Went specifically for the blue gill dinner and after I ordered the server came back and told me they were out. Ordered a Stella and it never arrived. Waited 30 min for food after we ordered. Then I was charged for the beer I never received and had to have the bill adjusted. The food I had was OK except for the cole slaw. Comes out of a tub. I can understand busy and am not high maintenance but tonight’s service was pretty horrid.

Visited the Acme a few days ago with my boyfriend. Very impressed with the beer selection! Service was great! Menu looked amazing and so did the food. Will be back to try more beers and food for sure!

We have never had a bad meal at the Acme. And when it comes to servers Amber is the best. When we go she is who we ask for.

I am a fan of Acme. Great neighborhood restaurant/bar situated in East State Village. It’s the place your parents drug you to as a kid and now you drag your kids there once a week for pizza and family time. Great atmosphere. Beer list always impresses. Constant rotation of great craft beer and tap takeovers. Bar atmosphere is great. Very neighborhood bar vibe. Service. Eh, depends on the day. I respect establishments that have servers who have been serving there forever and create relationships with their guests… but these places tend to be the 1 server to 10 tables type. Which in turn relates to slow service. Received slow service here tonight with my dad and sister. Ice tea was never refilled when asked and after our server took the card to run it… well it seemed like she was running away with it. Gone for several minutes– she finally returned. Pizza is a hit here. Tonight I went with the nacho roll. Filled with cheese, beef, beans, and peppers. All of the rolls I have tried so far are phenomenal. Acme roll is also a favorite. Some of the other dishes definitely taste«frozen, thawed, cooked, then served.» I recommend the pizza or rolls.

My experience last night was just awful. First sign of awful, was my meal came out 30 minutes after my table of 4 had received theirs, just a bad bad situation in any restraunt. We were certain our waitress took a smoke break between serving my dinner guests meals, and finally deciding to bring my first plate. My first meatball sandwich had ice on the bread side of the meatballs, I sent it back, my second sandwich came out exactly the same. WOW! Thinking 3rd time would be a charm, the sandwich came out as a ½ portion and was burned, I guest the cook wanted to prove a point. I dug out 3 bites of unbuned meat. It was all that was edible. My server assured me that my sandwich was on the house. She called the extremely rude manager over and she refused. My awful experience, was just no concern of hers. No apology, nothing. You ate the sandwich, should of sent it back again. WOW! So, to put the icing on the cake when I received my change I was shorted $ 1, You know that your business in not wanted, not needed, Three bad sandwiches, being short changed. DONOTGOTOTHISPLACE,

This is a great little neighborhood pub located in the 05. In my opinion, one of the best microbrew selections in Fort Wayne. Food is ok… Your typical bar food options. I recommend the wing dinner or their supreme pizza. Service can kind of be hit and miss but whatever.

The bar area itself is pretty fantastic with a cool art-deco vibe. They have a really solid Hoosier Pork Tenderloin and a decent beer list. Prices are typical. The menu was extensive and I’d like to go back and try more of it. Apparently this place used to be very authentic to the 30’s and 40’s and much of the original character is gone…

Pulled pork was awesome and the pizza was good too. I wish they had pictures of the rolls, because I wanted to order one but I didn’t know what they looked like.

We had the taco pizza today — gosh it was good. The old gent at the next table kept the whole place entertained, and Bertie’s favorite waitress stopped by and chatted a minute. Love it here.

Love the acme. They have a good craft beer selection. Their food is really good as well and there is a good variety. The meatballs are the best in town, and be sure to try their smoked wings. They slow smoke them them and they are delicious! Tenderloin is tasty as well.

