I have been going to Richards Bakery for 30+ years. It has been my bakery of choice. Until recently. Ever since the new owners have taken over it has not been the same. I went in today at around 8AM on Friday morning wanting to buy some cookies. I did not see any in the case so I asked and was told they were just pulled out and it would be 20 min. This has happened before and also the cookies have not been consistent at all. Also today there were very few donuts in the case. I do want to say on a positive note that Pam who has been waiting on me for years is always very pleasant and helpful.

Be aware that the menu on this site is not the same as Big Apple Pizza. It looks the same but the words are DIFFERENT! This led to some confusion during ordering and pick up but did not detract from the product. We had the traditional NY thin crust and it was very good. Plenty of air pockets in the crust, it was crispy and evenly baked. Had a custom pizza so chose the ingredients you like. I used to live in FW in 60’s-70’s and the go to places were Zoli’s, Oley’s and the Redwood Inn. Big Apple is on par with the best of year’s ago. The bakery selections was poor but not the reason we went there.

Not a whole lot of cheese and the sauce was a bit acidic for me(personally). But overall, it was a good pizza and I do recommend it to anyone who likes the NY style pizzas or anyone who likes local pizza.

The BEST donut is the raspberry filled white iced one! I grew up eating these but since have moved away. 20 years later and they are still my favorite! The cinnamon iced donut is great too!

Pizza by the slice was great! I also ordered an entire pizza and my entire family loved it! Think about this place before you think of the other guys in town. This is REAL pizza.

My favorite NY style pizza place in FW. Been here twice and really love it. We haven’t tried the more exotic pizzas yet and just get pepperoni and onion. We just order it and take it home, although there are a few seats. Definitely try it out.

Being raised and living in NYC for nearly 2 decades and living in FW for nearly 1 decade now, I’ve waiting for a LONG time for NY Style pizza coming to the Fort. Sure Chicago Style pizza is great but none falls in comparison to the good ol’ fashioned NY Pizza! Love this place!

When I heard the accent and tasted the pizza I was transported to that short time I was Brooklyn eating pizza. So good! I wish I had a picture to post but I ate that slice so fast I didn’t have time. Gonna order a whole pie tonight and make sure to post some!

Maybe I came on a bad day. There were only 3 pizzas made for the pizza by the slice option. I had my slice re-heated and it was ok. Nothing special about this place and with Pizza King down the street I don’t see this pizza place working out very well.

I enjoy pizza by the slice. Hate food courts at malls for this sort of thing and am nowhere near pretentious enough to be caught dead in Pint & Slice. Thankfully, this dive bakery offers good pizza by the slice. It’s not the best pizza you’ll ever have, but you don’t have to deal with the douchebags that fill Pint & Slice or the mall.

I first went to Big Apple when they opened on the recommendation by a local food critic who’s opinion I hold little respect for but I love giant, floppy slices of pizza. I walked in and ordered a few slices of pepperoni. I thought the pizzas in the open, room temperature case were for display but they were taken to the back and equipped with pepperoni then reheated in the oven. This is probably no different then having them spin endlessly under a heat lamp but it seemed peculiar. At any rate the pizza tasted like it was removed from a room temperature case and reheated in the oven, kind of like leftovers at, what I thought, was a high price. I returned after writing this place off because others told me that going for a whole pizza was a much better route. So I did, I ordered a large pepperoni. Whoever I spoke to on the phone was extremely polite and the women who greeted me was equally polite. This pizza is gigantic, it is fantastically large and the slices are nearly a foot long. This is right up my alley. There is nothing special about the pizza which is what a giant pepperoni pie is supposed to be. The dough was lacking in salt but was perfectly cooked and sauced. I initially thought it was too expensive at $ 25 but it’s an enormous pizza! I will return but only for an entire fresh pizza.

I tried out Richard’s for the first time. I had the ‘Queens’ Grandma pizza. It was absolutely delicious! The crust was crisp, buttery and the chunky tomato basil sauce on it was fresh and flavorful. It did remind me of the grandma style pizza I had in NY a while ago. This is a wonderful change from the regular pizza places in Fort Wayne. Will be coming back next time to try the other stuff!

I am also from Bklyn, N.Y. 46yrs ago. It is the closest N.Y. style pizza you can get out here. My husband and I loved it… Great N.Y. style pizza.

Delicious New York style pizza here! We tried the Staten Island — meat lovers. I’m definitely coming back. Oh, and they also sell by the slice.

These guys know how to make pizza. Had a slice of the NYPD Chicken Bacon Ranch. Good thing they sell it by the slice, because if I’d bought a whole pizza, I would have tried to eat the whole thing! I will be back to try some additional varieties. They primarily do a big carryout business, exactly what I’d expect from a doughnut shop, since most people get their doughnuts to go… I just wish they had more seating so more friends could join us for lunch.

Absolutely awesome pizza… finally a New York style pizza! Out of the way, but sooo worth it! I wonder if they don’t have the Long Island H2O shipped in…

If you have not tried this place, please do! Fort Wayne is full of crappy chain pizza joints, with just a few exceptions. This is really great pizza — please support this place!

Best pizza in Fort Wayne. It is great to have traditional NYC pizza in the Midwest. It is authentic, delicious and priced right. High quality and they deliver to your home and business. Order a «pie» and a doughnut, what is better than that!

This place is great! You can get a slice of pizza or an 18″ pizza pie. They have NY style pizza. We tried a slice of the«FDNY”-Buffalo Chicken pizza — it was great, a deep dish pizza with a lot of chicken! We also tried a slice of the«Manhattan» — Neopolitan — with their NY hand tossed crust with sauce and cheese — another favorite. They are also trying out garlic knots, they threw in a couple to try, if you like garlic, you will love them! very tasty! Next time, I’d like to try their«Staten Island» — Meat lovers pizza or the«Long Island» white pizza. The white pizza has all cheese, mozzarella, ricotta and parmesan, no sauce. Everything looks really good! They also still run Richard’s Bakery, so if you want to pick up something sweet, it is available. The cupcakes looked really good!
