I decided to show up here on a whim. And decided to scope out the place I wasn’t particularly super hungry. Anyway, got the 4 piece Meza plate: cucumber plate, falafel, dolma, and sambosas. All were really tasty the cucumber dip was refreshing, the falafel was not too dry not too moist(I’ve had them baked rather than fried and they give a different complexity) the dolma was something new for me I expected it to be sticky but it was like a tangy vinegar-y taste. My favorite were the sambosas nice and crispy and flaky. Has tons of options for veggies i suggest this place been thinking about it ever since I left there.

First try of this place. Looks a little dingy and old outside and inside. Had the combo vegetarian scabagge(spelling?)…it was hot, fresh, big portion and amazing! Falafel was the best I’ve ever had.

I just visited King Tut this past Saturday with my boyfriend for lunch. I’d never been here before and didn’t even realize it existed but after he tried it with some work friends, he confirmed they had vegan options. living in a city with slim pickings as far as vegan food goes, I was totally in. I loved the look of the place. nothing fancy, hole in the wall place with some really interesting touches! the Egyptian décor was really cool and we both liked the tablecloths. we started with the eggplant dip with pita bread and holy moly that stuff was GOOD. probably my favorite thing that we ate! when we ordered we reiterated that we didn’t want anything made with egg or dairy(and of course meat, but in reference to the already vegetarian dishes) and the man that took our order said there was no egg in any of the dishes and we simply asked for no feta if our dishes were supposed to come with them. I got the falafel with rice. loved the tahini sauce that came with! my boyfriend got the foul madammas with no feta. both dishes came with salads and without us even asking, they remembered not to put feta on the salad either! service was polite and attentive and the food was amazing. definitely coming back… so glad to have another place with vegan options in Fort Worth!

They have a $ 5 falafel that I would choose for my last meal on earth. Locally owned, delicious, great location, family-run, go here now.

Highly recommend the falafel! It was my favorite part of our meal. I had chicken shawarma & my daughter had mossaka. All delicious! Our first, but not last, time to eat at King Tut!

My adult families and I have been dining here for many years. It is the one restaurant that we all enjoy. Even my grandchildren love it. The shawarma dishes, beef and chicken hummus are our favorites. The King Tut salad and eggplant salads are great. Just a good solid eating place.

Liked the waitstaff, the person who waited on us, she was timely and friendly. We had about 8 in our group for a meeting. I ordered a rice fahita meat meal with a salad. Way too much for me so I had a to go bag prepared. Have not learned about any drink policies but will report that in my next visit.

I have difficulty comparing king tut to other Mediterranean restaurants that I have frequented. Mainly because I usually order lamb or beef. On this visit we are eating vegan. So to the vegetarian menu we go. The falafel was really good. The veggie shawarma also enjoyed. though i think i would have enjoyed the fries better than the rice. And the eggplant scabeg… noone particularly liked that one. It felt like lazagna with no cheese or meat. Sauce was good though. Décor is a little bit of chaos and the whole place feels more like a coffee and donut diner though egyptian décor is everywhere. Overall the food was pretty good and I will return when I am eating meat to give it my fair review on the food.

The falafel is the best(I’ve had) in Fort Worth. I order the falafel sandwich. My husband enjoys the chicken schwarma sandwich. Each are about $ 5. The hummus is my favorite in all the land. The baba ganoush is great! The pita they serve is made locally(arlington) and you should ask to take some with you.

Only had lunch by myself, so a limited review. Had the Chicken Swarm with rlce and some Turkish coffee. Huge portion — okay it is Texas!!! Ever come to a place where there’s no question about the freshness of the food? That’s the feelings I fit immediately when I entered. It’s unassuming and the tables are not crammed together. But for me, the atmosphere is second to the food. And the food here is good. It’s on Magnolia in the area being revived and hip. Flavor of the chicken was excellent, as well as the rice and pita. Cute little salad, too. Lots of vegetarian items I’d like to try and hope to on another visit!

I came to King Tut during busy lunch hour on a random weekday. Frustrated with the parking situation, or lack thereof, I parked a ways down the street on a sketch street. I was too hungry to care! After my hike to King Tut I sat myself as instructed by the seat yourself sign. I even grabbed my own menu because they were extremely busy. They had one person running tables, one person doing drinks, and one person taking orders. A little inefficient if you ask me. But I understood it was busy and it was the best they could do. With that being said service wasn’t too bad for the amount of customers they had and how busy it was. I had the lamb gyro with a side order of fries coming out to about $ 8. I personally didn’t enjoy the food at all but was so hungry so I finished it anyway. I mean it wasn’t so bad that it wasn’t edible but it just wasn’t good. The fries are obviously from a frozen bag somewhere. Overall, pretty disappointed as the guys from work raved about this place and I left feeling let down. Lesson learned.

A good gyro sandwich for lunch but a little light. Taste wonderful wish it was filled with veggies a little more.

My husband and I used to come to King Tut regularly for dinner but something has changed — maybe the cook? I’m not sure. We ordered what we usually get — me: falafel platter with rice and him: gyro platter with fries. My falafels and the rice had no seasoning, it was bland. And the fries with the gyro platter were nice and crispy but there was no salt on them at all. The baba ganoush was still delicious, though. Maybe we came on an off day.

King Tut is Egyptian food. Unilocal doesn’t have an Egyptian category and classifies it as Mediterranean. I’m not Egyptian and can’t tell you if it’s authentic or not, but I can tell you that while there is some resemblance to Mediterranean, it’s not the same thing. I walked in Monday evening around 6:30 p. m and grabbed a seat. Restaurant was pretty empty. Only one other table eating. Wall décor and pieces unique as other reviewers commented. Food was good, fresh, and came out hot(almost too hot). Had to wait for the soup to cool some to prevent from burning my tongue. Server suggested mossaca for an entrée so I gave it a try. It’s ground beef and eggplant in a tomato based sauce, served with rice. Tasted pretty good but too oily. It’s something I’d want as a smaller side of, not fill up on an entire plate. Four stars for friendly service, large portion size, overall uniqueness. Seems like a good place to eat family style to try other menu items.

I think that when you visit King Tut(and you really should), you will go away thinking about the location and the awesome décor a lot more than the food. Don’t get me wrong, their food is real good… but the interior of the restaurant is very unique! King Tut is located down on Magnolia in Ft. Worth. This stretch reminds me of Oak Cliff… a section of town that is undergoing a «revitalization» period. There seems to be a lot of spots that have recently popped up… and King Tut remains amongst them… and for good reason. Once you enter, you quickly notice the Egyptian theme. Several pieces of Egyptian artwork and collectibles line the walls. The dining area is very spacious with plenty of seating. I ordered the vegetable shawarma and was quite pleased. I really didn’t know what to expect from the name of the dish, but the description on the menu is pretty spot on. It’s basically diced up veggies cooked with spices and served with pita bread and fries. The veggies were real good and went well with the tahini and bread. The fries were kind of under cooked to me. Nothing too special, but nothing bad at all. The things that I like about King Tut are the location, the vibe of the restaurant itself, and the service. They have a real good selection for everyone, herbivores and carnivores! Take a trip down to Magnolia… enjoy the vibe and the shawarma!

We used to come here all the time! Not sure why we stopped coming though. I do recommend King Tut though. It’s a really unique experience. They have Egyptian statues situated everywhere, mostly in the second dining room. I always got the beef shish kabobs. The rice and the pita bread were pretty good, but the cucumber sauce made the meal! I hope to visit King Tut soon. A visit is long over due :).
