The 1121 Salon

I want to make it clear that I am mostly at fault here. I had an appointment at 3:00, but knew I was going to be about 15 minutes late. I tried to call to let the owner know that I would be late, but there was no answer. I came in at 3:13-I made sure MANY times– and the door was locked, the «open» sign was off. There was a tiny sticky note that said «be right back», so I waited. I went back to my car since it was freezing and snowing outside, and waited there for about another 20 minutes calling the salon. Finally there was an answer, so I went inside. Owner was very rude, did not apologize, and kept claiming that he waited until 3:20 in a VERY rude manner. I understand that I was late and I apologized-​but I ensure that I was not later than 3:13. He was adamant that he waited until 3:20 and refused to hear otherwise, and basically shooed me out since he had someone coming in. Shouldn’t have strayed from my usual salon, as I’ve heard the owner can sometimes be a bit rude and sassy. I understand this was my fault for being 12 minutes late, but I did try to call and inform the owner, and received only his adamant and sassy attitude in return.

I called this place for a haircut and the person over the phone asked me a most unusual question that NO hairstylist has ever asked me before. First thing he asks me isn’t my phone number, nor what time I would like, He asks: «Is this haircut for a man or woman?» I reply, «Man»…brief pause… Man on the telephone: «Nope, no appointments… sorry.» *click*.
Since when has getting a haircut been gender specific? I don’t ask my patients whether they are a boy or girl before seeing their teeth… I’m sure men and women have the same kind of teeth. Right? Had I answered woman would he have said yes? Does it even matter what gender occupies the time slot? I mean sure you could argue that men’s hairstyles and female’s hairstyles are different and sure one person who is present may only specialize in a specific hairstyle, but I just feel this kind of behavior as strange… I wonder what next people are going to ask me before making an appointment? What religion I practice? Just seemed odd and imho unprofessional.

Seriously the best haircut I’ve ever had. Scott is the man. A true professional that offers a fair price. It’s hard to find a place to get a good haircut these days, but now I know where to go when I’m in Fort Wayne. Wouldn’t consider going anywhere else.

Scott is awesome… it is amazing to have someone of his caliber in Fort Wayne. Not only are his skills and talents superior, he doesn’t book other clients while your color is processing or whatever. Each client has his full attention throughout the entire appointment. He goes above and beyond in every possible way.

Best hair cut in Fort Wayne! Never a had a bad experience. I am trying to grow out my hair, and Scott’s haircuts keep it long and healthy!

Not that I have much hair left, but Scott is a true professional and always does a solid job.
I have been going to him for about two years.
It is a very clean professional salon. Kudos to a guy who takes his profession with great pride and sincere respect for his clients.

Thanks Scott for the wonderful haircut you did today for me ! Since i moved to Fort Wayne 8 months ago, i tried different hair salon with awful results and bad services. So i ´m so glad Sarah posted this review … Will Come back for sure !

Scott was my stylist and he did an absolutely amazing job. I have not have much luck with stylist since moving to Fort Wayne 3 years ago and to be honest I have thoroughly been traumatized by all the horrible cuts. Scott understood that and really took the time to understand what I was wanting and how my hair would function. I recommend this place to anyone because he listens and will do a fantastic job at whatever style.
