A mess from the start! We checked in and thought everything was going to be ok. It was not. The flowing issues were documented. Some are documented in pictures going along with this business. The first room given was room 210, nearest to the Liberty Diner, not the strip club. Smoke smell in the hallways, restaurant side, near room 210. Illegal to smoke in a business or hotel or within 20 feet in rhe State of Indiana. We walk into the room to find water bottles, Little Carsar’s Pizza and boxes, bobby pins, cigarette ashes, garbage not emptied, beds not made, etc. That was just room 210. I notice stairs that are falling apart, doors held open with garbage cans… Creating a fire hazard, towels thrown in the hallways, a makeshift«do not disturb» sign, floor tiles chipping away, etc. We asked to get another room. The room we got was #146, overlooking the strip club. How joy! We walk in and find minor issues such as– paint on vanity and mirror, roach powder, peeling floor paneling around the walls, noisy doors, noisy neighbors, no tissues, no shampoo, no conditioner, etc. We were not happy with our room. This place is CHEAP, NOTINEXPENSIVE! I did not sleep over 2 hours last night in this dump!

Yes! I’m actually giving a Motel 6 four stars, but hear me out and I shall spin you a tale of intrigue and misadventure. That and thought it only fair to judge it on motel standards. I travel a lot for work and although my travel per diem is $ 225 a day, I prefer to stay in motels due the abundance of local fauna that often frequent such establishments.(«I was a sociology teacher for seven years,» he says as if that explains the preference.) I check into the Motel 6, for a measly $ 38.75, after a fifteen hour day and find the way to my room through a labyrinth of hallways and staircases. The room, and motel in general, was in good order. The sheets were clean, the heater worked, and there were no oddly familiar, yet not entirely pleasant odors lingering in the air as I have experienced in some motels. I’d grant it a three on the aforementioned amenities alone, but a good deal of its appeal lies in its neighboring attractions. Immediately on either side is a diner and a strip club — Brandy’s Lounge. I wasn’t going to go, until I found $ 40 while out for dinner. I’m not a religious man, but someone out there wanted me to have some cheap beer while gazing at scantily clad rubenesque women. All was had by a good time. Oh! And they had cable and internet access as well. The Motel 6, that is. I’m not sure about Brandy’s. So… that’s my argument. I realize that it’s more anecdotal than empirical, but that’s the way I roll from time to time. 4 stars.

Stay at the Knights Inn, located about one hundred yards away. On the same side of the road. Knights inn review:
This motel six is about thirty? Plus years old . Mostly it is used by drunks from the topless bar next door. The parking lot is very small for cars. People are driving in from the topless bar on one side. Or from the twenty four hour diner on the other. The truck drivers pass in front. Going to and from the highway, to the twenty four hour truck stop. Some people like it.

This Motel 6 was pretty awful. Now I know Motel 6 is not known for luxury, but this was bad even for an economy place. The floors were very dirty, the beds were extremely uncomfortable and old, the air conditioner made a horrible squealing noise when we tried to turn it on. The bathroom was a little better, at least the shower seemed newer, but the floor, toilet & sink were in poor condition. Also, the fan in the bathroom made a loud whining noise. The only positive was that is was cheap, only about $ 36 per night. Thankfully I was only there 1 night, and I don’t seem to have brought back any roaches.
