Lunch at Coyote Creek was amazing. Large, beautifully breaded fried onion rings — breaded pork tenderloin was great with a true thick piece of tenderloin under that breading. Tom enjoyed a huge sausage roll with sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms, etc in pizza sauce. service at our table was top notch. We’ll be coming back!

As always this is by my wife for her FaceBook friends. Burger Quest II — Week 2: We’ve been hearing some good things lately about The Lodge at Coyote Creek and decided that we should make it this week’s burger destination to investigate for ourselves. Housed in the former location of the Fort Wayne Elks Lodge #155& Country Club on Hillegas Road in Fort Wayne, the building maintains the classic look and distinctive lines which characterize commercial architecture of the 1950’s. Even though the restaurant and bar areas have been updated and the bowling lanes extracted, the changes are not drastic enough to the interior unrecognizable as the Elks facility it once was. We were told to seat ourselves and headed for the spacious dining room still overlooking the adjacent golf course which is now called Coyote Creek Golf Club. The menu offers a Classic Cheeseburger, Bacon & Bleu Burger, Breakfast Burger, Jalapeño Pepperjack Burger, and Smokehouse Burger. The Classic sells for $ 8.99 while the others are $ 9.99 All burgers at this –establishment are made from fresh, never frozen ground chuck on bakery style buns and are accompanied by house cut fries and the customer’s choice of coleslaw, cucumber salad, or BLT pasta salad. I chose the Jalapeño Pepperjack Burger which was seasoned with the Lodge’s own spicy 5-pepper dry rub and topped with pepperjack cheese, 2 slices of bacon, sautéed jalapenos, and jalapeño mayo. Scottie decided on the Smokehouse Burger. This meaty combo starts with a BBQ-seasoned beef patty that gets topped with pepperjack cheese, smoky pulled pork, grilled ham, caramelized grilled onions and berry jalapeño jam. Amazingly, the beef was bold enough to let its presence be known among all the fantastic accouterment on both masterpieces. Although Burger Quest has left me with little desire for French fries, the house cut fries at The Lodge are some of the best either of us have tasted and the creamy cucumber salad is slightly sweet, crisp and good. Our servers were prompt, courteous, and attentive. As it sometimes happens, the burgers we try can create a snowball effect, prompting a return visit. In this case the pulled pork on the Smokehouse will more than likely beckon us back for a meal in which it plays a starring role. My only disappointment was that even though I prefer my steaks to be cooked to medium rare, I neither like the taste nor the texture of rare ground meats. Our primary server told us that this establishment cooks burgers to medium well, but a third of my patty was pretty close to raw. In the end, I wouldn’t have been able to finish the sandwich anyway, but getting a bite of cool, blood-red hamburger was just a bit off-putting. Scottie’s beef seemed to have been cooked uniformly. Overall we had a pleasant and satisfying experience and we give The Lodge at Coyote Creek our firm recommendation. FYI: Full bar service is available but smoking is prohibited. Children are welcome in the dining room. This is a large structure containing ample dining and meeting rooms. Don’t be fooled by a nearly full parking lot. Most of the cars will have delivered patrons to various places throughout, including the golf course, and you will probably have no trouble getting seated for a meal or cocktails. Visit them at .

This restaurant was a surprising find. Nice décor and great menu. The food was spectacular and reasonably priced. The staff were all friendly and happy. I only had 2 complaints… 1. no draft beer. 2. No beer list of the bottles that are available. We had to play the game where the waitress ran back and forth to the bar to see if they had what we wanted. Hopefully this will get corrected. If it does, this may be my new favorite place.

I found out that it’s under new ownership. The staff was super friendly and very attentive. Meghan the bartender was on it with drink refills and highly recommended the shrimp and grits. It was amazing. I was there for lunch and service was quick and very efficient. I will be back, its on my regular list.