Like stepping back in time. Expected to hear the roll of the ball and the crash of the pins in back from the bowling alley [reference from Laverne and Shirley — or any other good family run italian joint from decades past — like Iarias in Indy]. I did not choose to visit the Acme. It was a poor second because I drove 100 miles to visit the cuban place next door. They closed early so me and the much better half rolled the dice and hit this place. «Bar», «Pizza» and«Family Room’ in ancient neon lured me in like a moth to the flame. We gravitated to the pizza on the large menu — although discussed the breaded tenderloins. We chose a standard iteration of thin crust, pep and shroom. Our server suggested the ‘diced’ pep — seemed like a good idea to me a la Pizza King. Nutshell: it was thin but not crispy, way too much cheese — too much chew, sliced not diced pepperoni and the sauce was straight from a can labelled«tomato sauce» [unseasoned]. Whole pie was a bit bland. Our server was OK but admitted she erred on the pep order to the kitchen despite the recommendation. And I must say, she was inappropriate with the tables of families w/kids. C’mon, keep the PG13/R jokes away from the preteens for crying out loud. This is probably the only shot this place had with me. If in the same circumstance, I’ll drive on downtown or hit the chains on the west side.

Nice little neighborhood bar with great pizza and good beers on tap. They had Greenbush’s Brother Benjamin on tap and I couldn’t have been more thrilled as I had just visited Greenbush Brewery in Sawyer, MI two weeks prior. Service can sometimes be really slow, but it wasn’t a problem on my latest visit.

The bar has great atmosphere and the dining room is a fun throw back. You’d think they’d have a great burger but they don’t. The best part about the place is the Big Daddy’s Pizza menu. Everything on it is delish. It’s a toss up between these sausage rolls and laycoff’s.

. . This is not the Acme bar. That place went bankrupt a few years ago. Everything of value was auctioned off. Except the main bar, no one wanted to buy it. The original managers ran it into the ground. For some god only know why reason? They raised the price of food and drinks, way past anyone else in the area. The bartenders and other employees left, and now you know the rest of the story. The new owners hired an interior decorator, trying to make it look like an older? 40’s. What ever; I couldn’t even figure it out. I think the new owners also hired a bar consulting firm. Something like on a cable T.V. show called Bar Rescue, to show them how to update the bar. How to «Maximize profits», per square foot. With the most Emphasize on expensive mixed drinks, and dinners with take-out pizza. Nothing, but a standard«cookie cutter» tired formula used in this area. A «shake and bake» atmosphere if you will. As the other bars being built in the area, it looks the same. Same dark stained wood with the similar shapes cut in the wood. If only they had stood on their own merit: If they had only called it «Acme 2» I would have given them three stars. If they insist on calling it «the Acme» I will award them two stars.

Very good BBQ, I had brisket and the wife had pulled pork. Friend and I had IPAs on tap. The built in liquor store was a bit over priced though.

FYI —this reopened recently. To be fair, my review is based on a visit in mid February, 2010 – about a week or two after re-open. However, after reading(Journal Gazette restaurant critic) Ryan DuVall’s review from June 2010, I don’t have much hope for it improving. Because for once, I actually agree with Ryan DuVall — except for the ambiance part. Our waiter, who must have gotten the«Is this as good as it used to be before closed?» question a million times before our arrival, prefaced the introduction with«if you came here for the original menu I have to tell you it’s not the same.» It should’ve been a sign. The fried mozzarella: cheap & flavorless. The same generic crap you can buy at Gordon’s…nothing to sing home about. The«gourmet» pizza was AWFUL. I’m sure it was frozen & microwaved. I’m pretty sure you can buy the same tiny, half-assed pizzas in the frozen section of Scott’s for .59…this pizza was worth $.59 cents and not a penny more. The tenderloin, which I would normally love no matter who prepared it, was tough, overcooked and flavorless. I’m sorry but was someone not watching the fryer because how can you ruin a tenderloin? My two-year old, who eats everything from peanut butter to Lake Michigan Whitefish in lemon caper sauce, refused to eat their Grilled Cheese sandwich! Yes, it was that bad. The cheapest cheese ever known to man stuck between two cheap slices of bread. Overcooked, and yet not melted. This is a mystery to me. I liked the waiter – whoever he was. But I felt sorry for him – he seemed like he knew in his heart he’s working an uphill battle with high expectations. He tried, he really did — but I think he was a little embarrassed with having to shake his head«no» so many times. I know the old Acme got a lot of bad reviews, and I really didn’t expect a whole lot going in. But seriously, it’s a BAR, with basic pub food — and I have no idea how they can get it so wrong. Perhaps you should start at the bar first and have a few on tap before ordering«food.» Sorry, Acme.
