charging 19 dollars for a piece of pan fried pork with little preparation and a side of Sysco fries. No. Just no. Third, condiments such as tzatziki(for the gyro option) or herb butter cost extra. In fact, it costs the same as a side a la carte. This is insane. Next, the beer section is terrible. They will have three beers on draft. This isn’t the schnitzel hut. This is the schnitzel brew house. Have brew somewhere in the house. And don’t charge 6.50 for it. It’s $ 1.49 across the street for the same portion of the exact same beer. 3 overpriced German beers and a bottle of Bud Light is borderline criminal at a place called Schnitzel Brew House, and I suspect this is going to be their undoing. There is a very large market here that remains untapped. I guess this probably sounds overly critical. If they’d take some time to properly prep the meat and stop trying to nickel and dime the customer, this place would be pretty solid. As it stands, we’ll probably give it a pass for 6 months. If they’re still around at that time, I’ll assume they made some changes and will give it another shot.

We tried the Schnitzel Brew House for lunch today. Very overpriced, extremely small portions, and mediocre food. I decided to order Brats and fries because I refused to pay $ 18 for jäger schnitzel. The beats didn’t even come on a brochen, or roll at least. Just two small brats on a plate with some fries, for $ 9.50. My friend got the schnitzel. It was a very small piece of pork, with some tater tots. I spent 4 years in Germany and this wasn’t even close to authentic, and twice as expensive. Don’t waste your time or money.
